Chapter 109 - Chapter 109. Where Did the Herrscher of Sentience Go? Did Theresa Turn Stupid?

[Hahaha~~ Ancestor Kevin did great! That really shut Otto up!]

[LOL, Schicksal Overseer Otto just got wrecked by dark Fu Hua. I could ride this meme all year.]

[The opening of the afternoon stream was flawless. Totally worth the wait.]

...

Hokuto looked at Kevin and thought he might have to schedule "Kevin slurping noodles" as his next meme release.

Time to hurt each other, huh?

But a distant fire won't save the one at your doorstep.

He decided to change the subject: "Speaking of dark Fu Hua, she's done quite a few earth-shaking things in the recent chapters, like tearing down the World Serpent base with Jackal. You must have a lot of thoughts while playing through it, right?"

Kevin: "..."

"Jackal is... useful. And I don't just mean in combat."

Kevin gave a brief pause, then simply recited a line straight from the story.

"Heh heh~ Seems that whether as the World Serpent Sovereign or a Honkai Impact 3rd player, Kevin's opinion of Jackal is remarkably consistent."

Hokuto let out an Otto-like chuckle.

Kevin kept a cold expression and said,

"Actually, more surprising than Jackal was seeing Fu Hua end up like that. She even got tricked by the paramecium later in the story. Unbelievable."

"According to the Second Law of IQ, intelligence always transfers from the higher to the lower." Hokuto said with utter seriousness.

Kevin questioned that theory.

"But later, Kiana didn't manage to fool the Herrscher of Sentience. She just made her angry, and they ended up fighting."

"Clearly, the IQ transmission wasn't sufficient yet." Hokuto answered without hesitation.

Like a comic routine, the two summarized the latest chapters of the main story in a lighthearted and entertaining way—

All the way to the battle between the Herrscher of Sentience and Kiana, and Kiana punching through the seal to rescue Fu Hua.

"As for Fu Hua's safety, I believe everyone's reassured by now. But I know there's still someone you're all concerned about... a certain Herrscher..."

"So let's take a look at what became of the Herrscher of Sentience."

As Hokuto said this—

The stream screen shifted.

A field of pure white.

Only a blinking text box remained: ["Herrscher of Sentience": "..."]

Notably, the name "Herrscher of Sentience" was enclosed in quotation marks.

Perhaps indicating that she acknowledged her identity as a Herrscher—but would not yield to the Honkai?

The white light faded.

The figures of the Herrscher of Sentience and Fu Hua appeared.

The Herrscher of Sentience had her back turned to Fu Hua, while Fu Hua looked toward her from the side.

"So strange."

There was confusion in the Herrscher of Sentience's voice.

"Why did I lose?"

"Be it speed, strength, spirit, or willpower... I should far surpass you."

She trailed off, then laughed bitterly at her own words.

"Hmph, hahaha... Is it because I'm a Herrscher that I'm destined to lose?"

Fu Hua: "You've realized it."

This referred to her finally admitting her identity as a Herrscher.

As Fu Hua's voice fell, the camera turned—

Revealing the Herrscher of Sentience's aggrieved expression.

"No matter how much I deceive myself... once I used my full strength... no, even earlier than that..."

She gave a self-mocking laugh:

"Heh~ I just refused to admit it... I'm the Herrscher of Sentience, the one who controls consciousness. If I want to deny something, it should be a piece of cake, right?"

"And yet, in the end... what I always wanted to become wasn't me... and what I tried to destroy all along was actually myself. I laughed at everyone else... but in the end, the biggest joke was me."

Whether she was making a reference or not, the viewers didn't know.

But no one was laughing—

Because the girl really looked too pitiful.

"...There's no real fairness in this world, is there?"

Her voice cracked with emotion at the end. The look of distress on her face made people's hearts ache.

Fu Hua turned to face her, clearly wanting to comfort her.

"Being born a Herrscher isn't your fault."

"The Will of Honkai has always lurked in your heart, trying to corrupt it—but you never gave in."

"I know you're not the embodiment of evil. Not a puppet of the Honkai."

But Fu Hua was still Fu Hua—the five-thousand-year-old awkward straight woman.

Halfway through her comforting, she suddenly shifted tone and started explaining why she couldn't let the Herrscher of Sentience have control of the body again.

She had to fight for her companions. Resist the Honkai...

Is that what the kid wanted to hear?

Sure enough, the Herrscher of Sentience got upset.

She lashed out, saying Fu Hua would die without her—

That Fu Hua couldn't wield Herrscher powers or resist Honkai Erosion in her current state.

