Synopsis
In the midst of fame and fleeting connections, Taehyung, a beloved idol with a quiet soul and a deep longing for something real, finds unexpected solace in the presence of Lily—a soft-spoken, resilient woman hired as his temporary assistant. At first, he sees her as another fleeting face in the industry, but her sincerity, work ethic, and quiet strength unsettle his carefully controlled world. As they work together, Taehyung begins to shed the image he’s carried for years and rediscovers simple joy through her grounded presence. However, their connection is tested by looming separation—Taehyung’s military enlistment—and the suffocating pressure of public life. He leaves Lily behind with a quiet promise: "Don’t hesitate. Live fully." But as he trains under harsh conditions, her handwritten letters and heartfelt updates become his anchor. Through these letters, he watches her bloom—gaining independence, earning the respect of his hyungs, and fighting to care for her younger sister, Luna Rosé, whose health slowly recovers. When Lily tearfully—but confidently—confesses her love during a spontaneous video call meant to share her sister’s awakening, Taehyung is left speechless. For the first time in a long time, someone has loved him, not the image of him. In his quiet bunk, with only the hum of the barracks around him, Taehyung reads her words, replays her confession, and feels something click into place. She didn’t wait for a perfect moment. She chose to live—and she chose him. Taehyung’s arc is one of unlearning performative love, embracing quiet truth, and realizing that the greatest act of bravery isn’t on a stage—it’s letting someone see the real you. By the end of his enlistment, he’s no longer just returning to a career—he’s returning to love, to Lily, and to the life they might build together.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Taehyung hadn't planned on screaming at a stranger at 3 a.m.

But there he was — bulky from base training, hair still buzzed short, in sweats and house slippers — standing on the porch of his friend's apartment, eyes half-shut, throat raw, yelling,

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE DARK?!"

Because, honestly, if you came home during your military leave and saw a girl in a hoodie squatting in the shadows behind your building like she was mid-existential crisis and lighting a cigarette like it was a lifeline, you'd scream too.

But what really messed him up wasn't her presence.

It was her reaction.

She snorted. Then doubled over. Full-on cackling like his outburst was the punchline to a really good joke.

"Relax, soldier boy," she said, eyes glinting beneath a mop of curls. "I'm not here to assassinate you. Just trying to survive Tuesday."

He blinked.She offered him a smoke.He refused.She shrugged. "Suit yourself. I'm Lily."

"Lily? More like a spawn from hell called Lilith."

That's how Kim Taehyung met the most annoying, intriguing, infuriating girl he'd ever known.
