And then, a few hours later, Kiana finally got her body back after waking up from her deep sleep.

But right after opening her eyes, she noticed something strange. Her jaw hurt. It was sore and aching like she had been chewing something tough all night.

"Reina... my mouth hurts..." she mumbled while rubbing her cheek, a sleepy pout on her face.

Both of them currently sitting together at the table, eating breakfast. Reina was calmly sipping her tea, pretending not to hear.

"You didn't make me chew something weird in my sleep, right?" Kiana narrowed her eyes suspiciously, still half-asleep.

Reina didn't answer. She just gave a small smile while looking away.

"...Reina?"

"Nope. Must be from all your sleep talking," Reina replied flatly, not even glancing her way.

Kiana puffed her cheeks. "Hmph! That doesn't make sense!"

But Reina just continued sipping her tea, as if nothing happened at all except for the rest of morning she's avoiding looking at Kiana.

"By the way why you have bandage on your neck," Kiana said, pointing toward Reina's right neck.

"Last night I just had an accident during my experiment, nothing much," Reina answered instantly like she already prepared the answer if Kiana asked something.

"Can't you just heal that? It's a small wound right?"

"Yea but I don't want to waste my energy to heal small wound like this," she answered again while chewing her bread.

The real reason why Reina didn't heal that because Sora earlier said to not remove it after their 'play' as master and servant.

So here she is just using bandage to hide it.

"Oh right, I'm sorry Kiana, but today and for the entire week I'm gonna stay in my dimension, so we probably only meet at night," Reina said casually, not thinking much of it.

"WHAT!?" For Kiana, that news was worse than anything else she could imagine.

"WHY??? Why did you suddenly say that?? Did I do something wrong? Did you find out I eat snacks at night? I'm sorry! It's my fault! I won't do it again!"

Kiana immediately burst into tears, hugging Reina tightly, trying to stop her from leaving. Just the thought of not being with Reina for even an hour was unbearable-now it was going to be for the whole week?

"No, no, it's not that. It's because I want to accelerate my experiment before New Year. I barely had time to do it the last few months."

But Kiana kept crying, not even hearing her.

It took Reina almost an hour to calm her down, to finally make Kiana listen.

"I see... sniff I thought you hated me or something..."

"No. That's the only thing I'll never be able to do. Unless you do something really bad to me, that'll never happen."

"But what should I tell the teacher if they ask for you?"

"I already told them I have a sickness that needs me to rest for a week. Here, you can bring this sick note from Nagazora Hospital."

Reina pulled out a piece of paper with a doctor's recommendation. It was obviously fake-something she made herself-but it looked official, with a convincing stamp. The teachers wouldn't bother checking it anyway.

"Alright... But what should I tell Mei and Yuna?"

"Mei and Yuna, huh..." Reina paused, thinking. Both of them still didn't know about her powers or about Honkai, so in the end, she told Kiana to give them the same excuse.

"Are you sure?" Kiana asked, hesitating.

"Hmm, yeah. Why?" Reina tilted her head in confusion.

A few hours later, during lunch break...

"REINA IS SICK??"

Mei and Yuna screamed in unison after Kiana finally explained why Reina hadn't shown up at school during their lunch break at rooftop.

Kiana flinched so hard she nearly dropped her bento.

"Wait, wait! It's not that bad-"

"How can you say that!?" Mei was already grabbing her bento trying to stand up to go back to the class. "What hospital is she in? Is she on IV drip? Did she eat? What's her body temperature!? We need to go right now!"

"She's not even in a hospital-!"

But Kiana's voice got completely drowned out by Mei's panic mode. Mei was already halfway to the door, pulling Yuna's arm with her like this was a national emergency.

Yuna, while clearly worried too, wasn't nearly as frantic. She tried to keep up but looked back at Kiana, a bit unsure. "Are you sure she's okay? Reina's not the type to skip school without a reason..."

"I said she's not really-!"

"let's buy her some fruit or something! She probably needs vitamins! What if she's lost her appetite? What if she's bedridden??" Mei was already making plans like Reina was on her deathbed.

"I HAVE VITAMIN C TABLETS!" Yuna shouted helpfully, her eyes wide as she searched her pocket.

Kiana stared at the scene in front of her, slack-jawed.

While Kiana is busy with Mei and Yuna meanwhile Reina was just floating upside down in her private dimension eating snacks while running experiments.

Clutching her head, Kiana groaned loudly.

"This is all your fault, Reina!!!"

