Chapter 34 - Trial of Blood (5)

I wasn't surprised to hear this at all.

Rather, this was what I had been waiting for this entire time.

I was even a bit surprised that it had taken this long for Demon King Balcor to actually interfere with the trial like this.

After all, the way that I was taking his trial was clearly against how he had planned for this trial to go.

This was a trial where blood was supposed to run, but I was doing it the pacifist route.

That was why it would be strange for him to accept this.

After all, Demon King Balcor was a demon king that had been famous for one thing and one thing only.

He was famous for his reign of blood.

He was a demon king that became stronger with more people slaughtered, which was why he encouraged fighting between the demons. In fact, he even demanded demons to fight in coliseums established in the demon race's territory.

Even for demons, they couldn't take this large death toll to their numbers and they overthrew him before it could have lasting damage on the demon race.

Or that was what the lore of the game was.

What the truth of the matter was…well, no one could really guess and no one thought about it since it was something that was from a game about a minor character.

Right now, the most important thing was finishing this one last part of the trial.

After his outburst, the passage that had opened suddenly closed before a bloody figure appeared.

I didn't panic when I saw this and calmly asked, "Is there a problem? I passed the trial fair and square."

"Who do you think you're fooling? You're clearly using tricks to pass these trials and you're saying that you passed these trials fair and square?" The bloody figure said in a voice that seemed to be filled with rage.

But still, I didn't panic as I looked right at him with a calm look before saying, "Then what would you call it? As long as I pass, does it matter how I pass it?"

"Ha, ha, ha, you're right about that." Then his tone changed as the bloody figure said, "But we're demons in the first place, so there's nothing really fair about this. If I don't like how you pass the trials, then naturally I have the right to disqualify you. After all, this is my trial in the first place."

The blood that surrounded this bloody figure started to clear at this point and there was a fierce smile that was on his face.

Others might have been surprised by this reveal, but I certainly wasn't.

After all, I knew what the real reason for Demon King Balcor creating this dungeon was.

"Why are you acting like this? There's no need to act like this when we both know the truth. This trial is nothing more than a trap for you to draw in a new body to possess."

There was only silence that followed after I pointed this out.

It was a long time before the silence was broken by a wild laugh.

"Ha, ha, ha, how did you figure it out?"

"Would a demon king like you actually want to give your legacy to someone random? It's clear that someone as greedy as you would do all that you can to revive yourself."

"Ha, ha, ha, very good." Then in a colder voice, Demon King Balcor asked, "Do you really think that you can do anything? This is my territory, the place where I've been preparing this plan for many years now. This is not a place where you can come and go as you please."

Right after he said this, there was blood that started dripping out of the walls.

This blood seemed to fill the entire room in a matter of seconds.

At the same time, it seemed that I was completely surrounded by the power of this Demon King Balcor.

Still, I had the same smile on my face as I raised my hand and pointed it at the bloody figure.

There was a white light that came from my hand and spread out all across the room.

The moment that this made contact with the blood around me, it was as if it started being evaporated with the smoke that came from the blood.

"How is this possible?" The bloody figure said in a shocked voice.

But I just had the same smile on my face as I increased the intensity of the white light.

When the white light became stronger, the blood around me started to burn even faster. At the same time, there was the same burning reaction that was coming from the bloody figure.

"What are you? How are you using holy magic?" The bloody figure roared out as he raised his arms, causing a wall of blood to appear in front of him as some kind of shield.

It was just that this wall of blood wasn't able to protect him for that long.

During all of this, I just kept using the holy magic against him with a smile on my face.

This was naturally all because of my shared stats.

If the hero didn't have holy magic, then no one would have holy magic.

And if the hero's holy magic wasn't powerful, then this world would have fallen to the demons a long time ago.

That was why this white light had this kind of effect on the bloody figure.

As for why it didn't do anything to me…

Well, it would be embarrassing if this holy magic were to have an effect on me, the one that cast it.

But the real reason was because of the item that I had prepared that was currently hanging around my neck.

This was a special item that I had prepared for this fight after all.

This was a necklace that provided resistance to holy magic.

As for why none of the other demons cared about this, it was simply because this was a hidden effect of the necklace. None of the other demons knew about this, that was why I was able to get it that easily.

All a part of knowing things from the game.
