Hyeri came back, he looked at Haneul's face, he was shaking and looking out from the window, "please don't rain.... please don't rain..." He was repeating in his mind.
"Are you ok Haneul?"
"Yes I am, let's dig in." He said while trembling.
As he hold the spoon in his hand, he put it back right away and stood up,
"I am sorry, but I have to," he said.
"Where are you going? It's going to rain soon, Is everything alright?" She asked.
"I don't know, but I have to go, I will tell you everything later, don't go out, wait for me here, I will come back as soon as possible."
Hyeri was left in shock and disappointment.
Haneul went running to the nearest store and bought an umbrella, as he walked out from the store, it started raining.
He went running towards the playground.
On the other hand, Jisoo was walking on the street, the water started falling, she started looking here and there, every thing was blurring out, " Get yourself together Jisoo.... get yourself together... You are almost there, don't give up yet," she encouraged herself.
To avoid, the tip..tip.. sound she put her hand on her ears forcefully.
She could see the cars moving beside her on the main road.
The car horns and the rain drops mixing together were triggering her even more.
Meanwhile her parents were concerned about her, since she was not home.
"It's raining honey, Jisoo is still not home," Jisoo's mother said to her husband.
" Don't worry, she might be with Haneul, let me call her first, only then your heart will be at ease." He answered.
As he called her, she was not picking up, so he called Haneul but he accidentally left his phone in the bakery, seeing back to back calls, Hyeri thought it was important so she picked up the call.
"Hello, Sorry but I am Haneul's friend, he accidentally left his phone with me and left somewhere, when he will come I will inform him that you called. She said.
"Oh! So you might be friends with Jisoo too, do you know where she is now? She is not not picking up my phone calls. Jisoo's father asked.
Hyeri could finally picture every thing , she looked that it was raining and remembered that Haneul was looking out from the window again and again and Jisoo has ombrophobia( fear of rain). So thought that he might have gone after her.
" Actually they both went togather somewhere leaving there phones with me," she lied to not concern him.
" Ok, so they are togather!
Thank you for informing me, tell her that I called when she comes back ," he replied.
He cut the call told everything to his wife.
"But why my heart is telling that she is not ok? she replied.
"Don't worry honey, she is with Haneul, it's the first time that she is not home when it's raining, that might be the reason why your heart is acking for her."
Her mother was not concerned for nothing, Jisoo's condition worsened, she could see the whole picture in front her eyes , like she was experiencing everything again.
She was hallucinating, that she was standing in the middle of the road, it was raining, cars were moving faster around her and boom... then came, Hyeri's parents she could perfectly see them in a car looking back again and again like they were being chazed, they were moving faster towards her.
Then, something unexpected happened, a boy with a red umbrella was approaching towards her, as she saw him running towards her, all those cars around her started disappearing .
He immediately put the umbrella on her head,
She looked up to see his face, and started crying even harder.
"What took you so long?" She asked.
"Sorry for being late,but look! I am here now,"
As he said it, she hugged him.
"Please take me out of here Taeha," she said.
Meanwhile, Haneul was looking for her insanely, that he injured his hand too, he was completely soaked and worried.
After finding him everywhere, his legs suddenly stucked at a moment, he could see Jisoo hugging Taeha, from far away.
He got relieved but also felt uneasy at same time, his legs were trembling, while the rain was mixing up his tears.
His vision blurred, not from the rain, but from the flood of memories pouring in.
Years ago, at the arcade...
"Come on, Taeha! You lost again!"
Jisoo was laughing, tugging Taeha's wrist, dragging him toward another game.
Haneul stood behind, the drink he brought for her slowly warming in his grasp.
She hadn't even noticed he was late. Or maybe... she hadn't cared.
That was the first time he wondered if she ever looked at him the way she looked at Taeha.
The sound of Jisoo's voice snapped him out of it.
She was with Taeha — not him.
It was always him.
Haneul clenched his fists.
"I was always the extra in her story, wasn't I?
He saw both Taeha and Jisoo leaving in a car in front his eyes.
Half an hour already passed away, Hyeri was still waiting in the backery patiently.
Then she saw Haneul, out from the window, he was completely soaked, holding that wrapped umbrella in his hand.
She rushed out with an umbrella, that she already brought with her.
She put the umbrella on his head.
" Sorry Hyeri, I was... I was...,"
"Don't say anything Haneul, I understand." She said and hugged him.
When the rain stopped Taeha took Jisoo to a mall.
"Why are we here?" She asked.
" So are you going back home in these soacked clothes?" Taeha replied.
"How did you know I was there?
And, your company...
They grant you a leave?"
"You ask too much questions.
I will tell you everything later, for now go and change with something comfortable before you catch a cold."
"But don't tell anything about what happened today to my parents." She insisted.
Taeha took Jisoo to her house.
"Welcome back Taeha!" Jisoo's mother greeted as soon as she saw him.
"Mom, I see you are not surprised at all?" Jisoo asked.
" Haneul already told me that Taeha is dropping you home.
We were so worried for you, both you and Haneul were not picking up the calls, and then your friend-
What was her name....Oh Hyeri, she picked up Haneul's call and told us that you went with Haneul somewhere leaving your phones with her.
I was feeling uneasy until Haneul called me back and told me that you guys went to pick Taeha up from the airport." She replied.
"But why do you left your phones behind? And you were not out when it was raining right?"
"Yes mom, as soon as it started raining, Haneul took me to a place where even the sound of rain won't reach me, everything happened so suddenly that we forgot to keep our phones with us." She said.
"You even bought new clothes! they are pretty.
Come,let's have dinner now," Her mother said.
Although she lied to her mother but she was left with a lot of questions,
"How Haneul knew that I was with Taeha,
He even rushed somewhere, that he forgot to keep his phone with him.
Did he actually went to find me in the rain?"
