Chapter 223 - Tracking the Black Dragon

Lin gazed at Xiao Feng's battered appearance, already suspecting that he must have endured a brutal and harrowing battle the previous night. Otherwise, given Xiao Feng's formidable strength, he would not have been left in such a state. Unable to hold back, Lin asked, "Xiao Feng, what exactly happened last night?"

Xiao Feng slipped down from the pure white back of Bai Bai. After a night of relentless jolting, his bones felt as if they were about to shatter. With a cold expression, he recounted the events of the previous evening to Lin.

Upon hearing the tale, Lin clenched his fist and smashed the tea table before him. "Damn those vile fiends of the Evil Dragon Sect! They actually killed Ivy!" Ivy's beautiful face vividly flashed before Lin's mind—such a stunning woman was like an angel to him. Hearing the news of her death ignited an intense fury within him.

After several deep breaths, Lin asked, "Xiao Feng, where are you now?"

"This place... should be the renowned Alps. I'm on the outskirts of this mountain range..."

Without even putting on a shirt—just clad in his underwear—Lin dashed out of the room and sat down at Lei Yan's computer. His fingers flew across the glowing keyboard. Soon, a database interface appeared before him. Lin swiftly switched software and began hacking into the database's password.

Though Lin was no expert hacker, living alongside Lei Yan for so long had given him enough exposure to know how to infiltrate such a system.

In mere seconds, Lin had gained access to the database and immediately searched for the name "Black Dragon." Countless videos, images, and information flooded the screen.

After a thorough search, Lin confirmed one crucial fact: the Evil Dragon Sect's headquarters was indeed located within the Alps.

Lin spoke into the communicator, "Xiao Feng, there's a troubling discovery. I just found that the Evil Dragon Sect's base is in the Alps, but there's no information on which peak exactly."

"Understood. Since this is the Sect's headquarters, I'll prepare accordingly."

"Be extremely careful. The Evil Dragon Sect's base is a perilous place. Just one Black Dragon is hard enough to deal with. Beneath it are many powerful dukes—like Duke Luke, who's only one among them. It's far too dangerous for you to go alone."

"I'm not alone. Bai Bai is with me..."

Xiao Feng then switched the video to Bai Bai, whose proud, raised head appeared on Lin's screen. Lin looked at Bai Bai in surprise. "Why does Bai Bai look so different now?"

Xiao Feng gave a wry smile. "This guy got lucky—he absorbed the magic crystal of a B-level beast tamed by the Black Dragon. Unexpectedly, Bai Bai could withstand the energy of the B-level crystal. Now, he's effectively a B-level beast himself."

"Hmm. But if Bai Bai is already a B-level beast, why have you been unable to catch up with the Black Dragon after chasing all night?"

"That Black Dragon is the leader of the Evil Dragon Sect and possesses formidable taming skills. He must have tamed other beasts to aid his escape; otherwise, he'd be dead by now if he fled on foot."

"Right, that's the Evil Dragon Sect's specialty."

"I won't say more. I'm entering the mountains to find their headquarters. This time, I will raze the Evil Dragon Sect's base to the ground. Damn it, for daring to torment me, Xiao Feng, without end. I'll wipe out all their threats in one fell swoop and make them realize the terrible fate of crossing me." Saying this, Xiao Feng ended the transmission and told Bai Bai, "Let's enter the mountains..."

Far away, Lin sat before the computer, watching Xiao Feng's image abruptly vanish. He frowned deeply, muttering, "Damn, Xiao Feng, your guts are enormous. Even with your skills, that's the Evil Dragon Sect's headquarters. It's no place to visit lightly..."

Once again mounted on Bai Bai's back, Xiao Feng felt at ease within these mountains—after all, the wolf tribe lived here. Bai Bai showed no resistance to the rugged terrain, instead feeling a sense of familiarity. Forgetting the exhaustion of the night's flight, Bai Bai swiftly carried Xiao Feng deeper into the mountain range.

As they ventured further in, the scent of the Black Dragon grew faint, clearly masked deliberately.

Eventually, at a stream, Bai Bai and Xiao Feng halted—here, the Black Dragon's trail vanished completely.

The sunlight was gentle; the stream babbled crystal-clear. Although the Alps were nearing summer, the air remained cool. Xiao Feng washed his body in the stream, letting the cold water calm him. He knew he must not rush or panic. His first task was to find the Evil Dragon Sect's headquarters.

Rinsing himself with the icy water, Xiao Feng's wounds from the night before were no longer visible. Under the sunlight, the contours of his muscles were distinct and masculine. Yet suddenly, he thought of Ivy, and his heart ached sharply. Two hot tears slipped silently down his face.

Meanwhile, Bai Bai cleaned its fur, stained with Xiao Feng's blood. It took great effort to restore its coat to pristine white. When it emerged from the water and stood in the warm sunlight, it quietly crouched beside the sorrowful Xiao Feng.

Only after Xiao Feng's tears ceased did Bai Bai emit a soft whimper. Then, its stomach growled loudly.

Wiping his eyes, Xiao Feng said, "Hungry, huh? Last night was exhausting for you. Alright, let's hunt. Once we're fed, we'll keep searching. Looks like we'll be here for a while."

Bai Bai nodded. Xiao Feng hoisted the Black Angel and leapt onto Bai Bai's back. "Let's go hunting."

Bai Bai howled once, then plunged into the forest carrying Xiao Feng.

Half an hour later, they returned to the stream's edge. Bai Bai struggled, dragging a hefty black bear to the water. Xiao Feng touched his body. Since his black alloy combat blade broke, he hadn't carried a weapon for some time. Facing this bear, he felt at a loss—without a blade, how could he skin it?
