"I'm coming with you and that's final." I planted my feet firmly on the plush carpet of our Silverholm suite, arms crossed over my baby bump.
Kaelen raked a hand through his dark hair, his jaw set in that stubborn way I'd come to recognize all too well. "Seraphina, we've been over this."
"No, you've been over it. I've been ignored."
The tension in the room was thick enough to slice with a knife. We'd been dancing around this argument for days, but now, with his departure looming, we couldn't avoid it any longer.
"You're not being ignored," he said, his voice tightly controlled. "You're being protected."
I scoffed. "I don't need protecting. I need to be treated like your mate and partner, not some fragile ornament you can tuck away somewhere safe."
Kaelen's green eyes flashed with frustration. "You're six months pregnant with my son. Our son. The diplomatic mission to the Northern Alphas will take us through unstable territories. Territories I've never personally visited."
