Chapter 35 - Unbinding the Past

Celestine couldn't wait. She had been anticipating the full moon for days, praying for the moment her daughter would wake….finally free from the bond.

The day crawled by, agonizingly slow, but when night fell and the full moon rose high above the trees, its silver light illuminated the grounds like a divine blessing. It was finally time.

Serena met with Celestine just outside the main clearing. Kael, in his massive wolf form, stood nearby with Zyra draped carefully across his back like a fragile relic.

Serena opened a worn book, her fingers trembling slightly. She tilted her head up to the glowing sky.

Kael watched them from the side, unsure of what exactly was happening. But if this was what it took to bring his Alpha back, who was he to doubt?

Even Celestine had her reservations, but she had no choice—Serena was all she had to hold onto.

Serena began to chant: "Oohm savaktsht ramsay wn̈nash kimsa strevan rimsan shosba gwe..." Her voice echoed into the night as her eyes locked on the moon.

Thunder cracked across the clouds, and the ground beneath them trembled. Fog rolled in thick and heavy, swallowing the clearing whole.

Laughter…..low, haunting, eerie and ancient echoed through the mist.

Celestine stiffened.

Kael's wolf form stood ready, muscles tensed to defend them from whatever came.

Then… three figures emerged from the fog, backs turned. Slowly, they turned around and began to walk in unison toward them. With each step, the mist receded, revealing their faces.

One witch exuded a terrifying aura of power. Her ombre eyes shimmered like galaxies, long green hair streaked with golden brown cascading down to her waist . Her presence was both beautiful and overwhelming… It was like gazing at the sun, the moon, and the stars all at once. Her milky skin shimmered beautifully.

Kael's wolf was mesmerized. He lowered his guard unconsciously, unable to look away.

The other two witches were more subtle ….one with a cunning smile and another with a blank, unreadable expression.

"You summoned us?" they asked in eerie unison.

"Yes," Celestine stepped forward, voice firm and regal. "Oh, great witches, I need a bond broken. Permanently."

"Hm," the ombre-eyed witch smirked. "Isn't it polite to introduce oneself before making requests?"

Celestine glared at her. Her thoughts went to the fact that she wanted her zyra awake, "i am celestine , Zyra's mother"

She tilted her head. "I am Sythea, High Priestess and witchiest of all." She gestured to her companions. "This is Morgan."

The cunning one nodded.

"And Edris," said the emotionless one.

Sythea's gaze fell on Kael.

She knelt and observed Zyra, unconscious across Kael's back. Her lips moved in soft whispers…. Just like the words serena muttered before.

"Please," Serena said suddenly, stepping forward. "Revive her. I love her. I want her to be my mate."

Sythea smiled calmly. "Easy, Omega. There is a process "

The three witches joined hands. Their eyes glowed, and the moon blazed brighter above them as they began to chant together.

Not long after the stopped…

A deep gasp escaped Zyra's lips.

She was awake.

Serena smirked in relief.

Zyra's eyes glowed silver for a moment before slowly dimming. Her breathing evened out and she drifted back into sleep.

"There she is," Sythea said softly. "Free from the cursed Omega. Her memory of the bond is gone. All she knows now… is that she despises Moonveil."

Serena's smile faltered.

"You'll have to wait five days before you can try to bond with her," Sythea warned. "And I suggest no one says a word about what happened. Let her mind remain untouched, or else we cant tell what would happen."

"We'll be staying in Lunarion for a few days," Morgan added. "Hope that's not a problem."

"No," Celestine replied, . "But only for 5 days"

"Very well" Sythea replied

Serena, however, burned with frustration. Why hadn't they bonded Zyra to her immediately?

Kael carried Zyra to her chambers. After shifting back, he dressed quietly.

Serena stormed in almost immediately.

"I don't appreciate you being around Zyra all the time," she snapped. "From now on, I'll be the one taking care of her."

Kael blinked, unimpressed. "Are you dumb?"

Even if i hate liora , just merely looking at you makes me want to kick your face. The witches you called in was for your own good.. you wanted them to bond you to Zyra. Guess what she won't even let them do such a thing because you were just a momentary whore".

Serena flinched.

Kael continued "The witch said she has no memory of the bond or the Fated Moon Night. She never loved you, Serena. Quit acting like you had a place in her heart."

Serena scoffed and turned on her heel. "We'll see about that."

Meanwhile, in Moonveil...

Liora's eyes fluttered open.

"Father! Liora is awake!"

Joy burst through Aldric. The entire pack gathered, their faces glowing with relief.

Some believed she was still the Moon Goddess's blessing—as long as she stayed far from the True Blood Alpha. Others weren't so sure. They didn't voice their fears aloud, but it showed in their eyes.

Still, they were grateful to have their protector back.

Sera wept with joy and immediately began updating Liora on everything that had happened while she was unconscious.

Liora noticed the way some pack members stared at her—tense, uncertain.

"Why are they looking at me like that?" she asked. "I can feel their stress… their fear."

She turned to Sera. "What else happened?"

Sera exchanged a glance with Aldric, silently urging him.

Aldric dismissed everyone and shut the door.

He sat down beside Liora and gently began. He told her everything—her strange, silent birth, the Moon Goddess's blessing, her fate as a Night Omega, her mother's attack on Lunarion, and how the healers had erased those memories to protect her fragile mind.

"You were born to be Zyra's fated mate. It was already sealed. We just… hoped it wouldn't happen. That something might change."

Liora's face crumpled. "So all this time, you knew? You let me go to the Fated Moon grounds knowing I was already fated to her?"

"I didn't want to arouse suspicion from the elders. It would've happened, Liora. Whether we tried to stop it or not."

She shook her head, tears rolling. "And my mother? I thought she died giving birth to me."

"No," Aldric whispered. "She died attacking Zyra. Trying to kill her. We erased the memory because you couldn't handle it."

He hesitated, then added, "The elders and I… we also planned the attack on Zyra to sever the bond. I didn't expect the consequences to be so… catastrophic."

Even Sera was stunned. So all along, the betrayal had started from within, they went through all these?....

"Can I have some time alone?" Liora asked quietly.

Then she turned to Sera. "Stay. My 'alone' includes you."

Sera was touched.

She gave Aldric a long look before he bowed his head and left.

Liora sat in silence, tears drying on her cheeks, emotions locked behind a still gaze.

"Sera," she finally said. "I want to go to Lunarion... to see Zyra."