In the end, Kiana had no choice but to explain the real reason to Mei and Yuna. If she didn't, they were seriously going to leave school in the middle of the afternoon just to go check on Reina.

"Experiment? I never knew she liked doing that kind of thing," Yuna said after listening to Kiana's explanation.

"But... does she really need to skip school for the entire week just for that?" Mei asked, still worried.

She had never seen Reina miss school before. Reina was always present-calm, mysterious, and collected-so her absence felt out of place, even unsettling. Mei could understand being absent for sickness or family reasons, but an experiment?

"Well... She's always been like that," Kiana replied, scratching her cheek with a sheepish smile. "When she starts doing experiments, she hates being interrupted. She'll lock herself in her room for hours-or days-and totally forget about everything else."

"What kind of experiment?" Yuna asked innocently.

That was exactly the question Kiana didn't want to hear.

She couldn't exactly say: "Oh, Reina's just experimenting with the core of my other self that could potentially destroy the entire world, and now she's trying to create another one, haha~!" That would go about as well as expected.

"W-Well... It's really important to her, so don't think too much about it!" Kiana waved her hands around in a panic, quickly shifting the conversation. "A-Anyway, Mei! It's time to start again!"

"Start... again?" Mei blinked in confusion.

"Our investigation, of course!" Kiana declared, her voice full of energy as she dramatically pulled a small detective cap from her pocket and plopped it onto her head. "Detective Kiana is back on the case!"

Mei and Yuna just stared at her, deadpan, watching her strike a confident pose like a child.

"You still haven't given up on that?" Mei said, letting out a sigh. "I thought you dropped it since we didn't continue at all last week."

"Well, that's because Yuna was still new, but now she's totally used to us, right?" Kiana said with a grin, throwing her arm around Yuna's shoulder.

"Wait-what investigation?" Yuna asked, raising her hand with a confused look.

Kiana and Mei began explaining everything to Yuna-the strange little case they'd been involved in over the past two weeks.

It all started when Kiana first heard about a series of missing persons cases. All the victims were female, and all of them had disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

With Reina constantly buried in her experiments and daily responsibilities, Kiana had decided to take it upon herself to investigate the matter.

Of course, her investigation didn't go particularly well. She wasn't exactly the best at gathering clues or connecting dots-thinking things through logically just wasn't her strong point.

That was when she decided to rope Mei into the case. With her calm demeanor and strong network of connections, Mei was the perfect partner to help ask around the school and dig up more details.

Unfortunately, Mei was also busy. Between her classmates, friends, and the endless stream of people asking her for help, she could only join Kiana for two days before having to step away again.

Even so, those two days proved invaluable. Thanks to Mei's reputation and her way with people, they gathered a surprising amount of useful information.

Some of the teachers had tried to discourage them from continuing. They warned the girls that the investigation might be dangerous. But after Mei smoothly told them it was just for reference since Kiana and Reina were new students they'd quickly softened and even offered to help.

"And then we found out that all the missing girls disappear near this school," Kiana told Yuna. Her expression grew serious as she leaned in.

"So today, we're gonna ask people nearby. Try to find anything suspicious," she added.

Yuna blinked. "Isn't that dangerous? If the police haven't figured anything out, what can we do? We're just normal students."

Kiana puffed out her chest proudly. "Don't worry! I might not look like it, but I'm really strong, you know!"

Because Kiana kept urging them over and over again, Mei and Yuna eventually gave in. In the end, they agreed to accompany her after school for her so-called "investigation."

A few hours later, with classes finished for the day, Mei quickly informed her friends at the Kendo club that she wouldn't be joining practice today. And just like that, the trio—Mei, Yuna, and an overly enthusiastic Kiana—began walking around the school grounds.

The plan, as Mei and Yuna understood it, was simple: ask around and see if anyone had noticed anything strange or suspicious. It was an investigation, after all.

Or so they thought.

"How much is this ice cream? A hundred yen? Great! I'll take three," Kiana cheerfully said to the vendor at a small stand. Then, without missing a beat, she added, "By the way, have you seen anyone suspicious around here lately? No? Okay! I'll take this one too. So how much does that make it?"

Next, Kiana approached an old lady slowly making her way down the sidewalk. "Excuse me, Grandma! Seen anyone shady around here recently? No? Then hop on! I'll help you cross the street. Let's go!"

"...Hop on?" Yuna echoed under her breath, stunned.

Then, she marched over to a group of elementary school kids. "Hey, kids! Seen anything weird lately? No? Wait—why are you all backing away? I'm not suspicious!"

