On the third day at Jia Yunwan's home, Li Mian climbed out of bed.
Though some remnants of the toxin lingered, she was already able to move freely, while Erha had long since recovered and was happily playing with the pile of toys in the living room.
Jia Chengyi quickly urged Li Mian to sit down and have some fruit.
"Thank you, Uncle."
Li Mian didn't stand on ceremony and obediently picked up a cherry.
"Oh, Mianmian, I'm really sorry. I had no idea the dishes would affect you guys so much."
"It's okay, really."
Li Mian quickly reassured him: "It's really fine. Uncle, please don't blame yourself."
"Even so, Mianmian, I just can't let it go. How about this—I may not have any great achievements, but I'm still a special breeder. Let me enhance your beast to Silver tier for you, what do you say?"
Li Mian froze for a second.
If he had made this offer before she awakened the Evolution Atlas, she would've gladly accepted.
But now…
She had already planned Erha's enhancement route, and if someone else interfered…
Li Mian couldn't think of a way to refuse and was at a loss when Jia Yunwan stepped in to save her: "Dad, stop joking around."
"Rather than you enhancing it for her, why not teach her to become a breeder herself? Then she can train her own beast."
Li Mian's eyes lit up at these words.
Clearly, Jia Yunwan had noticed her dilemma and deliberately intervened to help her out.
Not only that, she even suggested Jia Chengyi become Li Mian's teacher!?
Li Mian was deeply moved—
Jia Yunwan was, without a doubt, the best teacher she had ever met, bar none!
Meanwhile, Jia Chengyi was barely suppressing the grin threatening to split his face.
He shot Jia Yunwan a look—one that unmistakably said: Good daughter, Dad's proud of you, such a sensible girl!
Jia Yunwan: "…"
She sat there, utterly speechless.
The two of them—one had long decided to make her his student, while the other had been practically glowing at the mention of his breeder reputation, brimming with ambition.
Anyone with eyes could see it, right!?
She silently watched as the two exchanged exaggerated humility.
One insisted she was unworthy of such generosity.
The other waved it off as compensation for the mishap, declaring there was no question of worthiness—she absolutely deserved it.
Jia Yunwan's scalp prickled, feeling as uncomfortable as a pancake being flipped on a griddle.
Finally, Jia Chengyi smacked the table: "Good girl, it's settled then."
"Starting today, you're my personal disciple!"
Not one to hesitate, Li Mian happily accepted and then raised the fruit in her hand without missing a beat: "Hello, Master!"
"A small gesture, hardly worth mentioning, but please do accept it."
Jia Chengyi joyfully took the fruit: "Excellent, excellent!"
"Good child, come here and let me take a look at you. Truly clever and bright!"
"Not at all, not at all…"
…
Save me.
Jia Yunwan groaned, pressing a pillow to her face: "I'm gonna lose it."
"You two—enough already!"
"It's just taking on a student! Why so excited? And it's not like you've never seen a dual-talent before!"
She turned to Li Mian: "And you! Giving my dad the fruit he gave you as a gift? Have you no shame?"
"Do you!?"
Even Li Mian's thick skin couldn't withstand such a blunt exposure, and she flushed.
"I didn't bring anything! I was planning to prepare proper gifts after I go home."
"Good child, good child. Forget the gift—just acknowledging me as your teacher is enough."
Jia Chengyi patted Li Mian's hand warmly, then glared at Jia Yunwan: "Why do you have to run your mouth? You call yourself a teacher? The way you nag, even Erha's yapping is more tolerable than you."
Jia Yunwan: ?
Should I leave then?
She watched gloomily as the newly-formed master-disciple duo chatted away, suddenly feeling like there was no place for her in this home anymore.
The world was vast, yet she had lost even her own home.
Jia Yunwan pulled a face and inched sideways…
By a centimeter.
As if! She wasn't going anywhere!
She was staying to listen to the gossip!
By now, Li Mian and Jia Chengyi had moved on to discussing beasts' temperaments and growth.
"Master, as you just said, every beast has its own personality, and each one requires a detailed plan. Doesn't that mean we, as tamers, have it tough?"
"And different temperaments lead to different outcomes."
"One beast is manageable, but what about ten? Or twenty?"
Jia Chengyi chuckled: "Indeed, coordinating them is difficult. Beasts may even fight among themselves—mine often do."
"But if you treat them all fairly, the conflicts lessen."
Li Mian pondered: "Like balancing a household with multiple children?"
"Exactly!"
Jia Chengyi sighed admiringly: "I knew I wasn't wrong about you. Your understanding is remarkable."
"As for planning, you don't have to do it all alone."
"If you raise one beast well, it can lead the others. The results might surprise you."
Li Mian's eyes lit up.
Did that mean once Erha was strong enough, she could have it train her future beasts?
Well played—why hadn't she thought of that!
Truly, one conversation with a master is worth ten years of study.
She nodded gratefully: "I see."
"Thank you, Master. I think I know what to do now."
"Well said, well said."
Jia Chengyi smiled before shifting the topic: "Now that we've covered beasts, let's discuss something else."
"Please, Master."
"Your talent skill."
Li Mian stiffened slightly.
After a pause, she resolved herself.
"Master, I won't hide it from you."
"I do have two talents."
Jia Chengyi's smile widened: "Just as I suspected."
"If I'm not mistaken, one of them is The Eye of True Sight, correct?"
Li Mian nodded.
"And the other?"
She looked up at him: "Can't you see it, Master?"
"After all, your talent is The Eye of True Sight too."
"True, mine is The Eye of True Sight as well."
"But…"
Jia Chengyi shook his head: "I can't see your second skill."
Li Mian was shocked: "You can't?"
"No."
"Surprised?"
He chuckled: "Honestly, so am I."
