Chapter 2 - North's Last-ditch Effort

Lura was sent flying through the air after Shyzen pushed her back. CRSH! She crashed into a boulder, but quickly got back up. Nyleah, who was fueled by anger, had been generating mana through her bow with much more intensity than ever before. She scrunched her nose and furrowed her eyebrows, "Power Shot!" Shyzen was walking over to Lura, not paying attention to her. Nyleah let go of her grip on the arrow, and it went flying, so fast it seemingly teleported. DMMM! Suddenly, Shyzen was hurling along the ground hundreds of meters down the clearing, rolling and smacking into rubble and rocks. He slammed his hand onto the ground, stopping his momentum, and stood up. He grunted, "C-crap… Who the hell was that!?" He was smiling. The armor on his left shoulder had been completely obliterated, and blood was pouring down the metal of his arm. His eyes focused on Nyleah, who had begun to draw her bow back once more, "How interesting! Where did this power come from, I wonder?" Nyleah gritted her teeth even tighter, and released the arrow. VMM! Shyzen tilted towards Nyleah, and dashed forwards. The arrow zipped through the air and slammed into Shyzen's injured shoulder. The force behind it pushed the God Of Gods back, but he planted his right foot behind him and regained his balance. Pushing off his feet and rushing towards the bow-woman again. Nyleah quickly dropped her bow and pulled out a dagger from her side. Shyzen closed the gap between them, and she swung upwards. At that instant, flames shot up from the ground between them. Shyzen stopped in his tracks, confused. Nyleah looked to her left. Vencer had appeared beside her, holding his right hand out, casting a spell, "Get back Leah! You must keep your distance at all times." Nyleah jumped backwards. But Shyzen pushed forwards. Vencer dashed towards the God Of Gods, sending his left fist hurling towards his face. Shyzen ducked, and Vencer missed. VVSHH! Suddenly, a giant pillar of flames enveloped them before Shyzen could counterattack. He jumped out of the flames, his armor slightly burnt. At that moment, another soldier appeared behind Shyzen, swinging downwards. Shyzen twisted his body around, dodging the soldier's attack and turning to face him at the same time, "Zephyr!" He placed his hand on the soldier's chest. Suddenly, his body became completely covered in open wounds, and blood sprayed out of his body. He tensed up, and fell to the ground, unconscious. "Incineration Arrow!" Nyleah's voice rang out from far away. Shyzen turned his attention to his right, but in that same moment an arrow pierced his right shoulder. The black metal armor protecting him was completely blown off, and his body jerked back from the impact. Fire sprayed out from his shoulder, and blood began to pour down his arm. "Fireball!" Vencer shouted from behind Shyzen. But this time, Shyzen gritted his teeth and released his aura. DMMM! The ground around him cracked from the pressure. The atmosphere grew thin, and reality itself began to distort, turning everything into a hue of dark purple. Massive amounts of wind picked up around the battlefield, forcing everyone who was still standing to ground themselves.

Shyzen smiled, "Do you pitiful soldiers still think you can defeat me!?" "Yes… I think we can…." A calm voice rang out. The winds began to slow down, as a man took a step forward, "...I'm finally here, master." From beyond the battlefield, Solomon smiled. Paarl had made his entrance, and was now facing off against Shyzen.

"Do you really think you can defeat me? The Healing Sword God Of The East against the God Of Gods… I'd say it's a pretty obvious answer." Paarl's eyes remained fixated on Shyzen, "Oh, but I'm not alone… flick!" He snapped his fingers and the atmosphere around them went back to normal. Suddenly, a group of six soldiers, all wearing white robes, dashed towards Shyzen. TNGG! All six of them swung downwards at Shyzen, but he deflected every one of them in an instant. As if in slow motion, Shyzen swung sideways, cutting open one of the soldiers' stomachs. The remaining five retaliated and attacked once more. But Shyzen dashed away. One of the soldiers followed him, catching up and swinging sideways towards his ribs. Shyzen stomped his feet into the ground, stopping his momentum, and ducked down, dodging the soldier's sword, who couldn't stop his momentum in time and was caught off-guard. The God Of Gods tossed his sword towards the soldier. THWOCK! The soldier fell backwards, with Shyzen's sword lodged into his sternum.

