Chapter 18 - The Billionaire War

The world had changed.

After Lin Wei rewrote karma to include intent, balance rippled across the globe like a silent revolution. People woke up lighter. Guilt faded where love had always existed, and cruelty now bore sharper consequences.

But not everyone welcomed the shift.

Especially not those who had built empires on imbalance.

The Council of the Rich

In a floating city above Dubai, far from law and karma regulation, twelve of the wealthiest humans alive gathered at a round obsidian table. They weren't just tycoons. They were titans—old money, new power, shadow brokers.

And at the center of them all sat Xu Han, the trillionaire known as the "God Broker."

His words were slow, cold, deliberate.

"Karma has shifted. Our predictive models are broken. Wealth is… leaking."

A woman with cybernetic eyes spoke. "Intent-based karma taxes generosity and rewards empathy. Our lobby systems can't bypass it."

A Russian tech mogul barked, "My AI collapsed overnight. The karma net caught every unethical line of code."

Xu Han tapped a single key on his obsidian pad.

A projection emerged.

Lin Wei's face.

"He is the source. The root. The lawmaker."

Another man said softly, "Then we must break the law."

Wei's Vision Grows

Meanwhile, Wei and his team stood atop the new Karma Nexus—a tower in Tibet built using the Infinite Card's capabilities. A temple of light and data, open to all.

Zhang Xinyi entered with urgency.

"Someone's attacking karma data hubs."

Li Mei frowned. "Impossible. No one can touch those now."

Xinyi tossed a holopad onto the table.

Images flickered:

Paris: Karma cloud offline.

Seoul: Karma audits rewritten.

São Paulo: Karma inflow rerouted into private banks.

Jude's eyes widened. "They're using karma loopholes. They found a way to bend intent."

Noor, silent till now, murmured, "Only one kind of mind could do this."

Wei said the name before she did:

"Xu Han."

The War of Billionaires Begins

It was not a war of tanks or missiles.

It was wealth vs. worth.

Xu Han launched a weaponized system called Intent Synth, capable of manufacturing false intent—fooling the karma engine into thinking selfish acts were noble.

At the same time, thousands of ultra-wealthy elites began using the system to hoard power and twist morality:

Corporations donated billions while secretly poisoning rivers.

Philanthropic CEOs weaponized orphanages as tax sanctuaries.

Karma points were sold on the black market, dressed up as spiritual services.

Wei watched in horror.

"We changed the rules," he muttered. "But the greedy just wrote new ones."

Rise of the Karma Knights

Zhang Xinyi stepped forward.

"If intent can be faked, then we need witnesses who see the truth."

From the depths of the Nexus, she summoned twelve warriors—chosen souls with the rare gift of Karmic Perception.

They became the Karma Knights, defenders of balance.

Knight of Judgment: Could see the true motive behind any action.

Knight of Mercy: Could absorb guilt from others to cleanse intent.

Knight of Mirrors: Reflected hidden desires.

Knight of Flame: Punished false intent with karma fire.

Knight of Thread: Could untangle karmic connections across lifetimes.

And others, just as powerful.

Wei handed each a shard of his Infinite Card.

"You are the sword and scale. Go."

Xu Han's Counterattack

In the sky fortress "Vault Sky," Xu Han activated his final protocol.

He wasn't content to bend the karma system.

He wanted to replace it.

Using a massive black crystal engine built from corrupted karma points, he unleashed the False God Protocol.

Its power?

It granted artificial enlightenment.

It erased karma from chosen individuals.

It allowed users to "purchase" virtue directly.

Xu Han's voice echoed across all networks.

"Karma is tyranny. I offer liberty. Join me—and write your own destiny."

Millions listened.

Hundreds of thousands obeyed.

And the balance began to break.

The Decision

Wei stood before a global broadcast camera.

The world watched.

He spoke simply:

"We rewrote karma not to control you, but to free you.Free you from lies. From guilt you don't deserve. But also from greed you've hidden. This isn't about punishment. It's about becoming real."

He held up the Infinite Card.

"I won't force you. But I will protect those who choose truth."

The First Clash

That night, in the skies above Shanghai, the first clash took place.

Wei and three Karma Knights flew toward Vault Sky.

Xu Han awaited them in a throne of stars, wielding a false Infinite Card of his own.

Their battle tore the night in two.

Light vs. illusion.

Worth vs. wealth.

Truth vs. narrative.

Wei shouted through the chaos:

"You think wealth makes you a god."

Xu Han grinned. "No. I make wealth divine."

They clashed again.

The karma engines howled.

The balance teetered.

And the world held its breath.
