Chapter 15 - Chapter 30-31-32

Chapter 30 – Gustavo Puts Things in Place

Gustavo was lying in bed in his hotel in New York, staring at the ceiling and trying to process what his life had become in the last few weeks.

In one month, he had won an Oscar, become a meme at Carnival, been honored by the president of Brazil, gone viral alongside the most beautiful women in the world, and now, they were saying he was dating Kendall Jenner.

"I just wanted to watch an Adele concert…" he mumbled, running his hand over his face.

But there was something that bothered him much more than the rumors about his love life.

He had received worrying messages about what was happening on Brazilian social media.

And this couldn't go on.

He took out his cell phone, opened Instagram, and started recording a story.

"Hey, guys! I'm here to clear up a few things because I woke up and my life has turned into another episode of a reality show!

He laughed, trying to keep his tone light, but still direct.

— First, about the videos of Adele's concert… Kendall and I are just friends, guys! We met by surprise at the concert, enjoyed it together, sang, danced… That's it. No mystery, no conspiracy theories. You can relax.

He smiled.

— By the way, Adele, if you're watching this, I love you. It was one of the best concerts of my life.

He winked at the camera before changing the subject.

But now, his tone became more serious.

— Now, about something much more important… I heard that people are going to Mikey Madison's social media to insult her because Fernanda didn't win the Oscar for Best Actress.

He took a deep breath, clearly bothered.

— Guys, for the love of God, stop this.

He paused, looking seriously at the camera.

— I know everyone wanted Nanda to win. I wanted it too. She deserved that award so much. But that doesn't mean Mikey didn't.

— Mikey is an incredible actress. Anyone who watched "Anora" knows that her performance was incredible.

He leaned forward a little, to emphasize what was coming next.

— And besides being a great actress, Mikey is one of the nicest and most caring people I've met this awards season. She's never disrespected anyone, never belittled anyone's work, and you're going to her social media to insult her? That makes no sense at all.

He paused again and shook his head.

— We can be sad that Nanda didn't win, but it's not by attacking another actress that we change anything. Let's be better than this, okay?

He took a deep breath, adjusted his phone and concluded.

— Now I'm going to have a coffee because I didn't wake up ready for this. But seriously, guys... Let's spread love and not hate, okay?

And then he posted.

Twitter exploded.

— Gustavo doesn't shy away from controversy. He says what needs to be said!

— He's right. We can love Nanda without attacking Mikey.

— Gustavo is always teaching lessons on the internet. This guy is different.

A short time later, Mikey Madison saw the stories and commented on Gustavo's Instagram:

— You are an incredible human being. Thank you for this.

And with that, Gustavo showed that he was not just another Hollywood star.

He knew how to use his voice when necessary.

Chapter 31 – A New Opportunity

The morning in New York was cold and quiet, but Gustavo's phone wouldn't stop vibrating.

He was on the couch in his hotel, drinking coffee and scrolling through social media, still absorbing the repercussion of his story about Kendall Jenner and Mikey Madison.

But then, his agent's name appeared on the screen.

"What now?" he murmured, picking up the phone.

He answered.

"Tell me it's not another crazy thing involving my personal life, please."

On the other end of the line, his agent laughed.

"This time, it's work. And a great opportunity."

Gustavo immediately became more attentive.

"I'm listening."

The agent paused briefly, as if he was holding back the big news.

"Fernando Meirelles is about to direct a film about Getúlio Vargas… and he wants you to audition to play Getúlio himself."

Silence filled the room. Gustavo stood still for a few seconds.

— Wait… Fernando Meirelles? The director of "City of God"?

— Exactly.

— And he wants me to do the casting to play Getúlio Vargas?

— Yes. He saw your performance in "I'm Still Here" and thinks you might have something special for the role.

Gustavo took a deep breath. That was huge. Fernando Meirelles was one of the most respected Brazilian directors in the world. His new film, about one of the most controversial and iconic presidents in Brazilian history, would certainly be a huge project.

And for Gustavo, it was the chance to prove that he was more than just a young talent on the rise. It was the chance to truly challenge himself. —

When is the audition? — he asked, determined.

The agent smiled. — Next week, in Brazil. Do you accept?

Gustavo smiled, already knowing the answer before he even said it.

"Of course I accept."

He was ready for a new challenge.

Chapter 32 – The Test for Getúlio

Gustavo felt his heart beating fast, but it wasn't nervousness.

It was adrenaline.

He was in São Paulo, inside a large room with neutral walls, where the magic of cinema was born: the audition room.

The atmosphere was silent, but the tension was palpable.

Fernando Meirelles, one of the greatest directors in Brazil and the world, was sitting at the back of the room, watching intently.

Beside him, the film's screenwriters and producers were taking notes, ready to evaluate every detail of the performance.

Gustavo knew that this was one of the greatest opportunities of his career.

Playing Getúlio Vargas, one of the most complex and controversial figures in Brazilian history, required more than talent.

It required presence, depth, control.

He took a deep breath. He was ready.

The casting assistant, holding a script, looked at Gustavo and made a sign.

"Shall we begin?"

Gustavo nodded firmly.

The text in his hands was not just any scene.

It was the part where Getúlio, already pressured by his political enemies, realized that his time in power was coming to an end.

It was an intense moment, full of layers.

Gustavo closed his eyes for a second before starting.

And then, he disappeared.

The Transformation

When he opened his eyes, Gustavo was no longer Gustavo.

He was Getúlio.

He adjusted himself in his chair, his posture changed.

His shoulders, previously relaxed, became tense, carrying the weight of power and fear.

His eyes gained a dark glow, as if he were really there, in the last days of his government, feeling the crushing pressure of politics.

And then, he spoke.

His voice was different.

Deep.

Slow, thoughtful, calculated.

"Politics... oh, politics... is a game that no one wins without getting dirty."

The room fell into absolute silence.

The assistant, who was supposed to say the next line, swallowed hard before continuing.

"President, they want you to resign. If you don't leave now, it might be too late."

Gustavo let out a soft laugh through his nose.

It was a bitter laugh.

He paused dramatically, letting the weight of the words sink into the room.

Then he slowly leaned forward.

"Too late for who? For me? Or for them?"

Fernando Meirelles' eyes sparkled.

Gustavo continued with the scene, getting even deeper into the character.

He wasn't just acting.

He was living.

When the scene ended, Gustavo stood still for a moment.

The room was still silent.

He felt his heart pounding in his chest, waiting for some reaction.

It was then that Fernando Meirelles smiled.

"Wow..." said one of the scriptwriters, still open-mouthed.

Another producer let out a low whistle.

Fernando looked at Gustavo, crossed his arms and nodded slowly.

"You didn't just understand Getúlio. You carried him in your eyes."

Gustavo, still catching his breath, finally relaxed.

Fernando stood up and walked over to him.

"Tell me something, Gustavo... Do you realize what you just did?"

Gustavo smiled, still feeling the energy of the scene.

"Well... I hope it was good enough for the role."

Fernando let out a low laugh.

"I'd say it was more than that."

The producers and screenwriters nodded in agreement.

Gustavo knew he had done well.

But now, he wanted to hear the words that really mattered.

Fernando put his hand on his shoulder and said:

"Welcome to the movie, Getúlio."

And at that moment, Gustavo knew.

He had just achieved a new milestone in his career.
