The scent of sautéed vegetables and garlic filled the sleek, sterile kitchen—an aroma so out of place in the Ravenstrong mansion that it made Adam pause in the hallway. He never heard the staff arrive this early. He wasn't even sure they were scheduled today.
He stepped into the kitchen, expecting to find his personal chef.
Instead, he found her.
Sofia stood barefoot by the stove, hair pulled up in a loose twist, wearing one of her soft cotton dresses and his apron tied carelessly around her waist. She looked like she belonged in another world entirely—some sunlit cottage, not his cold, high-rise prison.
She turned when she sensed him, a smile already blooming on her lips. "Good morning," she said gently. "I thought I'd surprise you."
Adam blinked, momentarily disarmed. "Where's the Chef?"
"I sent him home," she said simply, flipping a golden omelet onto a plate. "From now on, I'll be making your breakfast."
