At one point, Yugong was also surprised his first cultivation session was so long.
But, seeing how there was still a lot of pus leaving his body, he assumed that he was naturally slower.
Many of those that had tested their spiritual roots were people from the city, where knowledge of cultivation was rather common.
Parents would intentionally avoid eating too much mortal food and try to get better food.
Although mortals can't buy spiritual food, anything that grows on a spiritual mountain will be slightly infected, and at least eating it won't create impurities.
Most parents would also think and hope that it enhances the chance that their children are immortal cultivation seeds.
On the other hand, people like Yugong would eat whatever was served on their plate, which was why they naturally gathered a lot of impurities.
Yugong didn't know the full story but just thought that he was probably even worse off as a person who ate a lot of meat.
He didn't know much about Taoist priests' food, but vaguely there was the idea that you shouldn't eat meat, or at least not much.
Anyways, time passed and Yugong felt the spiritual power finally not finding any impurities – that's right.
They weren't unable, they found every bit and cleaned it fully!
Every little spiritual particle in Yugong's body swam freely like a fish in water.
Yugong felt refreshed all over as the spiritual power gathered into his lower dantian.
The lower dantian was slightly below the navel, in the centre of gravity.
Spiritual power approached a gate right there – this was an invisible gate, an unreal gate.
The human has three different layers – body, spirit and soul.
These three layers were connected to the three different dantians.
The spirit layer is where spiritual power gathers, symbolising the lower dantian.
As for why one connects to an illusory lower spirit dantian instead of the very real middle dantian between the chest… Yugong had read about this once.
'Opening the middle dantian comes with a transformation of the whole body, which is something weaker cultivators can't do.
Instead, the lower dantian only requires one gathering to the spiritual power in the environment, which is rather easy.'
There was one thing Yugong didn't know, which was that this was also connected to spiritual practice being the mainstream of the cultivation world, with body and soul practice only chosen by a rare few.
Although the sword sect had arts for both of them, the sword heart art and the sword mind art, they were still not as popular as the sword spirit art, by far.
Not to mention, these peak techniques were chosen by the core disciples… below, the stark contrast between mainstream and branch paths was even more shocking.
Even some unorthodox spirit cultivation arts, such as music, were more popular…
As the spirit power gathered in front of the illusory gate, it became crowdy.
Spirit power was inherently constantly in motion, similar to wind but not entirely.
While wind can change its place, spiritual power only moved on the spot.
Like a person jumping up and down or going in a circle, spiritual power will not leave the area of the spiritual vein.
Still, the constant motion made it so that no matter where it was, it would constantly move.
Now, enclosed in the small space, a few particles would be fine in their movement.
But, with so many particles moving together, soon, it became too small.
Yugong felt how the spiritual power hit the gate of the spiritual sea more and more.
He forced himself to stay calm and repeat the motion of opening the gate.
This wasn't a painful experience, but extremely tiring.
Every movement seemed to wear and tear at Yugong's meridians.
The meridians that had just been cleaned have lost their "shield", they were bare in front of the spiritual power, experiencing every movement as damage.
'Maybe this is why elders don't help remove the impurities even though it would be quite easy.
The impurities defend the meridians from wrong use of spiritual power…'
He felt regretful, if he stopped earlier and forced the spiritual power to go to the next step, he wouldn't be in danger now.
Although it didn't feel painful because of the spiritual power's effect of numbing the nerves, with each moment, he felt the situation worsen.
"Break!" he screamed at the top of his lungs, using his voice to give his mind a command.
The triangular formation of particles in front of his forehead suddenly broke down, but it didn't disperse.
Instead, it entered his forehead formed a small seal between his eyebrows.
It was a seal of wind.
With the seal, suddenly, the spiritual power that seemed unorderly, focused together to break the gate.
The movement wasn't random anymore, instead, like a wave, the last few started a motion and the front few copied it.
It went all the way.
The gate was like a medieval castle being conquered.
*Rip*
A small sound suddenly spread in Yugong's body.
Right as it happened, he felt the spiritual power suddenly disappearing from his body.
He wasn't a foundation building cultivator just yet, so he couldn't inspect his body.
Up to now, he only followed his feelings.
But, as the spiritual power disappeared, Yugong understood that he couldn't feel with his body, but he had to try another way.
In the inheritance he gained, there was only one sentence
"Don't look with your senses, look with you heart, with your mind, with your roots."
He didn't understand when he read it, but now, he felt like an invisible organ in his body woke up.
'Is this my spiritual root?' he asked himself as he felt a weird thing inside his body.
It looked like a long root that stretched around his lower dantian.
Then, looking up, he actually saw something weird.
He saw that the spiritual root connected to something out of his body.
The inheritance didn't speak of this, but he saw very clearly how a small section went beyond his body.
But, he couldn't see more.
As this wasn't the right situation, he stopped himself from looking further and instead focused inside.
At the other end of the root, there was a small gate connected to a huge space.
