I still don't really understand any of this vampire stuff, I mean could they really exist? Seems unrealistic to me, and if they exist, why are they hidden from the world? Why are they not public information. Well anyways, it's not the right time to question everything. "Let me show you around" the doctor said, but wait "excuse me" I whispered, "what was your name?" I've been talking to a man who's name I didn't even know, "Zane, and yours?" "My name is Alaric, nice to meet you." He grinned, again… "so, all your siblings names start with the letter a?" he asked, "I guess so." As he starts walking to the door, "Azalea, lets follow him" but I get no response, "Azalea!" After that she jumped, "Sorry" she mumbled. She was never the strongest with words and honestly, she has always been shy, doesn't help that now we lost our parents. Well with that aside, we follow the doctor out the door, he shows us around the facility, its huge, alot of rooms and people. I ask him "if we are in the main facility, where is the academy you spoke of?" He stopped and turned around, "Okay let me explain it now and if any questions pop up, ask me later. In simple terms, this is our main facility, however we also have numerous branch locations, the country is split up into districts ranked one through seventeen. We are currently in district seven, the most active, we found you guys in the 9th, a fair amount of action but not too bad, the academy is located in the tenth, about a two hour drive from here. The tenth district is the safest, its rare for an attack to happen there, less than a one a year." So confusing, so the districts are labeled one through seventeen yet one or seventeen isn't the most active. "Wait so, what are the rankings for the districts in activity," because I need some sort of clarity. "Good question, the ranking is complicated so listen closely, the order from most active to least active is, seven, nine, two, one, three, eleven, twelve, fifteen, five, thirteen, eight, fourteen, seventeen, four, six, sixteen, and ten." Confusing, I can't remember all that. "Wait so, if the academy is two hours away, how are we going to get there?" He smiled and stopped, he pointed to his left and said "She's taking you." It was a woman, she was blonde, blue eyes, gorgeous. You wouldn't think someone who looked like that, would be in the line of work like this. Well with that aside, I could tell she was nice, I didn't mind letting this person drive me and my sister. "Hey kiddo, what's your name" she asked me, she was in a good mood. "My names Alaric, and yours?" "My names Cassie, nice to meet you. And what's your name little girl?" "M-M-My n-name is Azalea." "Nice to meet you kid." The doctor intrupted, "Cassie I appreciate you being able to take them, it means alot," a smirk on her face started showing, "anytime sir" she said that with a quirky little salute.
The two hour drive begun, we were going to somewhere we were completely unfamiliar with. So many changes happening too quickly, I still can't get over how my parents are gone but, I still think its affected my sister a lot more. Looking into her eyes, she looks so sad, I guess as her brother it's now my responsibility to take care of her. As we get into the car, Cassie warns us that it's going to be a long drive and to get some rest because we're going to need it, I didn't really understand what that meant but, there was an opportunity to get some sleep so that's exactly what I did, or well it's what I wanted to do. I couldn't really sleep, I didn't know if it was the fact I was just sleep for over a week or the fact that I have to go to this so called academy there was just too much happening too soon I was anxious. Cassie assured me, "Once we leave district seven, we should be safe from most vampires."
About an hour into the drive I notice something weird, it feels like we were being watched, as I started to say her name, Cassie interrupted "yeah, I know." This was weird, she felt it too? What did this mean? "There is one major flaw about our district system, could you guess what it is?" I'm confused, flaw in the district system? What could it be? Before I could get a word out, "district seven is so big we still haven't left it." As soon as Cassie said this, something hit the car, we ended up running into a tree. I start looking around, I felt uncomfortable. I was panicking and confused, I look forward and Cassie is being held by the throat. And of course, it had to be a vampire. It was weird, it didn't look like she was struggling, she was kind of just allowing it to happen, I looked to my right and my sister seemed fine, she wasn't panicking, maybe Cassie was just trying to not scare us? Well, I turned back forward and the vampire lost its head. Yeah, Cassie took his head off within seconds of me looking away. I don't know how she did it but she did it. The situation seemed to have calmed down a little. "Are we safe now" I whispered, still terrified. "Yeah kiddo we're fine." I'm honestly just confused, did she really take one of them out that easily, and if so then how? Is she super strong or something? Does she know of a weakness they have? So many questions with not enough answers. After a few seconds I pass out, I guess the exhausted really hit me.
My eyes started to open, it was turning day, I look forward and what it looked like was a school, I was moving, yet I wasn't moving. I opened my eyes a little wider, "Cassie did you carry me here." She looked at me "Yeah, welcome back."
