Chapter 1 - Dissonance

The Melody of Life...

It starts quietly—like someone humming to themselves in the dark, unsure if anyone's listening. A single note, soft and fragile, carried on a breeze you barely notice until it's already passed.

From that small sound, something stirs. A rhythm takes shape—the heartbeat of a newborn, the shaky breath of someone seeing the world for the first time, the spark of wonder that flickers behind wide eyes. Life doesn't crash into existence with a bang. It arrives gently, almost shyly. I like music. You know? Yet I find the tales that are spun around the Melody of life to be more… irresistible, perhaps you are here to look at one yourself.

Watch, listen and observe! This is where his story begins.

Now caption this, you are stuck in a world filled with some of the most dangerous entities ever thought of. What would you do? Would you rather just give it all up or thrive with the rest of your kind? Well, for the people of this world. They chose the latter, and so this world that we shall title Chiva was birthed.

Our tale begins with a boy from that realm, quite the young one in fact! Only about... 7, he was sitting on the lap of his mother who was sitting on the couch next to his father. The fireplace filled with the burning wood, as the mother hummed a beautiful tone. The flames danced, casting golden flickers on the walls. The mother slowly turned her face to her husband as she spoke to him in her ever sweet voice, its tone dropping with pure innocence..

"Dear.. You have been quite silence ever since you have come here, what is wrong?"

The father seemed to have zoned out and has only been reawakened to reality by her words, as he just turned his head to face hers. As he gave her half a smile and a pat on the shoulder before he replied.

"It is about our children, Lazarus and Edelmata. We need to be more watchful about them, I have a bad feeling about the winds right now."

The lady looked at her man in a confused manner, she was not at fault for it as well. Considering... The winds? What does he even try to mean with such words? Fortunately, he explained what he means.

"Call it Paranoia, but I think something is gonna happen soon enough. Although, maybe that is just the mead within me talking. We should put Young Lazarus to sleep, let me tuck him in this time."

The man lifted up the young child, little Laza seemed to be still quite the shy one. Completely expected from a little boy, even if it was around his parents. The father gently carried him in his arms as he slowly walked towards the room of the children, the twin brother of the boy was sleeping on a bed across the room. Before he tenderly put the boy in the other bed, and tucked them in.

"Sweet Dreams, Kid."

The child giggled, hugging the hand of his papa who was just about to leave him. The father chuckled a bit, finding the sight obviously adorable. As he just pat the head of the boy, before he left to the room he was in with his wife.

"You do realize that I know what is on your mind, my dear husband. You are worried about sustaining all four of us in this house, we will get by.. darling, we always do so."

He just shakes his head, as he rubbed the back of his neck. He definitely wasn't worried about that, but he didn't want to worry her about what was actually on his mind. So he just sighed and nodded in fake "hesitance" and she had been convinced that her analysis was correct! Oh, how naive.

"Heh.. looks like you got me read like a book! You are getting pretty good at this, my dear wife. Although, I think it is getting late.. We should get to rest, we got work to do ourselves."

The lady put down her glass of wine as she just put her hands on his shoulders, the people of Chiva were quite tall and muscular and packed quite the power within their bodies. So, it was obvious to say that she had quite the grip in her hands.

"Buuuuuuuut darling!~ The night is still young.. Are you sure that you don't want to perhaps dance with me? Our anniversary is coming soon and you might need some practice."

He reluctantly accepted her offer, although he had one thing to do before he would come to help her enjoy herself. He raised his finger in a way to signal that he needs a moment, as he entered the bathroom and splashed water on his face. As he looked at himself in the mirror, and he could be described as the following:

His skin was white, but not pale! More like ivory kissed by sunlight, his eyes were like orbs of emerald that were a mirror to his soul and personality. He also had a goatee that was thin, well-trimmed, adding a bit of edge to his otherwise clean face. His body was chiseled and had several scars that had healed, clearly this man fought battles. Although that was to be expected from the harsh world they live in, his hair was shaped into a mullet that was not too wild and not too clean. He didn't exactly care to stand out nor did he want to look pompous, otherwise he had nothing defining qualities that would be too meaningful to name at the moment. The colour of his hair was that of darkened brown.

His body was a contrast to his wife, as her chiseled body was dark and tanned. Her hair white and her feminine attributes still very appearant despite her muscles and scars telling you otherwise, she had a scar on her lip right in the middle of her mouth from a battle with a bandit in the desert. Despite all of that? If you had laid your eyes on her for even a moment, you would understand why her husband was so head over heels for her when they first met.

He left the bathroom in a haze as he walked over to his darling and grabbed her hands with tenderness as he held them and intertwined their fingers together and danced with her for a few hours, it was not common for romance to blossom in Chiva. As people were too busy with dealing with the harshness of the universe, yet like people always say...

Love finds a way.
