Chapter 4 - Experiment II

"Yeah, I may have forgot to add something important. If that's the case, what could it be?" Hanz tries to recollect the memory of the specific time Douglas was watching some Utube. However, it is foggy.

The memory are vague and some details are hard to remember. He knows that this process can create ammonia, but how exactly?

Also, if this process is already hard, how farther would it require him to explore just to see those elements required.

Hanz bangs his head towards the desk, alerting the maids around him.

"Young master, are you alright?" Helen asks.

"I'm fine, just trying to make sense of this."

"We should probably rest for now, we have all the time we need." Krisiana added.

Hanz turn his head sideway, eyeing the glass filled with both hydrogen and nitrogen. Then he stands up and left the room.

---

The next day, once again, they are at the garden. The maids busy themselves with the flowers and brushes, while he contemplates about the life of Douglas and how can it help him advance.

He certainly lived a fulfilling childhood, with lots of memory filled with knowledge at stock. The only issue came after he graduated from college, where his misery began.

That must've been the reason why the deeper memories are foggy. It's shackled by the overwhelming emotion of Douglas.

He takes a sip of the coffee, and closes his eyes. He wants to know how to bypass it, perhaps, understand the emotion and feel it, then use it to access deeper.

Or, he can just invent a new illusion spell that target an individual's mind, particularly their memories and extract if possible. But, then again. Johanni is good at illusion spell, she was trained by her mother before she became my maid.

But she could only recreate a holographic moving image, and manipulate targeted individual's emotion.

Basically, it can only write, not read.

"Lord Hanz, his excellency calls for you." A knight, armored in every bit of his body, smack his chest and bows.

Hanz nodded, and gesture his maids to move. He knows what his father wants.

---

Moving through the hall, he catch a glimpse of the knights from the window at front. His father's knights. They are his private guards, but with exceptional skills and mostly protects him during battlefield.

They are well above the infantries, but they rarely have direct command over them since they are prohibited to do so. Commonly, father commands them to act as chavalry when breaking enemy formation.

"Father." He calls for his father, who is preparing to ride the luxurious wagon.

"My son," A stern look, "Remember, if we fail this, you are to immediately succeed, we have enemies even within the empire."

"Yes, father."

"Also, don't get pressured. Ruling is no different from what you have been doing so far, just a little more responsibility." I nodded, then he continues, "Iron your resolve so we do not fall under enemy's grasp. We will henceforth rely on your governance until I return."

Hanz know what his father is saying. Such tasks often leads to death. And even if it doesn't lead it to that, it would take years or perhaps decades for them to finish the war.

As a duke, his father holds high responsibility since he also controls large portion of the empire's border territory.

Wait...

"Father, can you repeat that for me?" Hanz furrow his brow, trying to remember what his father just said. He felt a sense of familiarity with it.

"What?" Julius cock his head backwards, confuse about his son's ruining question.

"What you said earlier, I didn't catch it."

"We will rely on your governance?"

"No, no before that. Your first statement."

"Iron your resolve—"

"Yes, that! Father... another one, the one you said before."

"A little more responsibility?"

"No! Not that, the first thing you said."

"If we fail, you must succeed?"

"No, no, no... after that!"

"Son, you are confusing me."

"Please, father. This is important."

"Don't get pressu—"

"Thaaat!" Hanz's eyes sparks in excitement as he finally identifies the missing components.

"Father, I just got what we needed to produce the fertilizer we will need to mass yield crops!" Hanz cannot contain his excitement and rush towards the manor, leaving his father and his maids flabbergasted.

"Since when did he became like that?" His father asked his maids.

"My lord, as early as three years ago."

"I see. Well, I better get going... and watch him."

"Yes. Certainly." The maids bow, and the Duke enters the wagon, leaving the manor.

The maids return to the mansion as well, following their young master who must've gone to the laboratory of his.

"Krisiana!" Hanz calls from the lab, which made Krisiana runs fast towards it.

"Yes, young master?"

"I need high heat, four hundred fifty degrees celcius."

"Yes, young master." Krisiana moves with experienced hand as she place the oil filled tanks just below the glass containing some leftover nitrogen and hydrogen gas. However...

"No, no need for that. You can continuously cast fire spell, right?"

"Yes, young master."

"Good, Helen, can you get me some iron?" Seeing that the rest of the maids have come, Hanz orders Helen to take some materials that contain iron such as armor, sword, etc.

"Iron will act as a catalyst, but for that to happen, we need you... Elaina. I heard you know gravity spell?" Elaina smiles gently and nod, her eyes slant a bit but has a beautiful expression.

"Yes. Young master."

"Good, then I will give you these," Hanz handed Elaina six piece of hard flat metal. " Put it inside the glass filled with nitrogen and hydrogen, then when I command, use the spell and push them toward the center of the glass."

"What about me, young master?" Johanni sneaks a peek around my shoulder.

"You cool the glass, enough for a liquid to form and leaks from the four metal piece."