Finally, Kiana crouched down beside a random street cat lounging in the sun. "And what about you? Did you see anyone suspicious? Hm? Of course you didn't. You're too busy being cute~" she said, gently patting the cat's head as it meowed.

From a short distance behind her, Mei and Yuna stood frozen in place, watching Kiana's "investigation" unfold like a bizarre street performance.

"...Is this really what she meant by asking around?" Yuna muttered.

Mei could only sigh in silence.

They ended up wandering aimlessly for about an hour, walking around without any clear direction until eventually, they settled down at the park to take a break.

"Damn… We didn't find a single useful clue today," Kiana muttered in frustration, flopping onto a bench with an exaggerated sigh.

"It's not going to be that easy," Mei replied calmly as she sat beside her. "Even the police haven't found anything yet."

"Ughhh, I wish Reina was here… If she was, this would've been over in no time," Kiana grumbled, slumping even further—this time leaning her entire body onto Yuna.

"E-Ehh? Kiana?" Yuna flinched, surprised by the sudden contact as Kiana pressed herself against her.

"Ahhh… you always smell so nice, Yuna…" Kiana murmured dreamily, sniffing contentedly. "I don't know why, but you smell like flowers… earthy… fresh… it's just so pleasant~"

"Wh-What are you even saying!?" Yuna's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment as she tried to push Kiana away. "Stop it!"

Both Mei and Kiana had long noticed it—Yuna gave off a soothing, floral scent. Something natural, like the fragrance of a spring garden after the rain. It had this strange effect of calming them down, making them feel at ease just being near her.

Of course, Reina already knew the real reason behind Yuna's unique scent. But to Kiana and Mei, they simply believed it was part of Yuna's natural smell.

"[Are you stupid or something?]" Sora's voice suddenly echoed inside Kiana's head.

"Hah? Who're you calling stupid?!" Kiana snapped aloud, standing up straight and yelling toward the air.

Both Mei and Yuna jolted in surprise, staring at her as her demeanor changed in an instant.

"What happened?" Yuna asked, confused.

"[Oh, my bad. That was a dumb question. Of course you're stupid,]" Sora replied flatly.

"Stop calling me stupid, you stupid!"

As usual, the two of them fell into bickering, leaving Mei and Yuna blinking in silence, entirely unsure what was going on.

"Kiana? Are you… tired? Should we stop for today?" Mei asked, her voice filled with concern.

"[My, what a coincidence,]" another voice suddenly echoed—this one inside Mei's mind.

'My other self? You've been quiet since last night. What do you mean by coincidence?' Mei asked internally, her tone wary.

"[You'll find out soon,]" the Herrscher of Thunder replied before falling silent once more.

Meanwhile, Sora continued speaking to Kiana. "[Anyway, I don't feel like wasting more time arguing with you. I want to finish rewatching this memory. You've been busy with this investigation stuff for days now.]"

"Yes, so… you're saying you figured something out?" Kiana asked, serious now.

"[From what you've gathered, it's obvious the culprit isn't a normal human. They're probably using some kind of power to manipulate people's memories or perception. That's why no one knows anything.]"

"Hmm…"

"[So your normal methods won't work. You need to use my power—focus on sensing Honkai energy. If my guess is right, the culprit might be some kind of people that have Honkai power or tools to manipulate honkai… or even a pseudo-Herrscher.]"

"Pseudo? What does that mean?"

"[…Just use my core and get it over with already. I want my turn to use the body.]"

"[Also, don't forget to activate the bracelet before you do. I don't want any of those annoying people showing up again.]"

With that, Sora's voice went quiet.

"I see… thank you, Sora," Kiana said softly, smiling a little.

Even if they always bicker, they still helped each other when it really mattered—especially when it involved the one person they both loved, though Sora would never admit it aloud.

Kiana touched the bracelet on her right wrist. It glowed faintly, activating in response. Reina had modified it months ago, building in layers of protection. The most important feature cloaked her entirely—ensuring no Honkai energy would leak out, infecting others, or alerting some kind of organization.

Taking a breath, Kiana focused inward—feeling the core embedded deep within her begin to stir. Slowly, she allowed its power to flow through her body in small amounts.

She stopped before it could spread too far.

"Now… let's find the culprit!" she said, flashing a confident smile as she turned to face Mei and Yuna.

The moment she turned around, both of them noticed it—her left eye now shone a bright yellow, in stark contrast to the usual vivid blue of her right.
