Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: Raising a tiger to cause trouble?

Li Tiangang secretly nodded. Although he was not a person who delighted in killing, since this reserve officer was so blind, then only death awaited him.

Song Zongwu had a bit more smile on his face. He recalled that some days ago, Ren Qing had inquired about the Bone Armor Technique.

Unexpectedly, not only had he already grasped it, but he had reached the Half-Corpse realm. Presumably, the Blindless Method's advancement to the Ghost Envoy realm should also be soon.

Li Tiangang looked toward the courtyard. Wang Ergou had already completely lost all signs of life.

Yet the corpse still twitched on the ground, as if not yet dead, and the speed at which the flesh was rotting could be seen with the naked eye.

Lady Luo sighed at this: "Even a Supernatural Remnant of the Martial Practitioner realm is not something ordinary people can control."

She immediately stood up and left the courtyard. Wang Ergou's corpse gradually turned into white bones.

Li Tiangang opened his mouth and said, "Soon it will no longer be something a Half-Corpse realm can deal with. Have a Restraint Officer replace the reserve officer."

This remark was not directed at Song Zongwu, he too had a mouth-bearing eyeball in hand, precisely the technique cast by Jiang Feng.

And Jiang Feng was mainly responsible for transmitting orders.

A moment later, Crows flew around the reserve officers, and Jiang Feng's voice sounded from their beaks, instructing them to leave the outskirts of the temple fair as soon as possible.

Ren Qing did not hesitate and immediately set off. The rat-men all pounced toward the corpse.

The rat-men gorged themselves, and their body sizes had already swelled to just over five meters.

Ren Qing looked back and felt his scalp tingle. Why did it feel like they were feeding a tiger and creating future trouble, he couldn't make heads or tails of it.

The rat-men did not dare chase after Ren Qing, but they were not nearly so restrained toward the other reserve officers, wishing they could eat their flesh and drink their blood.

Fortunately, the Restraint Officers took over dealing with the rat-men.

Once the reserve officers withdrew from the temple fair, they all found the situation somewhat confusing.

Each of them bore injuries of various sizes on their bodies, only Ren Qing had merely a few bloodstains on him, looking entirely composed.

The reserve officers all swallowed saliva in unison.

They deliberately kept several meters' distance; only Yan Jun came forward to greet Ren Qing. The atmosphere was slightly silent.

Ren Qing's gaze swept over the group. They were all Half-Corpse realm individuals who had only mastered a single technique, with advancement to Ghost Envoy realm nowhere in sight.

He calmed himself and observed the temple fair. The fighting inside lasted for a full half an hour, until the rat-men were all exterminated by the Restraint Officers.

The street was piled thick with flesh and blood, yet returned to calm.

Afterward, the Restraint Officers, following Li Tiangang's instructions, guarded the perimeter of the temple fair, deliberately clearing out the area around the fertility Goddess Temple.

Wang Ergou's corpse had already turned into black-red pus, continuously bubbling. Any nearby plant life that came into contact with it instantly disintegrated into ash.

Then, without warning, the flesh and blood covering the ground of the temple fair began to wriggle, rolling like waves toward the fertility Goddess Temple.

Li Tiangang narrowed his eyes and said, "As expected, Tu Di has completely lost his, intelligence, yet he still clings obstinately to the Summer Grass Formula, truly strange."

Song Zongwu spoke in a low tone: "A cultivator like him, lacking even a soul, and yet still not dead, that is what's truly strange."

"Don't worry. The savagery of beasts is known to all, but they're also the easiest to deal with."

After hearing this, Song Zongwu said nothing. His six eyes stared at Li Tiangang for a moment, then he turned and disappeared.

Li Tiangang placed his right hand on his chest and abdomen and pulled out a sheet of paper, recorded a few notes on it, then put it back.

Then he too left the temple fair.

The loss of control over the situation by the two seemed intentional.

From the blood puddle formed by Wang Ergou's corpse, mushrooms the size of a palm gradually began to sprout.

Among their red-and-white coloration, a distorted and ferocious human face could faintly be seen.