Two more robed soldiers appeared behind Shyzen and swung downwards. The God Of Gods glanced backwards and flicked his left finger. CRSH! Suddenly, a giant wall of stone slammed into the soldiers, sending them flying upwards nearly fifty meters. Shyzen walked over to his sword and pulled it out of the soldier's lifeless corpse. He looked upwards and raised his arm, pointing the palm of his hand towards one of the falling soldiers, "Incinera-" TWONG! An arrow slammed into Shyzen's stomach, and he was sent flying into a boulder. CRSH! Shyzen quickly pulled himself out of the crater, but before he could fully stand up, Lura appeared in front of him with her sword flying towards his neck. Shyzen's eyes widened from surprise. TONG! He swung his sword up as fast as he could, deflecting her blade. Lura scraped the rock just above Shyzen's head, and dashed backwards, avoiding his counterattack. DWOMM! Suddenly, Shyzen and the boulder he was laying in were crushed by a giant silhouette of a sword, nearly the same size as a large house. Paarl had his sword plunged into the ground, with mana channeling through it. He had used a spell to catch Shyzen off guard, "Hurry Nazeem!" ZZP! Blue lightning shot through the battlefield, and Nazeem appeared, running towards the crushed boulder where Shyzen was. He channeled mana through his body, and sparks began to sizzle around him, "Electrocution!" Lightning exploded through the area. Shyzen jumped upwards, out of the lightning's range. But just as he did, an arrow slammed into his chest, DMM! He was sent flying above the treetops for a few dozen meters, before falling onto the ground. Nazeem and Lura dashed forward, catching up to him. Lura swung downwards, but Shyzen planted his feet into the ground and stopped his momentum which forced Lura to miss. Nazeem planted his foot into the ground and sent a fist hurling toward Shyzen's face. The God Of Gods jerked backwards, dodging the fist, and countering with a swing to his chest. Nazeem was sent flying into the thicket of trees with blood trailing him. Lura swung once more, but Shyzen blocked her sword. T-T-TNGG! The two of them exchanged a few blows, with Lura gritting her teeth and scrunching her nose in anger. Shyzen smiled, "Oh my… you seem mad! Is it because I skewered Kiliano? Don't worry, you'll all be joining the same place soon enough! HAHAHAA!" His tone was sarcastic and sadistic, which only further angered Lura. She roared out in anger and pushed Shyzen back. But that left her right ribcage open. Shyzen glanced at the opening and jabbed his sword into her side so fast she couldn't even react. At that moment, Paarl appeared behind him, with his sword pulled to his waist. He swung towards Shyzen's spine. The God Of Gods pulled his sword out of Lura's side and attempted to block, but it was too late. Paarl slashed Shyzen's back, but his blade couldn't pierce through the immense aura that Shyzen was concentrating around his body. Paarl let out a quick scoff of anger and dashed backwards.

Shyzen turned to face Paarl and smiled, "So… Not even you can pierce my defenses? This battle just isn't any fun without real danger, how sad." "You want real danger!?" Lura's voice rang out from far down the clearing behind him. Her bow was at the ready, and mana was swirling around the tip of her arrow violently. Shyzen's face grew slightly more serious. Lura's eyes fixated on him, and the two of them made eye contact from hundreds of meters apart. Shyzen leaned towards her, preparing to close the gap. But before he could, Paarl plunged his sword into the ground again, "Expelsion!" Suddenly, rods of light began to pierce Shyzen, but he felt no pain. They covered his arms, legs, and abdomen. He turned to Paarl and tried to dash towards him, but couldn't, "What the-... What did you do, Paarl!?" Paarl smiled, "You're stuck, Lord Of The Accursed. Do it now, Leah!" VMMM, DWOMM! Nyleah released her grip on the arrow, and it disappeared. No noise was made after the release, but it disappeared. Suddenly, Shyzen's armor exploded, pieces of black metal flying into every direction. Paarl flinched, closing his eyes while keeping his sword stuck into the ground.

As the explosion faded, Paarl lifted his head back up, and opened his eyes. Shyzen was bent over, standing with weak knees. The armor that had covered his body was destroyed from the waist up. His chest was dripping blood, and a small hole was made from where the arrow pierced him. Nyleah was breathing heavily with weary eyes. Her knees grew wobbly, and she fell to the ground from mana exertion. Shyzen's breathing was shaky, as he tried to regain oxygen. He stumbled on his breath, and began to cough, "Cough… cough.. Hah… hahahaa… Hahahah! H-how amazing. That girl… she managed to break the armor, and pierce through my battle aura. You'll die proud, knowing you wounded me, young lady." "Nobody's dying today, Shyzen." Paarl stood up straight, staring at him. Shyzen turned around and smirked, "What? Just because my armor is destroyed, means you can wound me? Don't be silly… that armor was there just in case I got lazy and turned off my battle aura…" Shyzen took a step towards Paarl, "...You've still got no chance to kill me. Comparing you to me is like comparing a wild dog to a Black Dragon. You may be considered dangerous by mere children, but a Black Dragon is feared by every living thing on this continent." Paarl scoffed, "You'll see!" He dashed forward swinging his sword towards Shyzen. But as his sword got close to his skin, Shyzen's aura grew more intense. The dark purple haze that covered Shyzen's body began to push Paarl back, until the force was too much to handle, and the Healing Sword God Of The East stumbled backwards. Shyzen was maintaining a cocky smile while staring at him, "You see? It's no use trying to fight me." The wind picked up, and Shyzen raised his hand. A drop of sweat rolled down Paarl's cheek, and he thought to himself, "Crap… this isn't good. I knew from the start he was stronger than me, but his defenses are beyond anything I could've imagined." He took a few steps back, but Shyzen's smile widened as he took a step forward. This caused Paarl to hesitate from fear as he gripped his sword even tighter.

