The music played on, nobles twirling and laughing on the grand ballroom floor. Isadora stood beside the food cart — until a presence approached them.
"Good evening, my lady," came a smooth, unfamiliar voice.
Isadora turned to find Prince Cedric standing before her. Up close, his blonde hair gleamed under the chandelier light, and his blue eyes held a curious, almost knowing look.
Isadora dipped her head respectfully. "Your Highness."
Cedric offered a small, charming smile. "I don't believe we've met. May I know your name?"
"I am Lady Isadora of the D'Amaro family," she replied, her voice steady though her nerves fluttered under his intense gaze.
Cedric raised a brow, intrigued. "D'Amaro … I see. Well, Lady Isadora, forgive my surprise, but I was not aware our kingdom held such a woman of rare beauty. Your features… quite unlike anything I've seen before." His gaze lingered a beat too long on her green eyes and striking ginger hair.
