Chapter 202 - Catching Rook 2

The moment Xiaofeng fired his weapon, a hailstorm of bullets erupted from countless cultists of the Evil Dragon Sect, their gunfire blending into a chaotic symphony of lead. Regrettably, it was broad daylight; had this battle unfolded under the cloak of night, the scene would have been a haunting spectacle of deadly artistry.

In an instant, Xiaofeng felled a dozen or more cultists, their bodies grotesquely mangled by the devastating power of the Black Angel bullets. A single shot to the abdomen would obliterate internal organs, splattering gore across the battlefield in a grisly display.

Though the cultists retaliated with fierce and relentless fire, Xiaofeng was shielded by a peculiar ally named K, a man evolved by magnetic energy. Stretching his arms wide, K bellowed and conjured a formidable magnetic barrier around them, a luminous sphere that magnetically absorbed every bullet aimed their way.

Not only were the cultists' bullets halted, but even Xiaofeng's own Black Angel rounds failed to pierce this magnetic dome. With a curse, Xiaofeng muttered, "Damn it, even my gun's gone mute."

Duke Luke, witnessing the scene, was momentarily stunned. Though he had heard whispers of K's abilities, witnessing them firsthand struck him with profound shock.

"Blast him to pieces!" Duke Luke commanded, pointing toward the magnetic shield.

Several burly cultists emerged, brandishing grenade launchers and rocket launchers, aiming their heavy weapons at Xiaofeng.

Xiaofeng's brow furrowed. He cast the Black Angel onto the ground and with a sudden gesture unleashed a powerful burst of psychic energy.

The dozens of bullets magnetically trapped then violently detached from the barrier, hurtling back toward the approaching brutes.

Before their fingers could squeeze triggers, the cultists were riddled, their bodies transformed into mangled, bullet-pocked husks.

One robust man clutching a rocket launcher fell backward, his finger reflexively pulling the trigger. With a thunderous explosion, the rocket slammed into Duke Luke's command vehicle, reducing it to a shattered ruin.

Xiaofeng's unleashed psychic evolution astonished K; such a level of mental prowess was previously thought attainable only by Rush. The sudden emergence of another eighth-level psychic was almost too much to accept. Without Xiaofeng's timely psychic burst, the rocket blast would have obliterated them all.

"Xiaofeng, how did you come to wield Rush's eighth-level psychic ability?" K asked, bewildered.

"Ha, that's a tale for another time. For now, our mission is clear—exterminate these bastards. Shut down your powers..." Xiaofeng replied.

K and Lin, who had confidently considered themselves fourth-level psychics just moments before, found themselves utterly outmatched by this caliber of combat. The two rogues lit their cigarettes, wearing bitter smiles.

As K deactivated his powers, the cultists remained oblivious to the catastrophe about to unfold. Duke Luke suddenly leapt before his followers, howling to the heavens as his body underwent a rapid transformation.

From his back sprouted a massive pair of black wings, each spanning ten meters. With wings unfurled, Xiaofeng maintained control of his bullets, unleashing them upon the cultists.

The barrage struck Duke Luke's wings and back with a metallic clatter and sparks, yet he withstood the onslaught unscathed.

Turning to face Xiaofeng, Duke Luke's formidable presence stunned everyone—Xiaofeng, K, Lin, and Kerry alike—none had anticipated such resilience.

Months earlier, during their brutal clash with the Evil Dragon Sect, Xiaofeng had nearly collapsed under the strain of his psychic exertion, yet even then, dozens of elite guards failed to wound Duke Luke, who escaped unscathed. It was clear that the Duke was a monstrously powerful entity.

Xiaofeng locked eyes with the turning Duke Luke, who smirked and taunted, "Sorry to frighten you all with this form."

"You bastard, not only have you evolved with psychic powers, but you wield some other formidable force," K spat venomously.

Duke Luke laughed heartily, "Indeed. The Evil Dragon Sect thrives because of such wondrous powers. Like these wings—impervious to blade or bullet. Astonishing, isn't it?"

Xiaofeng coldly retrieved the Black Angel from the ground. "Impervious, huh? Let's see if these bullets can shatter your skull."

Duke Luke narrowed his eyes, well aware of Xiaofeng's precise tactics—if Xiaofeng fired, it would be straight for the eyes. "Die, you worthless scum!" he cursed, flapping his wings fiercely as he soared into the sky with incredible speed.

Xiaofeng reacted swiftly, locking his weapon onto Duke Luke's movements, firing relentlessly.

The Duke darted through the sky like a shadowy tempest, evading Xiaofeng's shots with a speed that defied capture. The bullets merely scratched his form, incapable of inflicting harm.

Xiaofeng stood rooted, stunned by Duke Luke's overwhelming strength.

Meanwhile, K calmly declared, "If we cannot kill this Luke now, let us first deal with these wretched cultists. They are a menace that must be eliminated." With that, he charged into the fray.

Kerry and Lin, heeding K's command, discarded their cigarettes and joined the assault.

Xiaofeng remained standing, eyes fixed on the circling Duke Luke, his brow furrowed in deep contemplation of how to vanquish this fiend.

Suddenly, Duke Luke plummeted from the sky like a streak of black lightning.
