Chapter 18 - The Dream Realm(1)

"It couldn't throw anything that crazy at me... Right?"

I regret issuing that challenge to the nightmare spell.

This new world fucking sucks.

The moment I entered the dream realm, this godforsaken spell launched me at terminal velocity straight at the floor.

The impact created a crater around me, a shower of the earthy material that composed the floor, showering my surroundings.

I had used aura to protect myself from the impact at the last second, but it was still high and fast enough to shock my nervous system.

With my face buried in the ground, I let out a noise halfway between a pained groan and an irritated scream.

I got up and took a look around.

It was still morning, the sun shining overhead, indicating that it was around noon.

I saw a huge mountain range right in front of me, the titanic geological landmark likely being the hollow mountains.

Staring around, there was next to nothing that was particularly memorable, the only thing of note being the sound of rushing water and, of course, the gargantuan mountain range.

Where the hell would I even go?

I had to find some kind of gateway in order to escape, but I was utterly alone.

I hadn't dropped near any other sleepers, and from what I've read, the hollow mountains were dubbed a death zone, a place that was unfit for mortals.

I'd like to leave the dream realm with my body intact, preferably without a fallen or corrupted abomination gnawing on my corpse, but I guess I didn't have much of a choice.

I had just spent a month memorizing the geography of the Dream Realm, only to be thrown into the mysterious mountain range associated with dying painfully.

Truly peak comedy, I had no clue the Spell had such a sense of humor!

For all I knew, this place was probably infested with Corrupted and Great Abominations; nothing would surprise me at this point.

I was exploring the unexplored, treading unknown waters, in search of a way back to the waking world, and for all I knew, there was a fugly monster hiding in a corner waiting to feast on my supple flesh.

I forgot to mention, I was rocking my birthday suit, my Excalibur drawn from the stone, the cold breeze brushing against my skin.

Ah yes, buttass naked in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, what a combination!

If I survive this place, I'm never setting foot in another nightmare again (A/N: we all know he will), the nightmare spell can suck my pickle brined toe beans.

Ok, first order of business, I need some clothes.

If I do happen to encounter a fellow human being in my current state, I think I'd kill myself out of sheer embarrassment.

For the first time in a long while, I summoned my runes.

Huh

I completely forgot I got a memory for killing that forest tentacle dude.

Summoning the memory, I read the runes in its description

******

Memory: [Bones of the Forest]

Memory Rank: Awakened

Memory Type: Garment

Memory Description: [A silken robe woven from the remains of the corrupted forest.]

*******

Neat, I wouldn't have to walk around with my "sword" unsheathed now.

Particles of light manifested around me, silk the color of rusted brown, wrapping me in its soft embrace.

The robe extended down to my knees, some kind of pants covering up my lower half completely.

[Bones of the Forest] was essentially a pair of silken pajamas, the comfortable threads of silk being light and breathable.

Alright, I'm still unarmed and in one of the deadliest places in the dream realm, but at least I have a nice pair of PJs on me!

I summoned the [Skeletal Chain], using it as a belt to tie my robe together.

The bones of the chain dug into my waist as I tightened it.

Now that that's over with, I should start exploring.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I've been hiking through Hollow Mountains for a while, trekking the vast mountain range in search of a way out.

I was thankfully somewhere near the outer edge of the mountain range; if I had been dropped dead center, I probably would've been evaporated by a great titan or a corrupted tyrant the moment I landed.

The strongest abomination I've seen so far was "merely" a fallen beast, a large pitch black wolf with six eyes and fur covered in a metallic sheen.

Other than that, I had seen a few awakened terrors and tyrants, basically a bunch of abominations I couldn't kill unarmed.

All I could do is try and get out of the hollow mountains alive, and I'll figure the rest out afterward.

I've been here for about a week, surviving exclusively off of starlight, my platinum light maintaining my body, but I probably couldn't last for more than a couple of days with the light left in my star.

I needed to find food soon, lest I starve to death in my first venture into the dream realm.

(A/N: Sorry that this is so late guys!

I've been busy clutching up on the last bit of classes I have, so I haven't had as much time to write.

I've also just been rereading some of the early shadow slave chapters to refresh my memory of the earlier arcs, especially the Forgotten Shore.

For right now I'm gonna probably post another shorter chapter later tonight, and I'll try and post at least once tomorrow!

Thanks for reading and I hope you like the chapter!)
