Chapter 3 - Chapter 3-A New Mutant Life

[3 Weeks Later]

'Finally we're out of that disgusting place.'

Adam thought, staring at the beautiful home before him.

'After selling that crystal, my mother received a hefty sum of eight million dollars, though I'm pretty sure she got scammed... no, wait, she definitely got scammed. Don't get me wrong, eight million is a lot, but that diamond was definitely worth a lot more. Well, it can't be helped, can it?'

His thoughts continued.

"Finally I'll be able to create a healthy life for you, my wonderful son—Adam."

Adam's mother rejoiced, tears of joy leaking from her eyes as she stared into her son's with a motherly glare.

The two went inside their new home, and instantly Adam went upstairs to his room. He began working on his geokinesis, discovering what it was truly capable of. He could create constructs of stone, summon miniature golems, and was only limited to what he could imagine.

Slowly his view towards his power began to shift, but not enough to actually enjoy having the ability out of all the other choices the wheel did not land on.

Nevertheless, he decided to continue training because at least in this world he could still become rich, and if he were to play his cards right, he could even develop a harem of his own. That is the hope he decided to hang onto with this power he calls useless.

[7 Years Later]

"Ma'am, I'm sorry, but we have no other choice but to expel your son. We can't have a rogue mutant freak running around; it creates an unpleasant image for us as a school... I hope you can understand."

A man wearing a high-quality raven-black suit said, struggling to divert his eyes from the woman's succulent curves.

"Well, that being said, I think I might be able to look over this little mishap... if you were willing to spend the night with me, that is."

He added, adorning a perverted grin.

"You perverted pig! How dare you say such revolting and crude words about me and my son?"

Adam's mother retorted, her anger fuming through her words.

Flowers sprouted from her flesh, beautiful poisonous flowers. Instantly the man felt threatened; his entire demeanor changed at the sight of these flowers and the malice-filled tone the woman used.

He jumped back out of his chair, the woman stepped out of her seat, and he backed away until he couldn't anymore, bumping into the wall behind him.

"Gee, you both are freaks." He shouted, unable to recognize the danger he was in due to his pride. "I could sue you for all the damage caused by your psycho of a son... an entire section of the school was destroyed in an instant. Even then, I gave you a way out. Now you've got no chance with me, you skank."

He said, with a confident chuckle, before snorting like a pig.

"It's going to cost a lot to remove that chunk of stone as well as reconstruct the building, and once word gets out that you and your son are mutants, I'm sure no one's going to accept you then... hope you're ready, bitch!"

He continued regaining his confidence as he adjusted his suit jacket.

Adam's mom decided to back down. The poisonous plants that protruded from her skin rotted away as she turned away to leave, filled with anger.

"What was that, pig?" She spoke confidently. "I should kill you, bastard."

"What was that? Did you just threaten me? Better write that down for court."

The man said, his tone more pushback than before, and his voice became calmer yet still filled with overconfidence and ego.

Adam's mom left the office, pissed. Adam approached her with a guilty demeanor, patting the back of his head. "Well, Mom, how'd it go?" He asked.

"Seriously, you are so grounded."

She replied, looking towards Adam with a scornful expression.

"Sorry, Mom."

Adam muttered, lowering his head.

'I definitely didn't see that coming. I mean, it just happened, and I couldn't control my powers. But who knew that being a kid again would be so harsh? That stupid brat Brian, what a loser.'

Adam thought while he followed his mom out of the school.

They left in an emerald Rolls-Royce Cullinan; their trip back home was in complete silence. Adam could only think back to his power and how strong it was. 'Yeah, I'm definitely building level... no large building level, definitely. What the heck—I'm probably even stronger than that.'

When they arrived home, Adam was sent straight to his room, though he didn't think much of it, as he was more preoccupied with his powers. He wanted to figure out how to control that outburst from before.

(30 Minutes Later)

*Knock!*

*Knock!*

A knock sounded at the door; Adam's mother quickly went to check while Adam, still locked away in his room, decided to take a peek out of the window. He was a bit surprised to see who was there.

When Adam's mother answered the door, she was met with a paralyzed bald man seated in a high-tech wheelchair. He wore a spiffy suit that made his appearance shout "rich guy."

"Hello, ma'am, it has come to my attention that a powerful mutant lives here, one with geokinesis, from what I've gathered at least."

The man said in his calming tone.

"And who are you?"

Adam's mom responded with noticeable caution.

"It appears I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Professor Charles Xavier. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You see, I run a unique school for mutants, where they're taught to control their abilities and are able to live out normal lives among other mutant students. I have a feeling that your son will be a great fit."

Xavier answered, reaching out his hand as a sign of friendliness.

Adam's mom shook his hand as a sign of manners. She wasn't friendly; she was rather suspicious.

"That just happened this afternoon; how come you've already heard about it?"

