Chapter 26 - Saved?

Aldric never thought this day would come, the rogues had always been controlled and subdued.

Liora never let them even reach the borders neither did Zyra , thats the one thing they had always fought against in one mind. But today? He was so sure its their last day of breathing.

Before he could lunge at them to protect his pack with all he had.

The air sliced with a terrifying sound of blades.

A silver blade, gleaming in the pale light, shot through the air with deadly precision. It embedded itself deep into the throat of a rogue, whose strangled howl was cut short as it crumpled to the earth in a heap of bloody flesh.

Then came the chaos.

A flash of movement, faster than he could track.

Sera.

She descended from the trees like an unstoppable storm, her wolf form twisting mid-air before crashing into the nearest rogue with a ferocity that stunned even Aldric. Claws tore through flesh and bone with a brutal grace, and in a blink, the rogue's throat was a mangled mess of blood and ruin.

But she was not alone.

From the darkness emerged Lunarion wolves, charging like a tidal wave of destruction.

Kael, at the vanguard, swung his sword with deadly precision, his golden eyes ablaze with rage and focus. A rogue lunged toward him, jaws snapping, but Kael spun, his blade cutting through the air like a vengeful extension of his will. He slashed across its stomach, a fountain of blood spraying as he kicked it aside without breaking stride.

Behind him, a massive Lunarion warrior shifted mid-strike, her hulking wolf form landing on a rogue with a bone-crushing impact. Her fangs sank into its skull, snapping with a sickening crack that echoed in the stillness of the forest.

Sera moved like a tempest, her strikes swift and merciless. Every movement was an execution—claws raking, fangs tearing through flesh. Her ash fur was soon soaked with the blood of her enemies as she slaughtered them one by one.

A rogue lunged toward her, but Sera's body dipped low, avoiding its snapping jaws with an agility that defied belief. In a fluid, practiced movement, she raked her claws down its back, ripping through its spine. The creature howled in agony, but before it could retaliate, she leaped onto its shoulders, her teeth sinking into its throat and tearing it apart in one savage motion.

The battle raged on, but Kael and Sera were a whirlwind, each strike, each movement, each breath aimed at ensuring the rogues' swift demise.

But the rogues were outmatched.

One by one, they fell, their twisted bodies littering the ground. Blood stained the earth beneath them, the air thick with the scent of death. The remaining rogues, realizing their defeat, let out frustrated snarls, eyes flicking toward the cover of the trees.

And then, as if the very air had shifted once more, they retreated.

Their dark forms melted into the shadows, retreating into the depths of the forest. They ran, leaving behind only the echoes of their retreating footsteps.

Sera stood alone in the aftermath, chest heaving, her fur slick with blood as she surveyed the battlefield. Her eyes, once fierce, now held a quiet exhaustion. She turned toward Kael, but the Beta merely sheathed his sword, his expression unreadable. Silent.

Aldric exhaled sharply, his breath ragged, his heart still pounding in his chest. He glanced down at Liora—still unconscious, still unmoving—and whispered, "It's not over yet, the rogues are not done"

Kael wiped the blood from his blade, his golden eyes scanning the battlefield, searching for signs of further threats. But the rogues had retreated, their numbers dwindling, leaving only silence around them.

Yet the victory felt hollow.

Sera took a step forward, her ash fur matted with blood, eyes locked on Aldric, who still carried Liora. The Omega had not stirred—not once.

A chilling realization settled in her gut, cold as ice.

She picked up a cloth and went behind a tree and shifts back to her human form and wrapping her naked body .

"If our leaders don't awaken," Sera murmured, her voice low and tight with dread.

Kael's jaw clenched, his rage barely contained. His Alpha—Zyra—was still trapped in the abyss of unconsciousness, just as Liora was. Neither had stirred.

A fire burned in his chest, fury and fear combining into a dangerous glare. "This isn't over," he growled, voice harsh. "If Zyra and Liora don't wake up, neither of our packs will survive the next attack."

Sera turned, eyes blazing, scanning the remaining warriors. Her expression was grim, lips pressed into a hard line. "We can't hold them off forever," she said, voice tight with resolve. "The rogues will regroup, and when they return, they'll come back stronger, more prepared."

Aldric, though weary and worn by the battle, straightened his back. His voice, rough with age and worry, cut through the tension. "We must find a way to awaken them—before it's too late."

The forest around them seemed to hold its breath, the weight of the moment pressing down on them all.

Aldric shifted Liora on his back, his tired eyes narrowing as he cast a weary glance at Sera. His curiosity cut through the exhaustion. "How did you get Lunarion to help?" he asked, his voice rough from the fight.

Sera exhaled slowly, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "They locked me up, Father. They threw me in their prison like a criminal."

Aldric's brow furrowed, his heart sinking. "What?"

"I begged them," Sera continued, her voice quieter now, almost raw. "I begged over and over, but they wouldn't listen. Kael—" she spat his name, her jaw tightening, "—he refused at first. He said he'd rather watch Moonveil burn."

Aldric's breath hitched, his heart clenched. But he stayed silent.

"But I didn't stop." Her fists clenched at her sides, the anger in her eyes giving way to a grim determination. "I screamed. I begged. Until my voice was raw. Until I had nothing left." Her eyes flickered with a strange mixture of resentment and defiance. "Kael was furious. My cries must have angered him… Because after hours of ignoring me, he finally gave in."

Aldric's gaze drifted toward Kael, standing across the battlefield, sword still dripping with rogue blood. The Beta's expression was unreadable, his stance tense as if the weight of his decision was too heavy to bear.

"Kael only helped because he was tired of hearing me beg," Sera muttered bitterly, wiping dirt and blood from her face. "Not because he cared."

Aldric nodded, his eyes reflecting the complex emotions of the moment. "It doesn't matter why he did it. He still came."

Sera's lips pressed into a thin line, but she didn't argue.

Kael had come.

And that was what they needed.
