Chapter 62 - Chapter 61: Beast spirit masters and awakening

"Gyyiii!!!"

The creature's screams of pain made its companions more active.

Thud

However, Sanguinius ignored the agitation around him caused by the wounded beast.

The young man punched its carapace as he withdrew his sword created from steel from the ruins of Baal Secundus's ancient technological civilization.

The brutal action literally severely damaged the fire scorpion's carapace as he created distance.

Any human would be shocked by the power demonstrated by the 3-year-old man, but he wasn't satisfied.

'Sanguinius was able to handle this thing alone, just a few weeks after emerging from the gestation capsule'

He tightened his grip around his sword as his skin became red and bulged with veins due to using the knight breathing technique.

Unlike the Sanguinius of this universe, it had taken longer.

It took him 1 week to fully adapt to Baal Secundus's harsh climate, and 1 month to start developing properly.

As for Sanguinius from the Warhammer 40k universe, he looked like an adult human at age 1.

At that time, he was already a central element of his tribe and had nothing left to learn from them.

He was able to accomplish all that without "cheats".

Thus, Sanguinius (Damien) had a bitter taste of defeat in his mouth, but what could he do?

He's not a lab-created Human who benefited from the attention of a superior mind.

He was just Damien, 4 years and some months ago.

A normal guy, but he was able to benefit from some evolution thanks to his decades in the nightmare tower, using the Stab skill.

But still, that doesn't catch up to real talents.

He can just count on cheats to compensate and later surpass these human-skinned monsters.

Bam

After dodging a poisoned stinger strike, he moved like a ghost between the fire scorpions.

Each strike of his sword aimed at the gaps or flaws in the natural armor of the creatures before him.

[Warning! An attack has been detected from behind]

Sanguinius ducked his head after listening to Rasputin.

Unlike Leylin Farlier, he had decided to give a name to the intelligent tool.

Of course, he wasn't comfortable with a female name.

Imagining a woman in his skull wasn't pleasant, so he opted for the name of an AI from a video game or a legendary Russian pseudo-prophet.

It must also be understood that Rasputin is in his element on Baal Secundus.

This planet emits radiation, just like all its creatures.

It's almost impossible to catch Sanguinius off guard thanks to him.

He was able to compensate for the void left by the Divination skill, which is now powered by the Warp or spiritual energy.

As for using suspicions?

The current Sanguinius is just a fragment of the real one, he's not a proxy clone.

This option is usable, but impossible in the middle of combat.

Thus, Sanguinius found himself limited because of the warp.

Finally, it took him less than ten minutes to finish the pack of raging fire scorpions.

Exhale.

Gray smoke came out of his mouth as he stopped using the breathing technique.

"Well, it's time to gather all the benefits."

Sanguinius gathered all the fire scorpion spoils, except one, in a slightly enclosed area on the ground.

He began to carve runes using the little spiritual power he has, which he obtained through Leylin Farlier's wife's advanced meditation method.

Normally, he would never have been able to use his spiritual energy to carve a matrix or spell formation at his current level.

Because of the severe lack of resources and his reluctance to use his existential points, he was only able to reach rank 3 Acolyte of a Magus.

Not a bad feat, in a world without resources, with only a meditation method as support for 2 years.

However, he's also a psyker now.

Creatures similar to antennas, which capture Warp energy.

Except Sanguinius doesn't use this to capture Warp energy.

He uses soul energy itself.

Thanks to his sensitivity or newly obtained control over his soul, due to his psyker status, he was able to carve his spiritual runes on the ground.

Wild runes, which come from the purgatory world of Leylin's universe.

Blood.

Yes, it's not a good idea to use soul energy without absolute control and a powerful soul.

Especially since he's using a high-level spell formation.

'I can't depend on the Warp like the Imperium, so I have to find other sources of power.'

Fortunately, the world will isn't against the use of soul and spiritual energy resulting from it.

The material world allowed this, as well as the use of vital energy.

Otherwise, he would have had to give up on knight techniques or powers from the Magus world and Purgatory.

He would even be forced to have the Mechanicus as an enemy, hence the Imperium.

'I could have taken the path of a magus and a scientist, if the empire wasn't stuck in the age of stagnation'

Baal Secundus isn't yet ravaged by the Tyranids, which means the Regent of the Imperium isn't yet awakened.

So, using technology manipulation, regardless of your talent, is a guaranteed death guarantee.

While carving the runes, Sanguinius congratulated himself for having asked for Leylin's AI chip, with knowledge adapted to his magic system.

At first, he had doubted the accessibility of using the ancient Magus formation method.

Why?

Because the knowledge had been adapted to his magic system at the time.

But Rasputin reassured him.

Indeed, the knowledge has been adapted, but their old evolution path remained intact.

So, Rasputin perfectly remembers how the old system worked, and it will adapt perfectly to "skills" and "magic" because of the old man from Eris.

He just needs to increase his spiritual energy reserves and his soul strength.

Thus, he'll depend less on the Warp.

The plan is perfect, no?

But there's a problem in it.

The more powerful a soul is, the brighter it shines in the immaterium.

His non-use of the warp will protect him, but demons and chaos gods will have great interest in him.

"Alright, it's time."