The human-faced mushroom was in a half-alive, half-dead state. Once it withered, a Supernatural Remnant riot would erupt.

Even if it was merely a Martial Practitioner realm Supernatural Remnant, it wouldn't form a Forbidden Zone, but could still cause no small amount of trouble.

Li Tiangang and Song Zongwu, however, showed not the slightest concern.

A moment later, when the human-faced mushroom grew to half a meter tall, signs of wilting suddenly appeared.

Under the astonished gazes of the other reserve officers, Ren Qing proactively stepped up to a high point and looked toward the distant temple fair. At some point, the flesh and blood on the street had vanished without a trace.

He simply used spirit-body separation and activated his Heavy Pupils, wanting to see more clearly.

Flesh and blood flowed through the gaps in the soil and were gradually absorbed as they touched the human-faced mushroom.

The human-faced mushroom grew even larger. Its exterior increasingly resembled a living person, even limbs began to sprout.

Just as the mushroom was about to fully take shape, cracks appeared across its surface, showing clear signs of collapse.

Ren Qing felt this technique seemed like a way to prevent the Supernatural Remnant from fully reviving.

There might also be deeper reasons, but they were not something he could reach.

After a few breaths of time, a thick arm burst out from underground. Its skin was covered in scales, and its claws were extremely sharp.

This was unmistakably Tu Di, and his or, it's degree of aberration was even deeper, it had completely transformed into a pangolin beast.

Tu Di bit down on the human-faced mushroom, swallowed it whole, and then burrowed back into the ground, disappearing to who knows where.

The soil in the courtyard churned for a moment, then returned to normal.

Once Ren Qing came back to his senses, he heard a noisy clamor. He withdrew his Heavy Pupils and turned to look. The crowds from the celebration parade were preparing to return to the western part of the city.

The constables made no attempt to stop them, and even the Restraint Officers received orders to begin withdrawing.

Ren Qing wore a thoroughly baffled expression, could it be this mission wasn't meant to suppress Tu Di?

Why did it feel like they had delivered a Supernatural Remnant right to the opponent's mouth?

Something is not right...

The Supernatural Remnant was related to fungus, it probably involved the Summer Grass Formula. Could the Restraint Officers' Hall have left behind some kind of hidden move, and thus aimed to achieve certain goals through this?

Why did it feel like the Restraint Officers' Hall was trying to pull chestnuts from the fire?

Huang Ziwan came over to Ren Qing's side. Seeing the other frowning deeply, he joked and asked, "Disappointed it wasn't a Forbidden Zone?"

"Old Huang, why do I feel..."

"Feeling confused? Since it's Yin Runner realm Restraint Officers taking part, it definitely wasn't for no reason, why bother thinking so much?"

Huang Ziwan yawned and waved his hand, then walked off toward the bustling city district.

The Restraint Officers and reserve officers each dispersed. Some wanted to go up and befriend Ren Qing, but the latter didn't pay them any attention.

Ren Qing deliberately took a few detours. He did not return to the Corpse Burners' Hall, but instead went to the Immortal-Buddha Shrine.

He felt he absolutely had to figure out the cause and effect of the matter, at the very least, to understand what was special about the Summer Grass Formula.

So he could only go find Song Zongwu to draw him out.

Ren Qing waited patiently. Since he had nothing else to do, he simply closed his eyes and visualized his techniques, he couldn't even feel the passage of time.

So they say, in cultivation, there are no years.

In such circumstances, his mind had no distracting thoughts, and the visualization effect of the Blindless Method was naturally more pronounced. At last, he thereby touched upon a bottleneck.

Ren Qing was in no rush to have the one with Heavy Pupils advance to the Ghost Envoy realm, so he exited the visualization method.

After opening his eyes, he saw that outside the Immortal-Buddha Shrine, Song Zongwu was sitting cross-legged. He had likely come in and hadn't wanted to disturb him.

Before Ren Qing could say anything, Song Zongwu opened his mouth first with a solemn expression:

"You're already close to advancing. Don't touch the bottleneck until you're fully prepared."
