Chapter 37 - The Letter from Hinata Hyuga

"Naruto, if you keep skipping class like this, won't Sasuke actually beat you up?"

Kiba Inuzuka looked curiously at Naruto, who sat sulking by the edge of the training field. He was a little surprised that Naruto would even get into a fight with Sasuke.

The usual group of four class-cutters had gathered again—some out of curiosity that Naruto was already skipping school so soon after the term started, and others out of sheer annoyance at the noisy classroom.

"Even if I don't skip class, he'll still beat me up. So why should I keep listening to him? You guys don't know how annoying Sasuke is. I do the laundry, cook, clean the house, I do everything! And he still wants me to spar with him. Do you know what kind of insane taijutsu he has? He beat Hyuga Neji into the ground!"

The more Naruto spoke, the more aggrieved he looked. He plopped down on the ground and began listing all the reasons Sasuke was such a pain.

After all, it was Sasuke the jerk who had dared to talk to girls in class and even accepted a gift!

He was furious right now—absolutely, completely furious!

Meanwhile, back in the classroom, Sasuke sat tilted toward the window, ignoring the group of chattering girls around him completely.

All he had done was accept a letter brought by Hinata Hyuga, and he hadn't even said a single word about it.

Besides, the letter Hinata delivered wasn't even from her—it was something Neji Hyuga had asked her to pass along. It wasn't some love letter or anything like that.

Could these people just stop talking? It was seriously irritating!

"Sasuke-kun, was Hinata confessing her love to you? Was she? Huh? Tell us!"

A few girls in the class had been speculating for ages with no resolution, so one of them finally gathered the courage to ask Sasuke directly.

Hinata wasn't far behind them, but ever since her older brother had shown up in the classroom to speak with Sasuke, no one dared to bother her anymore.

Just the memory of her brother's gaze was enough to make the girls uneasy—even after all this time. It was as if, should Hinata ever be upset, they'd be the ones to suffer the consequences.

At least after occasionally witnessing Sasuke and Hyuga Neji spar, which always ended with both of them being sent to the hospital, very few civilians—whether out of kindness or malice—dared to get close to Hinata.

"Annoying!"

Sasuke was surrounded by a group of girls, and he let out a disgruntled hum, not wanting to explain anything further.

"Sasuke-kun, um... is the letter important?"

Sakura, standing behind Sasuke, was also one of the noisy ones earlier, but she insisted that the letter was not a confession.

Now, seeing Sasuke glare, Sakura's curiosity was piqued, and she really wanted to know what the letter was about.

"Read it yourself!"

Sasuke casually slapped the letter down in front of Sakura. Watching the girls' attention shift to the letter instantly made him feel much more relieved.

"R-Really... can I?"

Sakura was flattered and looked up at Sasuke, wanting to confirm once more.

But Sasuke's gaze remained fixed outside the window. After calming herself, Sakura opened the letter amid the admiring glances of the other girls.

And then—

"A… challenge letter?"

Her expression shifted from anxious to shocked, and finally Sakura turned to look out the window, speechless.

The scenery outside was really nice. Even though she had seen it for years without much change, it was at least much more pleasant than this challenge letter.

After Sasuke graduates in a year and has a fight where he gives it his all, the Hyuga family always seems strangely curious.

Right at the start of the school year, Hinata was sent with the letter, and it turned out to be a challenge set for a year later. She even wondered if Neji Hyuga had some special feelings for Sasuke—why else would he still be so persistent after graduation?