The magic formation began to glow as the creatures' souls emerged from their mortal remains.

They immediately manifested their anger and resentment toward their killer, but Sanguinius didn't care.

He just placed the container prepared for them, before sealing them inside one after another.

As for the last corpse?

He brought it back to the Tribe.

...

"Warchief!!"

"Warchief!!"

Upon arriving at the camp, Sanguinius was quickly greeted by hunters in their homemade anti-radiation gear.

He created this gear thanks to his knowledge and Rasputin.

Of course, no real technology.

The mechanicus is a real risk, but sanguinius plans to change that one day.

As for the title of Warchief, he obtained it by eliminating his adoptive father a few months after his birth.

On Baal Secundus, strength is the central element for electing a chief.

"No need to go hunting today," he said simply in response.

The tribal language is a version of Imperial Gothic.

The men in gear nodded to him and immediately began taking care of the carcass.

He didn't pay much attention to them anymore.

"I'm home..."

His mother wasn't present in his tent.

'She must have gone hunting.'

In the tribe renamed 'The Dragon's Wings', Sanguinius had distributed the knight breathing technique to certain people.

Of course, the unmodified version is full of side effects.

Only his mother and he have the correct version without harmful effects in case of poor practice.

That's why he wasn't worried about her.

He ended up going to sleep and resumed his usual cycle on Baal Secundus.

At dawn, he practices his meditation and later his breathing technique.

At noon, he goes hunting and in the afternoon, he gives lessons to young tribe members on various subjects related to forging and martial arts.

The only different thing now is the alteration of the fire scorpions' souls captured by him.

'The Path of Beast Spirits...'

Sanguinius's only chance to increase his strength quickly in an environment as poor in resources as Baal Secundus.

But also to access divinity in the material dimension without ending up twisted by the Warp.

The Path of Beast Spirits didn't go against the path of a Magus, which he's currently following to compensate for the lack of mana.

It's a path to power used by the inhabitants of the Purgatory World.

The Purgatory World housed various races, populated by numerous fierce beasts and highly energetic entities.

A contrary and similar situation to current Baal with its moons.

Some beings native to this world invented the concept of hunting these fierce beasts and extracting souls.

After extracting these, they would then be sealed in the user's body as tattoos, which then allowed invoking these spirits in combat through summoning techniques.

Beast spirit masters were classified according to their rank, from rank 1 to legendary rank 9.

A bit like the Magus.

However, there were never masters of this art beyond rank 5 in the Purgatory World.

Rank 6, 7 and higher masters were now relegated to legend status.

To access rank 7 or divinity, beast spirit masters had to submit the soul of a rank 7 beast.

So, a mortal entity had to defeat a god and seal its soul within them.

A distant dream and technically impossible without the help of a rank 7 entity, but still... the beast spiritual master's body also had to support this power.

And where the hell would he find a sealing formation capable of restraining a god?

Too many variables to consider.

'The only creatures close to the title of gods in the material universe are the Emperor or Empress here, and the C'tans.'

Finally, it took Sanguinius a few weeks to finish altering or refining the fire scorpions' souls sufficiently.

These no longer had any hatred toward him.

The sealing process would go smoothly, if he managed to support the energetic load thanks to his body and soul.

"I'm going." As he was about to leave,

He was stopped by a woman with bronze skin due to the desert sun, but with platinum blonde hair.

A unique appearance in this apocalyptic world from an earthly point of view.

"Are you really going out at this hour?"

It was late.

In Baal Secundus, nocturnal creatures are more active and aggressive than those of the day.

"Sorry, but I can't wait... Keep control of the tribe in my absence."

The woman wanted to let him pass, but stopped immediately upon hearing his words.

"You're going to be gone long!?"

Sanguinius simply nodded in response.

Advancement to a rank takes days, and sometimes weeks to finalize.

'Sorry, but I have to recover my full power.'

Each time he uses his skills without using his soul's limited spiritual energy, but the Warp,

Sanguinius takes a risk.

Maybe he'd be seen as paranoid by many.

But the Warp is similar to the Abyss.

The more you know, the less safe you are.

...Sanguinius knows way too much.

He has potentially already looked into the abyss because of his knowledge of Warhammer 40k lore.

"Ok, I'll keep the elders on a leash *sigh*"

After a small hug, he headed toward an unoccupied cave after verification.

He carved runic patterns on his hand, which belong to first-level 'Branded Swordsmen', and the beast spiritual sealing formation.

'This is gonna sting a bit...'

Branded Swordsmen, or the true origin of the knight's breathing technique.

They are a type of magus who become strong by drawing energy from the world around them.

A situation similar to Naruto's Sage Mode, but with extremely annoying restrictions.

...

Underground, in the DxD universe.

The man reported missing by his clones opened his eyes much earlier than expected.

The spiritual energy accumulated by the clone (avatar) and abandoning the use of Trust were enough to accelerate his soul's healing.

Sanguinius was awake.

Teleportation.

Thanks to his magic, Sanguinius emerged from his underground cryogenic capsule.

However, he had forgotten the motion detectors placed everywhere in the bunker.

[alert!! Intruder]

Several sounds echoed in the lair, but this was interrupted by a simple phrase:

"Cortana, I'm home."
