*Screech!!*
A ruthless sound is heard from the sewers of pismo coast city, as the entire neighborhood turns chaotic, filled with screams from people as they try to run to safety, the sight of mutated insects wasn't just dreadful, it was horrifying.
The sewers were home to all kinds of pests, insects, rodents and reptiles alike, so the moment the wave struck, they all got mutated, as their size grew larger so did there appetite, there was only one thing that could quell their hunger..."Humans".
"What the hell is happening?!, why are my hands glowing and how am I floating in the air?!"
A feminine voice loudly called out, adding to the chaos in the scene.
"Calm down Chloe, now is not the time to be asking questions, we should focus on survival."
Mike, his silver tipped black hair and radiant blue eyes seemed brighter in the slight darkness caused by the dark clouds covering the suns rays, which was a result of the cosmic wave. He tried to calm Chloe down in a low but assuring tone.
"You should just let her scream her throat off and attract the bugs, you don't need to protect her Mikey."
Mio scoffed while glaring daggers at the confused Chloe.
"What did you just say?!, you annoying bitch."
Chloe immediately shot back, as she glared back at Mio, her eyebrows furrowed and her shiny brown eyes tainted red with malice.
"Come on guys we shouldn't be fi...."
*vooom!!* "I don't know where these wings came from but, I'll use them to get the fuck outta here!!"
A man with dark feathered wings suddenly flew past the lot while yelling on top of his voice and cutting off Mike's words as he tried to calm the girls down.
"...it seems everything is happening the same way it did in the future...or is it the present now...haaa, time travel sucks!"
Mike, contemplating out loud with his hands on his chin.
"It's just as the broadcast said on the big screen...I mean look over there, people are..."
Mio didn't need to finish her sentence as Mike had already turned to look at the chaotic sit.
The once breathtaking city was reduced to shambles, contrary to it's former glory. Thick black smoke filled the sky as several buildings we're on fire. Gigantic insects could be seen from afar as they swarmed the sky. Even people suddenly grew abnormal traits, such as, wings, extra arms, fish fins, and some even turned half beast.
Some people combusted from the inside, and became mindless beings with flaming skulls and attacked other humans.
Mike had no words to describe the state of the once magnificent city, known for its glamour, it was simply "HELL ON EARTH"
"Mike could you please put me down already!"
Chloe called out to Mike as she couldn't stand the horrid sight of the city anymore, and immediately turned to her and said, his voice, extreme concern.
"But the bugs are everywhere and you still don't understand your abilities, you c...."
"Just put me down already!, I can handle myself!"

Chloe had snapped at him before he could finish as she was feeling somewhat at ease, because of the window that had popped up in her view. She had red a lot of fantasy novels, and knows well that this was definitely some kind of protagonist 'O. P' moment.
"Hey! You ungrateful bitch!, don't talk to my Mikey like that again!!"
Mio snapped at her as she made to fly closer to the rude girl but Mike held her hands stopping her intended actions.
"(Her Mikey?!, since when did she call me that?!, well...it really feels good to hear it though...ugh!! What am I thinking at a time like this...)" Mike's thoughts was almost audible as he shook his head to keep himself rational. He had already gently dropped Chloe on the ground while himself and Mio were still hovering in the air.
"Your one to talk, you possessive bitch!, what do you mean 'your Mikey', since when was he yours?!"
Chloe who's feet just touched the ground, shot back at Mio ruthlessly without hesitation.
Mio's expression went from mean to nervous as she heard her own words from Chloe's mouth. Her face flushed red as she struggled to find her words.
"I...I..., he's my....
*screech!!!!*
Suddenly came the screech of multiple mutated cockroaches, they instantly surrounded the lot.
*Pueww!* *Boom!*
"Leave this to me!"
Chloe said confidently, she had blasted a cockroach with the strange beam coming from her glowing hands, the cockroach was instantly vaporized.
"I'll take care of it as well Mikey, so just stay there and watch me.(...whaaa!, did I just say watch me?!,...it sounds like a cheeky line from a heroine movie!, aahh! I just wanna disappear...) "
Mio tried to sound cool and confident but her inner thoughts continued to betray her.
She flew closer to some of mutated cockroaches, her expression turned cold as she uttered the words....
"Windstorm, Multi Wind blades!"
*foom!* *foom!* *foom!* *foom!* *foom!*
*Slice!* *Slice!* *Slice!* *Slice!* *Slice!*
She had turned highly compressed wind into medium size circular blades and launched it at the enemy, and it sliced through each of them, leaving non alive.
Mike's jaws dropped in awe of Mio's versatility in using her abilities.
"Show off, let's see who kills more of these bastards" *Peuw!* *Peuw!* *Boom!!*
Chloe snorted, and started killing more insects with energy blasts which came out of her glowing hands.
And soon, both girls were engaged in fierce competition to see who comes out on top. Mike could only watch as he floated in the sky. It was a total massacre, the scene reeked of dead insects and yet it seemed there was no end to the plague.
"Umm...Mio, C-Chloe!, I think they called for reinforcements."
Mike noticed the huge swarm of insects approaching them at full speed and immediately informed the others.
"Ugh!, these persistent bastards!,...reminds of certain someone you know."
Chloe said with a smirk while shooting glares at Mio.