Fu Hua responded:

"I will do my best to resist. So I ask that you lend me your strength."

Fu Hua... sent a cohabitation request.

Herrscher of Sentience: "..."

"No way!"

"You still want me to help you? Hahahaha, are you stupid!? Like hell I'd help you! Go die! Share a body? Just the thought makes me sick!"

"Goodbye! No, farewell forever! I'm leaving! You'll never—never stop me!"

She refused Fu Hua's invitation without hesitation.

"...Where are you going?"

"What's it to you? I'll go wherever I want—nobody can stop me."

She declared she was running away from home—

No, actually, the world was too big. She just wanted to see it.

Explore the wonders of the world.

"I've got nothing to do with you anymore. Goodbye!"

The screen blacked out—then lit up again.

Scene: Taixu Mountain.

Kiana held the newly awakened Bronya in her arms. Together, they looked up.

Fu Hua descended slowly from the stone steps, bathed in sunlight, and gave the two girls a gentle smile.

CG short: End.

[To summarize: Mom asked her daughter for her account password, miscommunication happened, daughter got mad, ran away.]

[Pffft! Sister Herrscher clearly said she just wanted to go see the world!]

[Seele's a bit offended. Sharing a body isn't that bad, okay? "Please, another me!" is an invincible skill!]

[Seele: Everyone calling me "Xi'er" is getting logged in my little notebook.]

[So the Herrscher of Sentience just left? At least she didn't disappear... Leaving's okay, I guess.]

...

Although the short was less than four minutes long, there was an endless stream of roast-worthy content.

The barrage of comments never stopped once it started.

"Seems like everyone's pretty satisfied with the Herrscher of Sentience's ending."

Hokuto observed the chat and then turned to Kevin and Theresa:

"What did you two think of the ending?"

Kevin thought for a moment.

"World Serpent is always open to the Herrscher of Sentience. I advise the scriptwriter not to waste good talent. We need people like her."

A playful glint crossed Hokuto's face.

"Come to think of it, Kevin does seem to have a thing for Herrschers.

Invited Bronya and Welt. Invited Mei. Now the Herrscher of Sentience."

"He's invited practically every Herrscher who could hold a conversation."

"And yet, wasn't it Kevin who once promised humanity would defeat the Honkai?"

"...I didn't write the script. How am I supposed to explain your choices?"

Kevin replied coldly:

"Anyway, we clearly couldn't have Kevin slaughter all the Herrschers. If that happened, the story wouldn't be able to continue, would it?"

"Yeah."

Hokuto replied meaningfully: "You're right."

Then Hokuto turned to Theresa.

Theresa thought seriously.

"It's a pity Mei got snatched away by World Serpent. If she were here, maybe she could have talked the Herrscher of Sentience into staying."

"Can't Theresa handle it?" Hokuto prodded. "As the Academy Head of St. Freya, shouldn't you be great at educating kids?"

Theresa: "..."

"You think this is whose fault exactly?" Her face clearly showed her displeasure.

"It's Otto's influence on you," Hokuto explained casually.

"As long as Otto's still alive, Theresa will always be a little girl. No amount of potential changes that."

Before Theresa could even respond, the audience had already started shouting:

[Then hurry up and kill Otto! Overthrow Otto, hail Queen Theresa!]

[My champagne's been chilling forever. When do we pop it?!]

[Getting whacked by dark Fu Hua isn't enough! Let Theresa smash Otto's face with Oath of Judah!]

...

"Hehe~~"

Seeing the chat, Hokuto addressed the crowd.

"If it were any other match-up, maybe. But Otto versus Theresa? Not likely."

He paused, smiling slightly.

"After all, Otto was actually really kind to Theresa."

"For example, he once told her: if you just prep the ingredients and the recipe on the cooking table, then take a nap, the food will be ready when you wake up."

Kevin: "That's clearly impossible."

Hokuto nodded.

"Exactly. That's why Otto cooked it himself while Theresa was asleep. That's the real reason."

Kevin seemed thoughtful.

"I didn't expect Otto to have that side to him. But this plot didn't appear in Honkai Impact 3rd, right? Not in any main story or event?"

"Because it's actually hidden in the dorm mini-event." (In this world.)

Hokuto explained.

[Wait what? That's a thing? Otto did that?!]

[Magic cooking, really? No wonder Theresa turned out like this.]

[I was hoping Theresa would get her own CG in the chapter Otto gets defeated. The final showdown—Theresa vs Otto!]

