Chapter 80: Didn't You Just Say Doctors Were Nothing Special?

"Alright, The Security Guard, I know this isn't your fault. We can only blame that damn weed whacker."

Although The Security Guard was a bit hard of hearing, he could still barely make out Xia Shang's words. He chuckled and said, "People from the big city are different. Not like the people here, who treat security guards like slaves."

"Oh, right, there's someone else moving in today. It wouldn't be you, would it?" The Security Guard then looked at Cha Hyun-soo.

Cha Hyun-soo softly replied, "Yes."

Actually, his purpose for moving was to find a quiet place to commit suicide. He was originally a shut-in and a victim of school bullying. Because his Father worked for the family business of a Rich Second Generation classmate, that Rich Second Generation bullied him in every way. However, to protect his Father's job, Cha Hyun-soo had endured the Rich Second Generation's bullying at school.

But when he returned home, instead of comfort, he was met with indifference.

His Father didn't show any sign of heartache or understanding towards him. Even his Mother and sister didn't understand his actions.

This made Cha Hyun-soo utterly despair about his family.

However, an accident led to the death of all his family members. At this point, Cha Hyun-soo felt like a rootless duckweed, unable to find any anchor. He now intensely missed his past life, the feeling of having a family.

"Hey, I'm Xia Shang. Can you tell me your name?" Xia Shang, with a smile on his face, placed his hand on Cha Hyun-soo's shoulder.

The sudden kindness made the bullied Cha Hyun-soo very uncomfortable.

He instinctively took a step back, moving away from Xia Shang's hand. However, he quickly realized his action was a bit impolite, so he said in a voice like a mosquito's buzz, "Cha Hyun-soo."

"What's your Room number? Maybe I'm in the Room next door," Xia Shang asked with a smile.

"1410."

"1410? That's a bit of a shame. My door number is 1419, a little far from your Room."

Afterward, Xia Shang and Cha Hyun-soo walked into the Apartment together. Cha Hyun-soo was silent along the way, only answering when Xia Shang asked a question.

The environment inside the Apartment was similar to its exterior, clearly showing the marks of time. The people living here were basically at the bottom of society, as there was nowhere cheaper than Green Home within a hundred miles.

"Today is your first day moving in. I wish you a pleasant life," Xia Shang stopped in front of the door numbered 1410.

Cha Hyun-soo wanted to say thank you, but having not interacted with people for a long time, he pursed his lips and ultimately couldn't say it.

Seeing this, Xia Shang smiled at him and then walked towards his own Room.

He took the key out of his pocket and opened the door. The furnishings in the Room looked very clean, suggesting the previous tenant had only recently left.

Xia Shang had actually guessed correctly. The previous tenant of the Room had indeed only recently "left" – they had committed suicide by cutting their wrists, and blood had flowed all over the floor. The Security Guard had taken a lot of effort to clean it up. For the tenants in the Apartment, having seen such things many times, it was already commonplace.

"Sweet Home..." Xia Shang sat on the sofa and began to recall the memory in his mind related to this show.

He seemed to remember that the monsters in this show weren't caused by viral infection, but originated from the desires in people's hearts.

And in the early stages of infection, the infected would see a mirror image exactly like themselves in their consciousness.

Moreover, this mirror image would constantly communicate with the infected, making them succumb to their desires. If the infected had a particularly strong desire at this time and didn't have the ability to achieve it, their body would be conquered by the mirror image and modified into a slave of desire. Xia Shang actually thought it would be more accurate to replace desire with obsession.

"What a pity, that kind of thing seems to only be effective on humans." Xia Shang, who had fused multiple innate abilities, could no longer be considered a true ordinary human from a gene level. Otherwise, he would also be very curious about what terrifying monster his own inner desires could give birth to. On the other side, Cha Hyun-soo was leaning against the wall, constantly struggling with whether or not to commit suicide.

For some reason, Xia Shang's face suddenly appeared in his mind. It had been a long time since he had felt kindness from someone else.

Cha Hyun-soo shook his head and went to the Rooftop.

He stood on the Rooftop, looking down at the flow of cars on the Highway. As the cool breeze swept past him, for some reason, Cha Hyun-soo suddenly didn't feel like jumping anymore.

Then he turned his head and saw Lee Eun-yu. Lee Eun-yu was dancing ballet on the Rooftop. She also saw Cha Hyun-soo's thought of wanting to commit suicide and told Cha Hyun-soo not to commit suicide here, as it would affect others.

At the same time.

The Security Guard was being harassed by his supervisor, who wanted him to move the bed out of the security guard room.

"What?" The Security Guard looked bewildered, not knowing why he had to move the bed.

"Many residents have complained, hoping to have the bed in the security guard room moved out. It's because there's a bed that you're so lax and doze off all day," the Apartment's Property Manager said arrogantly.

Facing his supervisor, The Security Guard could only repeatedly endure.

Just then, Xia Shang arrived and took in the scene. He walked over and patted the Property Manager's shoulder. "What's the harm in letting him rest a bit? You shouldn't be so awful."

"Who are you? How dare you lecture me?" If the Property Manager hadn't seen Xia Shang wearing a white coat, he would have already started cursing at him.

"Don't think you're great just because you're a doctor. If you were really a big shot, you wouldn't be living here..."

Suddenly, he stopped mid-sentence, clutching his chest and kneeling before Xia Shang. He felt as if someone was constantly stabbing his heart with needles.

The intense pain made him quickly beg Xia Shang for help: "Doctor, save me, save me."

Xia Shang adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and smiled as he squatted in front of him. "Didn't you just say doctors were nothing special? How do you feel now?"

"Please, I apologize to you, I apologize to you," the Property Manager gasped for breath, his eyeballs filled with red blood vessels.

The Security Guard nearby felt a little soft-hearted. He quietly said, "I think you should save him. Give him a hand."

"If you want me to save you, it'll cost ten million Korean Won," Xia Shang said with a smile.

"Can... can it be less? I don't have that much money."

The Property Manager pleaded.

By this time, onlookers had gathered around. Many people stepped forward to accuse Xia Shang of taking advantage of the situation, and even more cursed him as a disgrace to doctors.

However, Xia Shang didn't care about these curses at all. He still smiled and looked at the Property Manager. "I'm going out for a bit now. Are you sure you want money instead of your life?"

With that, he prepared to push through the crowd and leave the Apartment.

"I'll give it, I'll give it, okay?" The Property Manager clutched his chest, his lips already starting to turn pale.
