Chapter 8 - — Home

The brackets were announced to be posted the next day and all of the contestants made their way out of the stadium. It was too short. Unsatisfying for him. But it didn't matter. He simply just made his way home.

Meanwhile inside Grey Parker's office. His administrators talked among themselves. Including the man that Aries had encountered outside the stadium, baring his sharp teeth as he leaned against a wall. While Grey's secretary, Ysolde, stared at him.

"Got a problem?" Ysolde was a rather short woman for her age. Baring long purple hair and glasses.

"Not exactly. No."

"Then quit staring. You creep me out." She continued to stare. Perhaps out of spite.

"Do you want me to punch you?"

Another man entered the room. A skinnier yet taller man, with light orange hair.

"Don't cause any trouble. Adam. We have enough on our hands." The man took a sip of his coffee.

"Don't tell me what to do, Rook." Grey entered the room and sighed. Rubbing his forehead.

"That was extremely disappointing. None of the contestants are…outstanding. To say the least."

"Hmph, I disagree." Adam spoke up.

"And who exactly caught your eye, Adam?"

"The kid with red hair. The one you said you recruited. He almost beat the crap out of that witch. And if we didn't stop the match. He probably would've."

"We'll see. Ysolde, any updates on…him?"

"Yes, sir. I observed a man dressed as a beggar and saw him talk to that kid. The kid seemed to be afraid or something and ran. And then…something odd happened."

"What? What is it?"

"He stared right at me. Usually I can't be detected using my abilities. But he stared right into my eyes. And then pretended I wasn't there. And just vanished."

"Shit." Adam and Rook looked towards Grey. "Who are you on about?" Adam spoke up. "Don't worry about it." Grey sharply responded. "Now get out of my office. I'm busy." Grey kicked the three out of the office.

Adam looked at Rook as they walked down the hall. "How about a duel?"

"What, you want a rematch after I beat the crap out of you?"

"That was almost a year ago." Adam snapped.

"Wins a win…"
