Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Secretly Learning—That’s Not a Good Thing!

"Thud!" With a loud sound, Xiao Chenyu was struck head-on before his feet could even land.

"Ahhh!" he screamed in pain. His body bent forward sharply as he stumbled back, finally landing on the ground with a heavy thump.

Legs clamped together, hunched over, hands covering his crotch, his face turned pale and he didn't dare move an inch.

"…" Yu Xiaogang was speechless.

"…" The surrounding onlookers fell into silence. Many instinctively clamped their legs together, visibly shivering.

"Nice one, Zhu!" Wang Sheng was about to cheer loudly, but after sensing the awkward atmosphere, he swallowed the words back down.

"You… You… You're despicable!" Xiao Chenyu roared through clenched teeth as the pain slightly subsided, glaring at Zhu Zhu with a trembling voice.

"I didn't want to, either. But I didn't have much choice, did I?" Zhu Zhu scratched his head helplessly. "You're taller and stronger than me—if we wrestled, I wouldn't stand a chance. I only learned this one move, and now it's used up. This was the only way to keep you from fighting back."

"Besides, you never said I couldn't kick you there."

Heh… just now, that move? Learned it from how Tang San handled Xiao Wu.

Of course, to avoid any accidents, he had a sudden inspiration and added a little something extra to it.

Gotta admit, the Longevity Technique is a solid cultivation method. The longer he practiced, the better his memory and clarity of thought became.

That must be the effect of enhancing his spiritual awareness—or perhaps his mental power.

On the other side, upon hearing Zhu Zhu say he'd only learned one move, Xiao Chenyu grit his teeth and forced himself up, still in pain. Maybe it was because he was the city lord's son and Zhu Zhu didn't want to offend him too much, so the kick hadn't used full force. The pain in his lower half faded relatively quickly.

"I haven't lost yet. Again!" He stumbled slightly, then launched another charge.

But this time, wary of the lingering pain and wary of the same dirty trick, he didn't dare kick again.

As he approached Zhu Zhu, his eyes flashed, and he threw a punch.

You can't even stand properly, what are you being so stubborn for? Zhu Zhu quickly dodged. As he did, he stepped down on Xiao Chenyu's back ankle and struck with both palms at his abdomen.

"Thud!" Xiao Chenyu was knocked back again and fell to the ground.

"Didn't you say you only knew one move?!" Xiao Chenyu was losing it, teeth clenched in frustration.

"Oh… but when I saw your punch, I suddenly remembered another move," Zhu Zhu answered with a perfectly calm expression.

"Where the hell did you learn all this?!" Grumbling, still rubbing his stomach, Xiao Chenyu couldn't help asking.

Though arrogant, he wasn't stupid. After getting beaten twice, he started to realize something was off.

This kid… definitely not ordinary.

"My two dormmates," Zhu Zhu said honestly. "They had a fight earlier today over who gets to be the dorm boss."

"I watched the whole thing. Thought they were really skilled, so I went back and tried to recall and figure some of it out myself."

"They're both born with full innate soul power—seriously strong."

Would it be okay to spread this around? Maybe if the Spirit Hall heard, they'd come investigate and discover Tang Hao and his son, which might lead to their hunt…

Then again, what he learned was just surface-level stuff—not some top-secret Xuan Tian Treasure Record technique. Hopefully Tang San wouldn't come after him for "seeking death." Even Xiao Bai could let out farts without absorbing a soul ring yet—definitely enough to raise suspicion. Unless necessary, he didn't want to reveal too much.

"So that's where you picked it up—from Xiao San, right on the spot," Yu Xiaogang suddenly understood and felt a surge of pride, straightening his back.

It's not that Zhu Zhu's amazing—it's that his disciple, Tang San, is amazing!

"Full innate soul power?!" Xiao Chenyu was stunned, then slowly got up in silence.

"I admit defeat!" Gone was the earlier arrogance—he declared it clearly and firmly. "I'll honor my promise."

"By the way, can I ask… what's your innate soul power level?"

"Level 6. Nowhere near as good as my two dormmates," Zhu Zhu said with a touch of disappointment.

What is with Dorm 7 this year? How are these work-study students getting stronger by the minute? Xiao Chenyu was stunned, starting to question life itself.

Just then, Wang Sheng ran over, full of regret. "Zhu, you're the smart one!"

"Sigh, why didn't I think of copying a few moves earlier when Tang San and Sister Xiao Wu fought?"

"Well, you could still ask them later," Zhu Zhu replied. "Bring some tasty food when you do—Sister Xiao Wu loves snacks."

"Heheh." Wang Sheng nodded enthusiastically, grinning wide.

"I'll bring you that soul beast encyclopedia tomorrow," Xiao Chenyu interjected at the right time.

"It's getting late—I won't bother you guys anymore." He cupped his hands politely.

Smart kid, this one. Zhu Zhu nodded and returned the gesture. "Thanks, I appreciate it."

"No worries. You're strong—I lost fair and square." Xiao Chenyu smiled and waved to his lackeys, turning to leave.

"Yes! We don't have to clean and still get paid!" the Dorm 7 students crowded around, celebrating.

"Let's go! My treat tonight—time to celebrate!" Wang Sheng said excitedly.

"Long live Brother Wang!" the others cheered as they surrounded Zhu Zhu and Wang Sheng, heading to the dining hall together.

"Clever kid," said the headmaster, who had come from the administration office after hearing what happened. He sighed slightly as he stood beside Yu Xiaogang. "If only his spirit wasn't a silkworm…"

He had already learned a bit about Zhu Zhu's situation through Yu Xiaogang.

Spiritual-type spirits were limited in growth due to the difficulty of acquiring suitable soul rings.

Still… innate soul power of level 6—he'll probably surpass me one day, the headmaster thought silently.

He hadn't kept Yu Xiaogang around freeloading at the academy all these years just out of friendship. It was also because of Yu Xiaogang's powerful background.

The name "Yu Xiaogang" carried weight. If he had truly been disowned, the family wouldn't have let him keep the "Yu" surname.

No explicit ban on the name meant his father probably still cared.

"Hm." Yu Xiaogang merely nodded slightly.

The headmaster snapped out of his thoughts and smiled, changing the subject. "Let's not talk about that anymore."

"Xiaogang, congratulations. You've taken on a promising disciple. If this Zhu kid could defeat Xiao Chenyu with just a move or two borrowed from your student, that speaks volumes about Tang San's skill. Looks like your long-standing wish is about to be fulfilled through that boy."

Yu Xiaogang finally cracked a smile, though his tone stayed calm. "Maybe."

With that, he clasped one hand behind his back and walked off toward the cafeteria.

The headmaster chuckled, said no more, and followed after him.

About half an hour later, Zhu Zhu and the others returned to Dorm 7 after dinner. Looking around as they opened the door, they found Tang San and Xiao Wu still absent.

But not long after, the two of them came back.

Wang Sheng eagerly ran forward, offering them some packaged meat.

"Sister Xiao Wu! Tang San! Here—this is for you!"

"Wang, did you find money on the ground or something?" Xiao Wu asked, surprised.

"Hehe, pretty much!" Wang Sheng grinned and started dramatically retelling the earlier events.

As Tang San listened, his brows gradually furrowed.

Secretly learning someone else's techniques… that's not a good thing.
