Chapter 169 - A Moonlit Run & A Mated Heart

I'd been avoiding Kaelen for days, but I couldn't hide forever in our suite. Not when he was leaving tomorrow. My heart ached at the thought, making me even angrier. How could he just leave us? Leave me?

I stared out the window at the moon, rising full and bright over Vanaran Lake, its silver light painting the water. I'd received his note hours ago, the words both infuriating and thrilling me.

The door opened behind me.

I didn't turn around.

"Still sulking?" Kaelen's deep voice filled the room.

"I'm not sulking," I replied, my tone clipped. "I'm processing."

"Three days of processing seems excessive, even for you." The amusement in his voice grated on my already frayed nerves.

I whirled around to face him. "You're the one who's leaving, Kaelen. Not me."

His eyes softened as he approached, moving with that predatory grace that never failed to make my breath catch. "Sera."
