Zane's POV~
"Arrrgh! It hurts," I groaned, pressing a trembling hand against my chest.
Am I dead?
Slowly, I forced my eyes open, only to squeeze them shut again as a harsh, blinding light slammed into me like a punch. It burned...too white, too sudden, too sharp.
But even with my eyes closed, the strong sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air, clinging to my nostrils and crawling down my throat. It reminded me of a hospital.
Right. I was shot. I was rushed to the hospital.
But who the fuck shot me?
I blinked rapidly, forcing my eyes to adjust, and this time I sat up suddenly. A jolt of searing pain exploded in my chest. It felt like my heart had been skewered, and the motion only made it worse. But I had to see...had to understand where the hell I was.
This wasn't a hospital.