Suddenly, a giant beam of white light gathered right above Shyzen. The two of them glanced upwards, and in an instant, CRSHH! A giant sword made of pure mana plunged itself towards Shyzen. Paarl dashed backwards, away from the blast radius. But Shyzen quickly walked out of the dust cloud with a look of annoyance. Paarl heard footsteps walking behind him, and immediately knew that it was Lura. "Are you sure you're ready for this? Shyzen's attacks won't let up until you're dead." Lura scoffed, "Oh please, I've been waiting to slice this guy into pieces for years now…!" She smiled, "...Let's get this show on the road." "There will be no show…" Shyzen's deep and intimidating voice rang out from right behind the two of them, "...It makes me happy that you two are so riled up to play… but I'm growing bored of this. The only one of you capable of playing with me is that girl with the bow… But she's out of commission." Paarl and Lura quickly jerked their bodies behind them, but Shyzen's piercing eyes peered down at them, catching both of them off-guard. His aura surrounded them, and his mere presence made their knees weak, "See? You can't even handle standing too close to me… There's no point in fighting… a bunch of ants." He took a step forward and raised his arm to the sky. From much farther down the battlefield, Solomon had been watching. But once Shyzen raised his arm, Solomon's eyes widened from fear, "Don't you dare!" The Angel pointed both of his arms towards Shyzen, and began a chant, "With this divine blessing I bestow upon thee the power of an angel! Bring forth thine offering and bless my presence with your angelic grace… Heaven's Purity!" A golden flash blinded everyone. The entirety of Hydenfort was instantly enveloped in Solomon's spell. But in the instant before everything was blinded, Shyzen's eyes glanced over at Solomon.

Everything turned white. The sounds of uproar filled the air, as soldiers scrambled away in fear. Every single living thing in the kingdom of Hydenfort was blinded by a golden light that turned everything white. But after a few moments, the light began to fade, and people's vision started to come back. The first person to regain their vision was Nazeem, who had just barely made it out of the forest thicket before he was blinded. He squinted his eyes and looked around the battlefield. Soldiers had their hands covering their eyes, people were groaning on the ground, and Lura and Paarl were standing there, dazed and alone. Shyzen was no longer next to them. Nazeem grew slightly more panicked, and began scanning the area for him. "He's gone…!" Nazeem yelled out, "...Shyzen's disappeared, Lura, Paarl!" The two of them still had their eyes closed. Nazeem looked around, and his eyes finally met with Shyzen. He had confronted Solomon, and had half of his left arm plunged straight into the Angel's stomach. Solomon was slouched down, leaning on Shyzen's blood-soaked arm. Nazeem's eyes widened, and he cried out, "No! Solomon's down!" By now, the white light had almost completely vanished. Lura and Paarl regained their vision, and noticed the scene. All three of them quickly dashed towards Shyzen, but it was too late. He grabbed Solomon's shoulder, and ripped out his bloodied arm, "Nice try brother… but this is where it all ends." Nazeem sent a left straight towards Shyzen's face, but he shifted his head backwards, dodging the attack effortlessly. Lura appeared behind him with her sword raised above her head, and she swung downwards. But before it could connect, Shyzen disappeared. The two of them began looking around, as Paarl caught Solomon and began aiding his wounds. Solomon was completely unconscious. "Crap… this isn't good…" Paarl said, "...Master Solomon was the one who sealed away Shyzen's cursed chants. If Solomon's unconscious, then Shyzen will be able to use his cursed chants once more! You two need to stop him right now… or else this war is as good as lost." Nazeem and Lura nodded, then the two of them ran off to look for Shyzen.