[Why are you guys making storyboards? Theresa already has a movie! Leave CG shorts to someone else.]

...

Seeing the mention of the movie, Hokuto glanced at Theresa.

"What're you looking at me for?" Theresa snapped.

"I'm going to show the movie now." Hokuto said softly.

Theresa's expression froze.

"Go ahead, I don't care!"

After all, Hokuto was going to show it no matter what she said—might as well act tough.

"Well then..."

Hokuto turned to the camera and smiled at the stream:

"Alright, since everyone's so excited, it's time to bring out the Honkai Impact 3rd movie."

[Otto-sensei always knows what I want—even if I wish he understood me less when writing (less trauma pls).]

[Let's go! The Honkai Impact 3rd movie! I heard it stars Theresa!]

[The world's cutest Theresa is finally rising up! I've waited so long for this!]

[Hyped! Hyped!]

With the crowd cheering,

The stream changed screens.

The movie opened on a ruined city—desolate and bleak.

A voiceover began:

"One year into the Honkai Era, the world was suddenly thrown into cataclysm."

"Where can fleeing survivors turn to save a world on the verge of collapse?"

The camera zoomed into the ruins.

A girl with light purple hair was fleeing for her life.

Even though her body was completely numb from exhaustion, she kept running, as if something terrifying was chasing her.

She tripped—fell face-forward.

Then came a strange noise: "teriri~"

Hearing that, her expression changed drastically.

Trembling, she looked up.

"No—don't come any closer—"

A shadow loomed over her. The camera zoomed out.

And the audience realized...

She was surrounded by Theresa look-alikes—

No, not Theresa... Deresha?!

Wait, wasn't this supposed to be Theresa's big moment? Why does something feel off?

The animation continued.

One Deresha fired a laser from her eyes, striking the girl.

Her eyes changed—gaining the same "wisdom" as the Dereshas'.

What did that even mean?

No time to think—the scene changed.

A lab.

Kiana slammed a bat into a Deresha's head, sending her flying. Bitter melon juice splashed on her weapon.

After taking out the Deresha, Kiana leaned against a wall, peeking through a crack to see a horde of aimlessly wandering Dereshas.

She asked someone in the room:

"How's it going, Dr. Rice?"

A bald doctor with no facial features except eyebrows and a mouth—his face marked with the character '米'—appeared on-screen.

Through their conversation,

The viewers learned the movie's setting:

The Deresha virus had spread globally.

Anyone infected would turn into a Deresha.

The outside world had almost entirely fallen.

To save this doomed timeline, they had to activate a space-time transfer device to correct the anomaly.

But something went wrong.

To ensure Kiana could make it out, Dr. Rice sacrificed himself.

[Again with this "sacrifice for victory" thing! I can't take it anymore!]

[??? I thought this was about Theresa's comeback?! This isn't what I imagined at all!]

[Theresa becomes a global calamity—that's not rising up? Y'all are hard to please. (lol)]

[Damn! How dare miHoYo slander my Theresa! I'll never forgive them! (Who's got that Deresha meme pack, DM me!)]

[Anyone who insults Queen Theresa must be executed! (Also send me those memes plz)]

...

Mouths say one thing, hearts say another.

Theresa's heart sank further as she watched.

There would definitely be more people using those memes now.

Damn it!

She worked so hard to earn back her dignity with Starlit Astrologos!

No. She needed a plan.

Time to drop another isomer version of herself.

Even Theresa had given up on Theresa's original self at this point.

Amidst the chaotic commentary—

The movie continued playing.

The audience watched in awe.

They had thought the midday meme video was the peak.

Turns out... they had underestimated the official devs.

This movie?

This was the real canon annihilating all fanon.

They even felt like the devs had stolen all their meme thunder.

Time passed.

The movie came to an end.

Kiana successfully saved the world.

In a peaceful scene, all Honkai Impact 3rd characters gathered around a massive anniversary cake.

They were all smiling brightly.

The screen froze.

The stream was now filled with "Happy Anniversary" messages.

Hokuto prepared to end the stream.

He looked at Kevin—Kevin got the cue, stood up, and raised his hand.

Elysia's cheerful voice rang out:

"Catch, Kevin!"

Whoosh!

Judgment of Shamash flew in an arc—Kevin caught it with ease.

He leaned on it, his gaze sharp.

Before he even spoke, the chat exploded:

[Humanity will definitely defeat the Honkai!!]

[Humanity will definitely defeat the Honkai!!]

[Fight for all thats beautiful in the world!]