She asked, glaring towards Xavier with mistrusting eyes.

"Oh well, I have my ways, people around here and there. And I must say knowledge travels fast."

Xavier said, with a mysteriously cunning grin.

'Professor X?' Adam thought, his eyes widening with a sense of joy. 'Could it be... he's trying to recruit me or something? There's no way I can miss out on a chance like that. I'll finally be able to become a hero. I can not let my mother ruin this for me.'

He continued while eavesdropping on the entire conversation through mini golems he created since he couldn't directly leave his room.

But that didn't stop him from bursting out of his room and rushing downstairs to stop his mother from doing something he'd regret if she did.

"Adam... you're grounded. What are you doing here?"

Adam's mom questioned, giving Adam an infuriated look.

"I heard you talking to someone and thought you might be going insane..."

Adam said jokingly before chuckling.

Though his mother was easily able to see through him, "Adam, were you eavesdropping again?" She asked.

"Maybe, but that's not important right now. What is—is school... right, Mom?"

Adam said, retaining his joking, easygoing tone.

"Well, I guess, but—"

Adam's mom said before being cut off by Adam, "Exactly, so you should definitely accept this kind man's offer, then I won't have to hide my powers anymore." Adam leaned in closer with a cunning grin. "It's stressful knowing that I can burst at any minute, biting at me at every waking second. It'd be nice meeting people like me who I can really be myself around."

Adam's mother paused for a second, taking in his words before finally deciding to accept the offer, thinking of the impact it could have on her son. "Fine, you may go, Adam, but first, where is this school?"

"Salem, New York... Also, it's a residential school, so he'll be staying, though you're free to visit him at any time."

Xavier said, forgetting to mention it before.

Instantly Adam's mom's expression shifted; she became more cautious of the school again, hesitant to send her son away.

"Hold on, Mom, I already know what you're thinking, but I promise you I'll be fine. I won't get into any trouble, and I promise to work my hardest."

Adam exclaimed, panicking that his mother might change her mind.

Instead, she took a deep breath in, exhaling all the bad thoughts about what could happen to Adam at that school.

"Ughh, I've already made up my mind, so I guess against my better judgement you may go. Plus, you seem so adamant about doing this; you're never excited about things, especially school. And though I don't know if I can trust this strange man, I'll give it a try."

Adam's mom spoke, her voice more calm and taken aback.

"Strange man..."

Xavier whispered.

Adam ran over to his mother and gave her a massive bear hug. "Thanks, Mom, I swear you won't regret it. I'll make you proud, I promise."

*Sigh*

She sighed before giving a motherly smile.

"You better!"

She demanded, maintaining the motherly aura she gives off.

Quickly Adam went to his room and gathered all his necessary items before rejoining Professor X downstairs. He was excited to begin this new life, his hopes high about becoming a hero. After telling his mother goodbye, he and Professor X left in a helicopter bearing the letter X on both sides.

(3 Hours Later)

Later that night, Adams's mother heard another knocking at the door. "Adam, don't tell me you already got kicked out..."

She said as she went to open the door.

But waiting was not Adam; it was a well-built man with a demanding posture. He wore a black suit of high quality, an eye patch over his left eye, and an X-shaped scar over his right. Accompanying him by his sides were two well-built men wielding automatic guns; they wore grey outfits with a black bulletproof vest over them.

"It has come to my attention that a powerful mutant with geokinesis lives here. Is that true?"

The man wearing the black suit said, getting straight to the point of his visit.

Adam's mom was visibly annoyed as she said, "It seems everybody heard the same news... Though what do you want with my son?"

"Nothing, ma'am. My name is Arthur King, and I believe that we can help your son harness and control his abilities."

Arthur said, with a stern face and toned voice.

"That's what the man who left with him said, but unlike him, I have a hard time trusting you. Especially since these two knuckleheads have guns with them, the other guy came alone."

Adam's mother said, before reaching for the door, but as she was about to close it Arthur stopped her, putting his foot in the way of the door.

"Sorry, ma'am, but we are not done here. Tell us where your son has been taken, or we'll have problems."

Arthur spoke demandingly, grabbing the woman's shoulder.

Adam's mother was visibly irritated by the man's approach, and flowers began sprouting from her face and arms. The men became sleepy, their bodies wobbling back and forth.

"You see, these beautiful flowers are known as gardenias; they produce a powerful, relaxing scent, and that scent is being pushed even further by my power... Take this as an account to never threaten me again, because next time I can easily use a poisonous flower instead."

Adam's mom was about to close the door again, but once more she was stopped. She felt something wrap around her wrist and heard a clicking sound that followed it. When she looked down at her hands, she was restrained in some kind of metal handcuffs.

"Well, ma'am, you see, these are special handcuffs made to neutralize mutant abilities. You're nothing special... Take her, boys."

Arthur remarked while turning to leave.
