Beep!
The automatic door beeped open as Zane slid his card into the reader.
Zane walked into his suite, Selina following reluctantly. He turned and saw her still rooted by the door.
"I understand the reason behind your decision," he finally said, breaking the silence. "But you shouldn't have made it alone, not without knowing my intentions first."
"You don't have to worry, Mr. Zane. The baby isn't yours. You're not the father," Selina denied, refusing to meet his gaze.
His brows narrowed, caught between disbelief and something else he refused to name.
"Are you telling me the truth?" he asked, voice low.
Selina swallowed. "Yes."
He wasn't convinced. As far as he knew, she had no boyfriend or even a close male friend. He was the only man who had touched her, explored every inch of her.
Still, the firmness in her tone pierced through the steely guard around his heart.
He shifted slightly, as though trying to stop himself from reaching for her again.
