Gu Ning immediately became alert when he heard Xiao Lan's cry.
He knew that Xiao Lan had sensed a threat.
Suddenly, two white flying swords emerged from the sea, shooting toward Windsor.
Windsor quickly cast a Light Shield on herself, but the shield only managed to block the first flying sword. The second sword was already on its way.
At that moment, Gu Ning and Huohuo simultaneously cast their shields in front of Windsor.
After both shields shattered, the flying sword lost its force. Windsor quickly cast another Light Shield on herself.
Gu Ning looked toward the direction from which the flying swords had come.
Two silver-white sea monsters, each five meters long, floated on the sea surface. One of them leapt out of the water, and Gu Ning noticed its body was flat in shape.
Seeing that their ambush had failed to kill Windsor, both sea monsters let out furious cries.
Gu Ning was a bit surprised—he didn't even know fish could make sounds!
However, with the monsters' cries, the flying swordfish attacking Gu Ning's boat became even more aggressive and frenzied.
Gu Ning checked the information on the two sea monsters.
Flying Swordfish (Blue)Level: 12Strength: 66Agility: 64Defense: 64Skills: Flying Sword, Leap
Gu Ning was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected that blue-quality sea monsters would only have two skills—and one of them, "Leap," was obviously a useless skill.
It felt undeserving of their rank.
But this was good news for him. If those two monsters had more skills, they would have been much more difficult to deal with, and someone might have been seriously injured—or worse.
Even so, only Windsor and Huohuo were capable of dealing with them now.
In fact, even Huohuo could only delay one of them.
"Huohuo, stall one with me. Windsor, take out the other one quickly." Gu Ning had no better option—this was the best plan for now.
After all, Darkmoon was only level 3, and her strength was limited. Her skills focused on close combat, which was not very useful in the current situation.
Huohuo immediately cast a Fire Bind to hold off one sea monster, and Gu Ning followed with an Ice Spell.
Windsor understood the urgency and went all-out against the other flying swordfish.
She began by casting an Entangling Spell to limit its movement, but the enemy dodged with a Leap.
However, while the monster was still in midair, Windsor cast a Confusion spell, causing its flying sword attack to miss.
After the creature fell back into the water, Windsor cast Entangle again. This time, the monster was still under the Confusion effect and couldn't dodge in time. It was bound in place.
Seizing the moment, Windsor fired a Light Arrow at it and then followed up with another Confusion spell to slow it further.
The Light Arrow struck the enemy, leaving a bloody hole. Though it was wounded, it wasn't fatally injured.
Driven by pain, the monster launched another flying sword, shattering Windsor's shield once again.
Windsor remained calm and quickly cast another Light Shield on herself. At the same time, she fired another Light Arrow, aiming for the creature's head. But due to its struggles, she couldn't land a fatal blow.
Still, the blood loss was increasing. If this continued, she might be able to wear it down.
Seeing this, Windsor grew anxious. She was very worried about Gu Ning—given his current strength, dealing with the other flying swordfish would be extremely difficult.
And she was right. Despite Gu Ning and Huohuo working together, they couldn't do any real damage to the sea monster. They were barely holding it back.
Once the monster broke free from their control, it quickly charged toward the boat.
It launched another flying sword at Huohuo, clearly viewing her as more of a threat than Gu Ning.
Fortunately, Huohuo was small and could fly—she narrowly dodged the attack.
But this wasn't a viable strategy for long.
If the monster reached the boat, it would undoubtedly cause serious damage.
Xiao Lan rushed forward to block it with his massive body, but the swordfish ignored him and leapt right over using its Leap skill.
As it hit the water, Gu Ning and Huohuo immediately cast more control spells. They stopped using attack spells because none of them could break the monster's defense.
But their control spells didn't hold for long. The monster soon broke free and charged at the boat again.
Gu Ning glanced at the boat and saw that some civilians had already been injured. If this dragged on, there would be casualties.
He clenched his teeth. This couldn't go on. He had to find a way to end it quickly.
An idea struck him. Gu Ning quickly opened his inventory and pulled out an item.
Toxic Element Bomb (Special Item):Effect: Causes poison corrosion to biological targets. Effectiveness depends on the target's poison resistance.
He hoped it would work—maybe even kill the monster outright.
Gu Ning held the Toxic Element Bomb tightly, waiting for the flying swordfish to get closer before throwing it.
He stared at the sea monster, not daring to lose focus.
"Sir, let it come closer. I can handle it."Darkmoon appeared at Gu Ning's side, her cold voice whispering in his ear.
Gu Ning turned to look at her, unsure of how she planned to deal with the swordfish.
But her loyalty was at 100—she would never harm him. Since she was so confident, she must have a plan.
"Are you sure?" Gu Ning still asked, just to be safe.
"Please rest assured, I'm confident," Darkmoon replied. Then she activated Shadow Stealth and merged into Gu Ning's moonlit shadow.
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Gu Ning didn't hesitate anymore. He put away the Toxic Element Bomb.
Still, he and Huohuo kept casting control spells to delay the monster. If they stopped altogether, the enemy might get suspicious and stay away.
Soon, the monster approached the boat. With a whip of its tail, it stirred the sea into waves and then leapt straight at Gu Ning.
Apparently, after observing for a while, the monster had identified Gu Ning as an important target.
It opened its huge mouth full of sharp teeth, its bloodshot eyes filled with rage.
Just as it was about to bite Gu Ning—
A burst of black light appeared in its vision.
Then it felt a sharp pain—And everything went dark.
Gu Ning stood frozen in shock as Darkmoon landed silently on the deck.
He had just seen her emerge from his shadow, the dagger in her hand turning pitch-black and extending into a meter-long black blade of energy.
