Regina's POV
I heaved a deep sigh when Castillo walked into my office. He paused when he took some steps forward. I rolled my eyes at him as I quickly pulled up my skirt.
The guy I was making out with— one of my men cleared his throat as he set his eyes on Castillo. He walked out after picking up his trousers from the floor and putting it on in an hurry.
Castillo's eyes followed him as he left the office and he sighed, looking at me now.
"Such a nice scene." He brushed his low hair cut backwards as he folded his arms, giving me a look that said, 'explain yourself'.
Castillo was my right hand man, besides that he was my friend too. He had been away for a while now, overseeing the affairs at the other clan. But now he was back and...sigh, I was starting to get tired of him. He was a big dick. Always questioning everything I did.
"You should be the one explaining why you're here, Cas and why you had to barge into my office without knocking." I said, giving him a deadpanned expression.
"Well…." He trailed off, dropping his hands by his side. "I don't really know but I think it's high time you stopped fucking with this…" his nose scrunched up in disgust, "this men. I mean, it's annoying."
I rubbed my forehead, letting out a deep sigh. Like seriously, I had had enough, enough of his tantrums. It has only been five days but he hadn't stopped acting like he was my big brother or something.
"Okay, Cas." I nodded, giving him a tight-lipped smile as I placed my hands in his shoulders. He scoffed, staring into my eyes. The glare in his eyes faltered but I couldn't tell what he had in them now. "You should stop monitoring everything I do, I mean, I'm tired." I shrugged, walking away but he grabbed my waist and turned me around, making my hands fall on his broad chest.
For the first time in 12 years, I noticed how handsome he looked— his cherry red lips, sharp jawline like those Kdrama male leads. His glowing golden eyes, perfect.
"I'm only concerned about you, Nana." His voice was soft compared to the way he looked at me earlier like he was going to finger out my brain. "Ever since you broke up with that…. that scoundrel I've never seen you get into a serious relationship." His jaws clenched as he looked away. I knew he hated Alessandro and back then, he had never liked me dating him.
"Do you ever wanna get committed and start something serious?" He asked, turning his gaze on me now. I rolled my eyes at me as I moved away to grab the bottle of red wine that sat on the desk.
He snatched it from me before I could take a sip and now, I was almost losing my cool.
"Cas!" I snapped at him, trying to take it back from him but the rascal was taller than I was. "Don't get me angry, Castillo." I warned him, my voice rough, "I'm not in a good mood this evening." I gritted my teeth as the wound on my arm stung me.
"Hey!" It was too late, Castillo noticed my bleeding arm. I had to wear a long sleeved shirt because of him but now I knew I was going to get an earful.
"You'll never listen, will you?" He dragged me along as he walked towards the sofa and made me sit. He grabbed the first aid box I didn't even know I had in my drawer and took out some cotton wool. "Russo would only get you in trouble, he never brings good things but bad luck and since you've started to roll with him, you have become so reckless!"
I scoffed, wiping the sweat on my forehead as I remembered what happened three days ago when I set out with my men to Alessandro's new warehouse to rob him of his precious gems.
We hadn't prepared well. We only took a drastic step without getting to think twice. There was bloodshed, a lot of my men died ebben without Alessandro intervening.
I had underestimated his security men. They were heavily loaded and so skillful. I would've died if Castillo hadn't showed up.
It was a careless decision Russo and I had made. Robbing Alessandro wouldn't be an easy task.
"Maybe you've forgotten a few things about me, Cas but I've always been reckless."
"Extra reckless." He added, through gritted teeth.
"Ai." I clicked my tongue, "I know how to take care of myself, I'm not a baby."
"Of course." Castillo replied, shaking his head as he glared at the deep wound. "Just the way you're doing now." He said, his word dripping with sarcasm.
"I never asked you to….to look after me, okay?"
"Just….shut up." He shushed me up and I bit my lips as I watched him handle the wound like a pro.
When did he become a doctor? Well, he had always dreamt about being one and that explained why he was so worried seeing me bleed.
Somehow, his father didn't want him to study medicine but I didn't know why Castillo chose to join my gang and not handle his father's mafia clan.
"Well, I think you need to stop having this low cut hairstyle." I gestured at his hair, which was looking like a bird's nest. Did he have a fight with some hawks or insane lions?
"Since you don't like it I'd keep my hair then just like I have done years ago." He gave me smile as he patted my cheek.
"Why do you always find a way to...I mean you always do everything I ask. Now you want to change your hairstyle because I don't like it? Is there something I don't know, Cas?" I gave him a frown but he kept the smile on his face instead.
"What do you think?" He dropped the scissors in his hand and moved his face closer to mine. My brows widened as I froze, unable to move. He was going to kiss me but a buzz on his phone interrupted us. Us? No, him.
He gulped down and ran his hands through his hair. "Sorry." He muttered and pecked me on the lips before winking at me.
My mouth hung in surprise as I watched him leave. What was this supposed to be? A friendly kiss?
Was this what best friends do?
