AT THE SAME TIME
ADRIAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
At first, I thought it was just nerves. Xavier sat still, but his shoulders were too tense, his hands fidgeting with the edge of his sleeve like they might rip it off. His breathing was shallow, fast. Unnatural. Terrence happily showed Michael his toy, chattering in that sweet, innocent way only a four year old could. Xavier wasn't hearing any of it. I stepped closer.
"Xavier?"I asked.
He didn't answer. His lips parted, but only a faint sound came out, a broken breath, a whimper. My heart stopped.
"SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL PRESENT: Xavier's wolf is initiating a full transformation. Stand back! Shift in progress.'"System said.
"What?" Selene's voice sliced through the tension.
Charlie stood sharply.
"No, no, no, it's too soon!"Charlie shouted.
I rushed to Xavier's side, but the moment I reached him, his eyes rolled back, and his body convulsed.
"Xavier!"I shouted.
Terrence looked up, confused.
