" Why isn't anyone picking up the telephone?" " But.. who's even calling on the landline??" Liora muttered under her breath.
The era is of Mobile phones... it's the year 2020. It's the age of technology
Liora went downstairs, out of her room to check the continuously ringing phone.
She picked up the phone and said, " Hello?"
" Hello." The voice of the person on the other side was deep and manly.
Liora asked, " Who do you want to talk to?"
The stranger replied, " I wanna talk to Mr. Asher. Could you pass him the phone?". His voice was like a middle-aged man.
" It's a wrong call, bye". She didn't wait for him to speak. She hung up the landline phone.
She turned around to look away from the landline telephone. The telephone was placed on a vintage table near the living room. It was outside the room. She then moved towards the living room.
" Why didn't anyone pick up the telephone??" Liora asked.
" We thought it was the service call, only they would call on the landline ". Her mom replied.
" Anyways, who was it?" Her aunt asked.
" It was an unknown number. Asking for someone called Asher. I hung up". She replied.
"Okay" her mom replied.
It was now 5:58 pm. It was the time when Riley and Ulmea's dad would come home. Soon, they both came home. Ulmea's mom and aunt were in the kitchen. They were getting the food ready for dinner.
All the kids were not in the mood to eat home-made food. They wanted to dine out. Alex went to Riley, who was sitting in the living room watching T.V.
"Bro Riley...? " Alex asked.
"Yes, Alex?"
" Bro, can we go out to eat today?" He asked.
"Don't you like the food at home?" Riley asked.
"... I do, but I just don't want to today "
" Ok by me. Ask your mom and dad." Riley replied.
" Okkk, I'll be back in an instant. Oh also bro, it won't be just me. There'll be sister Liora, Flossy and Ulmea." Alex replied.
He then went to ask his mom and dad. They agreed. If Ulmea's dad agreed then only Liora's opinion was required, whether she wanted to go or not. Her parents wouldn't disagree.
" Then, come back early." Ulmea's dad told them.
"Yes dad!!" Alex replied.
Alex then went to Riley and told him that everyone had agreed. He then went to the three of them and told them to come downstairs so they could leave the house. The three of them had gotten ready even before they got the permission. The three of them then came downstairs. They went towards the car after bidding goodbye to everyone.
Riley sat on the driver's seat. While Alex sat on the passenger's seat. While the other three sat in the back. The were now going to a restaurant.
In the car, Riley asked them, " Have you guys decided a restaurant?".
Flossy spoke, " Not yet.."
Ulmea asked, " What do you guys want to eat? Western, Italian or mexican..?"
Liora and Alex replied, " We don't know. You decide."
Riley replied, " Then, how about I choose? There's a new restaurant nearby."
They all nodded in agreement.
" Let's go then." Riley said.
After 10 minutes, they arrived at the restaurant.
Alex read aloud the restaurant's name, "Flavor fusion."
Everyone looked towards it's name. The restaurant looked luxury from it's exterior. They then went walked inside. The cool air inside the restaurant made them shiver.
Ulmea said, " Awhhhh, it's cold in here."
"Yup." Riley replied.
Then, a waiter took them to an empty table. The restaurant was full of people. They could hear the plates clanking, people chatting and music playing lightly. They then sat down. A waiter appeared giving them the menu.
Riley said, " You guys decide the food."
They all decided the food. They then gestured at the waiter to take their order. They all ordered what they liked. Soon, the food arrived. They all ate to their full. Riley then asked the waiter to bring over the bill. The waiter brought the bill, Riley paid it and then they got out of the restaurant.
Alex asked, " Guys, how about some ice-cream?"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
They then went to the ice-cream shop right beside the restaurant. It was one of the best ice-cream shops in the city. They ordered the ice creams.
They were still waiting for their order, Riley got a call from Ulmea's dad. He asked them to come back soon. Riley told him that they'll be back soon. Soon, the ice-cream arrived. They were licking their ice-creams and chatting.
They still felt like having more fun. They went to an indoor park to play games. They can't go to an outdoor park cause they know they're so full. They played and played. It was now 11:30 pm. That's so late. But the mood of having more and more fun was still on.
Later, they went to a park for walking and chatting. They were so engrossed in chatting and laughing that they didn't realise the time. It was now 1:00 am. Oops! it was so much time. Only Riley realised the time. He asked them to get into the car and started driving. They were on their way to their house. They had received multiple calls from Ulmea's dad before 12:30 am. Now, they didn't receive a single call from home. They spent so much time outside.
Riley slowly parked the car inside the house. They all went tip- toeing inside the house. The lights were off. They thought that everyone must have already drifted to sleep. They were trying to escape towards their rooms. But, saw a shadow in the living room, the lights were off... they got scared.
"Gosh!" Exclaimed Flossy, with fear.
Liora then turned on the lights. It was... Ulmea's dad sitting in the living room. They all were surprised and moved towards him. They knew that they were going to get scolded. But to their surprise, he was sleeping. They then turned off the lights and escaped the living room. They all went inside their rooms.
Ulmea came back to her room, feeling a bit scared and relieved.
She thought to herself, " Thank God! He was asleep. Otherwise, we don't know what might've happened."
Soon, she fell asleep. Everyone went to sleep...
