Steam rose from the water's surface, creating a misty cloud that hovered over the Silverholm palace baths. I sank deeper into the large natural hot spring, letting the water envelop me up to my chin. The mineral-rich bath soothed my tense muscles, but did little to calm my frayed nerves.
"He still doesn't get it," I muttered, swishing my hand through the cloudy water.
Lyra, lounging on the smooth stone ledge across from me, tilted her head. "You mean your Alpha who's currently searching the entire palace for you?"
I couldn't help the small smile that tugged at my lips. "Good. Let him search."
"Sera, you do realize that hiding in water to mask your scent is the oldest trick in the wolf book, right?"
"I'm not hiding," I lied, sliding even deeper until the water brushed my lower lip. "I'm relaxing."
Lyra laughed, the sound echoing off the stone walls of the cavernous bath chamber. "Sure. And I'm the Queen of England."
