Minutes had passed, and there was still no sign of Isabella. Ava began to feel uneasy. Why was her sister taking so long? A sense of foreboding crept into her mind, but she pushed it aside, reminding herself that Isabella had seemed genuine. This was her sister—what harm could there possibly be?
Just as Ava was about to call out for Isabella, movement in the shadows caught her eye. But it wasn't her sister who emerged from the darkness. Instead, she saw the shapes of several figures approaching her from different directions. As they came closer, Ava's heart raced in fear. These weren't members of her tribe. They were stray beastmen, their eyes gleaming with malice in the dim light.
Panic gripped Ava as she understood she had been trapped. Her heart raced, and terror clawed at her chest as her instincts screamed for escape, but her legs felt heavy and unresponsive. The drugged drink had sapped her strength, making her movements sluggish and her limbs almost immobile. She struggled to call for help, but her voice emerged as a feeble whisper, swallowed by the distance from the tribe's gathering. Desperation set in as she realized the trap had fully closed around her, leaving no avenue for escape.
The stray beastmen surrounded her, their sinister intentions clear in their predatory stances. As they closed in, Ava's heart pounded in her chest. Desperately, she searched the clearing for any sign of Isabella, but was shocked to see Isabella in Ethan's arms far behind the stray beast men surrounding her
That's when Ava understood the full weight of the betrayal. Isabella had set her up, delivering her right into the hands of these monsters. The sweet, trusting smile her sister had worn now seemed like a cruel mockery in her mind.
The wine was drugged and it was now affecting her. Her body grew weaker with every passing second, but her mind raced with anger and confusion. "Why?" she thought. "Why would Isabella do this?, even Ethan, we just met once for god's sake"
"Isabella, Ethan, what is the meaning of this?" Ava demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and disbelief. Although she asked the question, deep down, she already knew the painful truth, but she clung to a sliver of hope that this was all just a terrible misunderstanding. The betrayal she faced seemed too cruel to be real, and the shock of the revelation made her heart pound with desperation. As she looked at the smug expressions on Isabella's and Ethan's faces, she struggled to reconcile this horrifying reality with the life she had known. She wanted to believe it was a mistake, some cruel twist of fate, rather than accept the harsh truth unfolding before her.
"This means exactly what you think it means" replied Isabella with a smug look on her face.
Isabella's eyes sparkled with a mix of triumph and coyness as she prepared to reveal her secret. With a sly smile, she said, "I told you I had a secret to share, and here it is." She reached out and cupped Ethan's face in her hands, drawing him closer. Their lips met in a deep, passionate kiss, a display of intimacy that was both bold and defiant. Isabella's gaze frequently shifted towards Ava, savoring the shock and disbelief on her face. The kiss was not just a revelation but a statement of her triumph over Ava's expectations and hopes.
Ava was bewildered, when did these two have a thing for each other, didn't the Red fox clan just arrived today.
Isabella's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as she observed Ava's horrified reaction. With a smug smirk, she slowly pulled away from Ethan's embrace, ensuring Ava's distress was clear. "The secret," she began with a mocking tone, "is that I've taken a liking to your betrothed, and we've already mated with each other." She lifted her leather blouse, revealing Ethan's mating mark on her belly. The mark was a clear symbol of their union, and Isabella took evident pleasure in the anguish on Ava's face. Each movement was deliberate, designed to maximize Ava's discomfort and emphasize the betrayal. Isabella's satisfaction grew as she watched Ava's eyes widen with realization, relishing every moment of her former sister's misery.
Ava staggered backwards, as she spoke, "so you betrayed your own blood over a male. if you wanted him you should have said so, I wouldn't have fought you over a male"
Though Ava wasn't sure she would have done so, since she herself fell in love at first sight when she saw Ethan for the first time.
Ava was instantly captivated the first time she laid eyes on Ethan. His long, golden-red hair cascaded down his back, shimmering like molten metal in the sunlight. The striking hue of his hair was complemented by his eyes, which burned with a fiery intensity. They were a brilliant shade of flame red, rimmed with a deep, black outline that accentuated their hypnotic glow. His gaze was both commanding and alluring, drawing Ava in with an almost magnetic pull.
Ethan's physique was equally mesmerizing. His broad shoulders and muscular build spoke of strength and power, tapering down into a narrow, V-shaped waist that highlighted his formidable presence. His posture and the way he carried himself exuded confidence and grace, making him the epitome of physical allure.
Ava couldn't deny the immediate impact Ethan had on her, even though she struggled with her emotions. She wasn't the only one—every female in the tribe seemed to be enchanted by his appearance. The Fox people were renowned for their exceptional beauty, and Ethan was no exception. His striking features and commanding presence made it nearly impossible to look away.
It was as though the Fox people possessed a natural charm that set them apart, and Ethan was a prime example of this allure. For Ava, the sight of him was a moment of pure enchantment, a sudden and overwhelming infatuation that she couldn't easily shake. Despite her internal conflict on mating a stranger, she was acutely aware of the effect Ethan's presence had on her, revealing just how profoundly his attractiveness had struck her from the very beginning, that is until his true face showed as a cowardly double crosser.
Isabella sneered as she spoke; "Do you think your father the lion Beast would agree to that? Of course not.. the truth is that for a very long time now, I've been envious of you, your father is the Lion chief beast of our tribe, in the future you will end up inheriting the position, you even get to have the a three striped handsome fox beast as your mate, you always get all the attention and all the good things while I hide in your shadow, the only way I can even compete in getting attention from people is by acting weak and fragile, it annoys me"
Ava was stunned by realization, struggling to comprehend how deep Isabella's deceit ran. For years, they had been inseparable, sharing childhood games and growing up side by side without a hint of discord between them. Ava had never sensed even the slightest trace of hostility from Isabella, making the betrayal all the more shocking. The revelation left her questioning whether Isabella had been skillfully masking her true feelings all along or if Ava had simply been too naïve and dumb to perceive the signs of animosity. The contrast between Isabella's façade of friendship and the harsh reality was almost too much for Ava to process.
Ava was jolted back to reality when she felt a blow to her waist and she found herself falling to her knees.
Isabella laughed and continued " so that's about it, as long as you are alive, me and Ethan won't be able to be together. You"ll help me with this won't you, dear sister" Isabella asked mockingly
"Well, it's not like she actually has a choice", Ethan replied, He added coldly "Am sorry Ava, you've never done anything to me, it's just that Isabella is my choice and doing this is the only way for me to obtain the desired results"
without remorse or doubts Ethan looked at a half beast who seemed to be like the leader of the stray beastmen, he had a half horse appearance with a man's torso like a centaur and said to him "She's all yours, do whatever you want with her, have fun with her as you please but make sure she dies in the end, I can't afford to have her returning back. In the next three days we will deliver the females to you as agreed" Ethan and Isabella left and returned back to the tribe.
The stray beasts were enclosing in on Ava, Ava in a desperate attempt to escape the encirclement, she decided to climb up a tree from which she leaped from tree to tree, as she swung herself beneath the tree canopies, she slipped and fell to the ground, she was too weak to keep on jumping from tree to tree, her vision was getting blurred she could hear the voices of the stray beast men slowly getting closer, looking forward she only saw a cliff ahead, with the pain of betrayal in her heart and no hope of escape, she mustered up her last remaining strength and ran straight ahead, suddenly she was falling, yes at least now the stray beast won't have their way with her.
"Isabella, Ethan, may your lives forever be miserable, may you both turn on each other and die even more miserable than i have"