But after a few moments, Shyzen reappeared atop a cliff, looking down on the entire battlefield. He was smiling with a malicious look. His aura was emanating a purple haze that began to envelop the entire sky. In just a few seconds, the entire sky turned a dark purple, which caught the attention of Lura and Nazeem. The two of them noticed Shyzen atop the cliff, and dashed towards him, "Hurry, we can't let him speak a word!" Nazeem said in a hurry. The two of them made it to the foot of the cliff, and Nazeem jumped up. He leapt to the top of the cliff in an instant, generated mana throughout his body, and sent an electric shock hurling towards Shyzen. The God Of Gods quickly knelt down and placed his hand onto the ground. A giant wall of stone shot up from the ground, and the electricity smashed into it. Pieces of rock were flung in all directions. But in that instant Lura appeared behind Shyzen. She swung her sword sideways, VSHH! Shyzen didn't bother blocking. His aura stopped Lura's blade just short of his body. He turned around to face her, and grabbed her neck, "Nice try little girl!" "Let go of her!" Nazeem charged him from behind, and sent a fist straight into his back. Shyzen winced slightly, dropping Lura. She caught herself and dashed away. Nazeem sent another fist into the right side of Shyzen's face, with his back still facing him. Shyzen stumbled backwards a few steps, but quickly regained his balance and turned to face Nazeem with a look of disgust, "That punch kind of hurt… You're annoying though, so I won't spare your life." Nazeem gritted his teeth even harder, "I don't need your mercy!" The two of them clashed. Sparks of lightning shot throughout the cliffside. But in just a moment, Nazeem was sent flying off the cliffside, falling back down to the main battlefield. Lura dashed forward, channeling all her mana into the tip of her sword's blade, and lunged at Shyzen. He glanced over at her, and took a quick step backwards, dodging her blade, "Y'know, it isn't safe to channel all your mana into your weapon. It leaves you vulnerable to counterattacks." Suddenly, he kicked Lura's exposed stomach, sending her flying off the cliffside too, and falling back down towards the emptied battlefield.

"Charrrrge men!" Soldiers cried out from behind Shyzen. A couple dozen northern soldiers ran out from the forest and charged Shyzen. But the God Of Gods smirked. He dashed forwards, and his arms became a blur. In an instant, he cut down almost a dozen soldiers before anyone could react. One soldier swung at his feet, but Shyzen jumped upwards, twisted his torso midair and sliced the soldier's head clean off. He landed back onto the ground and dashed forwards, cutting through each soldier instantly, until making it past all of them. In the blink of an eye, every single northern soldier that had attacked him was on the ground, either bleeding out or already dead. Shyzen sheathed his sword, and walked back over to the edge of the cliff. He cleared his throat, and channeled mana towards his throat and mouth, "Ahem… Attention soldiers of the north…" Shyzen's voice echoed out throughout the entire region, "...I've defeated your champions, and have proven to you all that the South is superior. Rejoice at this fact… as we have now won the war, and the bloodshed can now end…!" Soldiers from both the north and south walked out onto the clearing below Shyzen, looking up at him, "... Fear not… the south will treat you with honor and dignity, as you will all soon be tried for treason! THE SOUTH HAS WON… and we will have justice for the pointless loss of life that the north has brought upon our country… Please… allow me to start with the process…" Suddenly, the atmosphere grew thicker. The purple haze that surrounded the sky quickly began to gather around Shyzen. Nazeem groaned from the ground, "E-everyone… you need to leave, now. Shyzen… is going to use his cursed chants… d-don't get caught in its power!" "Too late, boy! It is time for the North's judgement…! FALL!" Suddenly, a massive pressure began to push everyone to the ground. Every single living thing in the area fell to the ground. Soldiers fell to their knees, birds fell from the sky, and trees died on the spot. Every single piece of noise in the world seemed to have disappeared. Everything but Shyzen's voice.

His smile grew even wider, "Now that I've got all of you here… it's time to end this silly little battle…" A sense of dread filled the hearts of every soldier there. An overwhelmingly intimidating aura instilled fear into all of them. So much so, that the soldiers laying on the ground, powerless, began to cry. "Goodbye… North…" Shyzen paused for a second, and suspense began to build up in the air. Until finally, he spoke once more, "DIE." His voice echoed throughout the region. Soldiers closed their eyes in fear, with tears running down their faces. Nazeem laid his head onto the ground in defeat, Lura gritted her teeth in anger. But as Shyzen's voice rang through the air, the only other piece of noise that anyone could hear, were footsteps. "NO…" A young voice rang out from the clearing. Shyzen's eyes widened, as the young man continued to walk through the battlefield. He walked past the hundreds of soldiers laying on the ground, past Nazeem, whose eyes were widened, and past Lura, who was still struggling to stand up. The young man stopped just short of the cliff. On the right side of his hip was a sword, plaid in pitch black metal. On his back, was another sword, with a golden handle and red gem instilled in its handleguard. The young man standing there was Kiliano, ready for his rematch.
