Chapter 14: Vũ Phi Toàn's Change

She turned to look at him and noticed that his eyes held only coldness and sorrow. Why had Phi Toàn suddenly become so unfamiliar and terrifying? Was this his true nature, and he had only treated her differently? Or had her death changed him?

She swallowed hard. Vũ Phi Toàn was well-known in the industry, partly because of the powerful father backing him. Even if he killed someone, there would be ways to cover it up. However, her current identity was the son of Trần Hùng, a man of considerable wealth and power. If Phi Toàn dared to kill her, he would face significant trouble. She didn't want to cause him any problems, so she withdrew her hand.

At that moment, Thế Anh stepped forward, blocking the gun barrel and gently pushing it down.

"Vũ Phi Toàn, whatever you plan to do, you should at least respect my father."

Immediately, the gun was pointed at Nguyễn Thế Anh's forehead. She was once again shocked beyond belief. Normally, Vũ Phi Toàn was calm and careful in everything he did, not reckless and bloodthirsty like this. His lips parted, his voice low yet full of menace:

"Nguyễn Thế Anh. You're good, cleaning up after yourself so well. Once he wakes up and your crimes are fully exposed, I'll personally send you on your way. Or, if you prefer, I can do it now."

What was Phi Toàn talking about? Did he manage to capture the assassin, who was now in a coma and unable to reveal any information? But he was so certain—was he saying that the mastermind behind the assassination of her brother, and of herself, was Nguyễn Thế Anh?

Nguyễn Thế Anh simply smiled, neither responding nor resisting.

This bastard. She didn't care who killed him, but it definitely couldn't be Phi Toàn.

Hoàng Hải Vân recalled moments from the past. Phi Toàn frequently visited her workplace. Many times, she would absentmindedly glance at the lifeless bodies on the operating table and ask him:

"If one day I die, you'll be the one to find the culprit, right?"

He frowned. "Don't talk nonsense."

She smiled sweetly. "You'd do everything to bring them to justice, wouldn't you?"

He didn't answer, his expression deep in thought.

Once, she had asked, "Life is so fragile. Why don't we just love each other? That way, if I die early, there'll be no regrets."

He didn't reply, only changing the subject.

She had always understood him well. He was someone who could abandon everything to complete his mission. Even personal feelings didn't matter to him. Some people envied his success, claiming it was due to his family's influence, but she knew his achievements came entirely from his own abilities. A person with both intelligence and determination was bound to succeed.

And she had always known that romantic love was insignificant to him.

Yet now, she couldn't shake the feeling that, deep down, he did have a heart.