"What did you just say?!!,...you know what forget it, there's no time for this, I'll take care of the swarm."
Both Chloe and Mike's eyes widened at Mio's words as they stared at her intensely.
Mio zoomed towards the incoming swarm and stopped right on top of them, she wasn't bothered by the heavy screeches that came from the enemies that were now locked on her. She let out a relaxing sigh, her voice calm but bold as she said the words....
"Windstorm, Raging Tempest"
At those words, a huge swirling tornado suddenly emerged in the middle of the swarming insects. It gathered all of them together, then swung them across the city, slamming them on walls, pavements, buildings and other sturdy surfaces. As a result none lived to tell the tail.
Mike's pupils bulged at their sockets as his entire body was bathed in Goosebumps. He wasn't just in awe, he was terrified of Mio's destructive power.
"(...I don't think I could escape from that technique without my teleportation ability, I might not even be able to freeze time if it came suddenly. She's really a monster)"
...tch! D-Don't get so full of yourself just because of one swarm..." Chloe paused a bit to compose herself, she was bewildered as well by Mio's Power, but she wasn't gonna acknowledge it, that would just be accepting defeat and she hating losing more than anything. "I can do it too" she puffed her chest in confidence.
Chloe's face lit up with a radiant smile as her eyes caught another incoming swarm of insects. "Stand back, I'll take care of this one." She stepped forward boldly, she'd gotten a chance at the spot light, she shot a glance at the confused Mike, her lips stretched into a confident smile as she said...
"I can do anything she can do, so just watch me okay."
"Hmph!" Mio pouted, her expression, indifferent as she continued... "Let's see about that(...whaaa! she's even cringier than me, she even stole my line, what a bitch ugh!!)"
Mio had finished her statements with her indifferent expression, but her inner monologue betrayed it.
Mike was too confused and concerned to utter a single word as he was still floating in the chaotic sky.
Chloe moved further towards the direction of the swarming insects, filled with determination, she gritted her teeth. Horrifying screeches came from the enemies as if to intimidate her, but she stood her ground firmly.
"Come at me you bastards!!" She yelled while cupping both her glowing palms beside her waist and taking a heroic stance, it was like watching g*ku prepare the kame****ha.
"I gotta focus and gatther all the energy into one blast (...to think I'd copy one of her techniques ugh! I don't have a choice, I'll do anything to win!!)"
She was pissed that she had to take a page out of her rivals book, but she was resolved to do anything that would lead to victory.
The energy that came from both her palms crashed into one another as she compressed them into a tiny ball.
"( No! It's not enough!! )" her thoughts were so loud that they couldn't just remain thoughts anymore as she called out on top of her voice.... "MOOOOREEE!!!"
At that moment there was an instant surge in her body, as her arms which only glowed up to her elbow, now instantly glowed up to her shoulder, burning her short sleeve clothes to a crisp. Her brown eyes and blue hair also glowed with a radiant yellow light.
Her glowing hair tossed around in the air beautifully.
The compressed energy in her palms grew bigger and stronger by the second. As soon as it reached the size of a football, she launched it towards the enemies while shouting....
"DIEEEE!!!!!"
The blast instantly reached its target and landed in the dead center, their was absolute silence for exactly 2 seconds, and after that came...
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!*
The football sized blast had grown larger as soon as it detonated, vaporizing the insects and part of the scene with it.
"See! I...can...do it...too"
Chloe could barely finish her words as she blacked out, falling to the ground and both her hair and arms instantly lost their radiant glow.
And immediately as if they'd been waiting for an opening, several gigantic mutated rats the size of a car swarmed Chloe's body.
"Chloe!!" *snap*
Mike immediately snapped his fingers and instantly froze time, and warped towards Chloe, grabbed her and warped again to grab Mio who was also frozen, as soon as he touched her she unfroze.
"Mikey?!,...did you freeze time again, Chloe was..." Mio's eyes instantly caught Chloe who was in Mike's arms, and she asked, "what happened to her!"
"There's no time for that, we gotta find a place to lay low, I don't know how long I can keep this up."
Mike said with a sense of urgency.
"(...come on mike, think!!, where in the city can we find a place to use as a safe house...) Mike's thoughts paused for a moment, "safe, saving!," And that's when it hit him... "The Bank!"
He took Mio's hands and *warp* they vanished.
As they left, time unfroze and everything went back to normal.
"What just happened, did they leave, but how though?!"
Suddenly a man walked out of a corner on a nearby rooftop which was near the scene of the battle, he was holding his smartphone with it's camera rolling. He was an influencer, he was live streaming when the Apocalypse hit and happened to stumble upon the scoop of a life time.
"...I swear I never blinked, but they suddenly vanished into thin air..." he took a pause and let out a sigh, "atleast I got the scoop, but I don't think it would matter anymore in this fucked up world would it?"
He gazed at the ruined city, flames running wild and buildings crumbling to the ground.
"Who the hell opened the gates of hell!"
His live stream had gotten across the the world and most people who were able to watch were in awe.
In a dark corner of a large room in an unknown location, a feminine figure who's face was shrouded in darkness, holding her phone which was viewing the live stream, her lips stretched into a cold and evil smile as she said the words...
"I finally found you."
