"Hey!" A robotic-like voice resounded within a deeply asleep young man. His eyes only fluttered slightly in response before going back to a state of non-existence.
"Wake up Spes!" He spoke again, this time loud enough to jerk the young man up, his eyes wide-open, confused to what was happening.
"Liber?" Spes said, rubbing his eyes recognizing who had just woke him up
"Why did you wake me up so early?", looking outside the tent, it was still slightly dark, the sun barely showing signs of rising.
"It's done!" Liber laughed, sending images to Spes's mind.
[[Project 1]]
[[Objective: Defragment 369 pages]]
[[Progress: 100%]]
[[Project 1.1]]
[[Objective: Full Analysis of Project 1]]
[[Progress: 100%]]
"Already?!" Spes eyes widened reading the words in front of him.
"And what is this?" He added, sending his hand to feel the blue panels holding the texts, his fingers passing through them, without a single resistance.
"My soul, it hasn't fully recovered from that ritual blast yet. For the entire night, with the help of the seed I managed to heal a small portion of it. To my surprise not only did the seed's data processing speed increase but I could now access more of its functions, like the panels you're seeing right now!" Spes smiled as Liber spoke continuously without any pause, his excitement clearly at its peak.
"So what now?! Can I wield magic now?!" Spes matched Liber's excitement, pacing left and right.
"Not yet, I just have to send to your mind all the data the seed has processed."
"Are you ready?" Liber asked, a new panel appearing in front of Spes.
[[Data transfer request: Project 1 + Project 1.1]]
>>Accept
>>Reject
"How convenient." Spes laughed, sending his finger to the Accept option.
[[Request accepted]]
[[Transferring Data]]
Spes eyes then constricted, a huge amount of information entering his mind. Everything seemed smooth at first but a few breaths in, the young man frowned as he was assaulted with a sudden pain throughout his entire head.
"Stop!" He grunted, clutching his head with both hands.
[[Transfer aborted]]
"Are you okay? What happened?" Liber's asked, his emotion returning to his voice.
"I-I don't know... It just hurt me so much..." Spes said with his back slightly hunched, beads of sweat rolling down his face.
"Weird..." Liber mumbled, searching through his database on what might've caused the rejection. It didn't take too long for him to come up with multiple theories, displaying the most probable one to Spes.
[[Transfer failed]]
[[Error: Encrypted seed data is incompatible with recipient's cognitive-soul framework]]
[[Recommendation: Initiate synchronization protocol]]
"What's all that mean?" Spes squinted his eyes seeing the many unknown words in front of him.
"I can't send you what I know because the data in my head is incompatible to yours. And the only way to make it work is for you to attempt fusing with the seed, just as I did."
"It shouldn't be as dangerous anymore right? Since you're already in there." Spes scratched his head, the headache from earlier slowly fading away.
"You're right but... if you were to do so, you would lose control over your physical body."
"Why?"
"You soul is bound to your body, attempting to fuse with the seed would sever the link between your body and soul... I could only assimilate into the seed because I had no physical host."
"So we're back to square one..." Spes sighed.
"Not really, we DID succeed. I have complete comprehension of the tome. Surely there is something inside that can help our situation."
[[New task initiated]]
[[Objective: Transfer encrypted data to recipient]]
[[Researching seed data...]]
[[0 exact solutions found]]
Spes smiled bitterly reading the last blue line. As he was about to tell Liber to just forget about it, another line popped in front of him:
[[1 alternative solution found: Linked Soul Channeling]]
"Linked soul channeling?"
[[Linked Soul Channeling: A process in which a soul is linked to another, allowing both parties to channel magic through each other.]]
"Our souls are already linked! With this, I can channel magic through your body and you won't even need to learn anything!"
"That's sounds too good to be true... What's the catch?"
"There is a possibility of negative feedback if your mana would suddenly conflict against mine while I channel my magic through you..." Liber answered honestly, both their safeties at risk if something were to go wrong.
"And what if I never pick up magic training?" Spes held his chin, an sudden idea coming out of him.
"That.. that is actually really smart coming from you." Liber gasped as he analyzed the scenario in his head, while
"Were you to give up magic training, the possibility of negative reaction from the process would be null as my magic would overwhelm yours."
"Screw this... you risked your life to fuse with the seed, giving up magic is nothing compared to that. I can always ask one of them to train me to become knight." Spes chuckled, as he would still technically be able to wield magic in a way, just not directly.
"Yes! That way we wouldn't have any weaknesses, you train the body and I train the mind!"
