"The moon… exploded…"
Across the Shinobi World, everyone stood frozen in shock, their eyes locked onto the sky. The moon had burst apart like a grand display of fireworks, fragments scattering into the void. Mouths hung open, faces full of disbelief.
Worse still, some of the moon's debris had been caught by the planet's gravity, turning into flaming meteors hurtling toward the earth.
At the top of the Federal Tower, Kabuto adjusted his glasses, cold sweat beading on his forehead as he watched the sky.
"A truly terrifying display… Lord Gakuya never fails to astonish."
If there was anyone in the Shinobi World capable of destroying the moon… it could only be Hyuga Gakuya.
"What did you say?" a Federal shinobi beside him asked, confused.
"Nothing. Send word to all provincial governments—prepare defense protocols, evacuate civilians, and ready the chakra cannons. We're going to intercept those meteors."
"Yes, sir!"
A voice suddenly came from behind.
"Kabuto, let me handle it. It'll be a good test for my new power."
Sasuke had appeared silently behind him.
Kabuto thought for a moment, then nodded. "Fine—but keep your identity hidden."
"Understood." Sasuke gave a confident smirk. His new power made him feel like he could shatter every meteor in the sky.
Even so, Kabuto still had the chakra cannons prepared. As the capital of the Shinobi Federation, Otogakure couldn't afford any margin for error.
And there was another reason—Hyuga Gakuya had warned him before. Sasuke's confidence was often misplaced. He still didn't fully grasp the limits of his own strength.
Elsewhere, the other villages had also taken action, urgently mobilizing evacuation efforts.
In Konohagakure, Tsunade acted quickly.
"Get the civilians into the shelters! Have the shinobi ready to intercept the incoming debris!"
She herself stood atop the Hokage Rock, bracing for direct confrontation with the meteors.
In Iwagakure, Onoki flew high into the sky to meet the incoming threat, his jaw hanging slack.
"Could aliens really exist…?"
In Kirigakure, Mei Terumi focused all her attention on the meteor shower, her chakra flaring to full.
In Kumogakure, A stood tall on the fully tailed-beast-transformed Killer Bee as the two prepared to meet the falling destruction together.
In Sunagakure, Gaara summoned countless walls of sand across the village, creating a defensive network against the incoming barrage.
But these efforts could only minimize the damage. In the face of a catastrophe like this, avoiding casualties entirely was impossible.
...
Meanwhile, Black Zetsu stared at the shattered moon in horror, mouth agape.
"Could… could Mother have returned?"
Who else could have possessed the power to destroy the moon?
"Or maybe… her clan?"
A chill ran down his spine. An uneasy premonition crept into his heart.
"Wait… Gakuya was searching for the spatial passage to the moon that Hamura left behind. Could this be his doing?"
Of course, Hyuga Gakuya hadn't bothered to inform Black Zetsu before departing for the moon. And Zetsu couldn't be sure if this destruction was his doing at all.
...
Hyuga Gakuya had no time to dwell on the shattered moon. In an instant, he activated Kamui and appeared right in front of Toneri, gripping him by the throat.
"It's useless," Toneri choked out with his last breath, a twisted smile on his face. "Killing me won't save the Shinobi World."
The moon wasn't essential to the planet. In the ancient era, humanity thrived without it. It was only after the Sage of Six Paths sealed Kaguya Ōtsutsuki with Chibaku Tensei that the moon came into being.
But in his final act, Toneri had pushed a massive wave of moon fragments toward the planet.Even now, they drifted through space, a slow-motion apocalypse. These meteors would devastate the Shinobi World's ecosystem, wiping it clean before nature could rebuild.
Gakuya coldly dug the golden Tenseigan out of Toneri's right eye socket and absorbed it.
"You don't need to worry about that."
As the golden Tenseigan merged with his own, Gakuya's eye power surged, the iris shifting hue to a radiant gold.
Moments later, his body surged with movement. Flesh and chakra swirled violently as Toneri was completely absorbed. Gakuya's chakra evolved, becoming pure Ōtsutsuki chakra.
Then—something unexpected.
A pulse, deep within his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. A tremor from within.
"Of course," Gakuya laughed. "How could I have forgotten? Ōtsutsuki chakra is the source of Yin and Yang. Ashura and Indra's chakras are just fragments of it."
His amusement faded into deep concentration.
He focused, guiding the newly refined Ōtsutsuki chakra into his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, attempting the nearly impossible.
Minutes passed.
Ten long minutes.
He didn't waver for a second. He poured everything into the process, holding his breath until—
It happened.
The scarlet Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan began to shift. The patterns dissolved, giving way to a series of concentric circles—mysterious and divine.
Rinnegan.
In one eye, a golden Tenseigan spun. In the other, a purple Rinnegan. Together, the eyes gleamed like the Yin-Yang tomoe—two halves of godlike vision in perfect balance.
These were not inherited eyes. Gakuya had awakened them through his own power. He now held the Six Paths' might, along with a unique dōjutsu akin to Madara's Limbo.
His Toki no Kage had evolved as well.
Now, not only could he stop time, but he could accelerate, slow, or even reverse it at will.
(The previous scene involving ambushing Obito with the Toki no Kage has been retconned to a true time stop.)
But such overwhelming power came with limits.
Each use gave him only ten minutes of control—and afterward, a long cooldown was required to restore his strength.
When the fusion was complete, Gakuya turned his gaze to the sky and the wreckage drifting in space. Much of the moon remained close by, its fragmented outline still faintly visible.
The Shinobi World couldn't be destroyed. Not yet.
He focused his will and released the Hamura Shrine from his Kamui dimension, placing it at the heart of the moon's broken shell.
As for Kaguya's seal, it was on a Six Paths level. He couldn't be sure he could break it.
Even if he could—releasing her now would do him no good. What he needed was a fully restored, peak-condition Kaguya, not a battered remnant sealed for a thousand years.
That would come later. Everything had to follow the script.
Golden Tenseigan and purple Rinnegan flared in tandem. Gakuya would remake the moon.
With the shrine as its nucleus, the fragments and meteorites surrounding it began to converge, drawn like rivers to the sea.
Even the debris hurtling toward the planet began to shift, intercepted by his power. Only a few outliers continued their descent, too far away to be recalled.
But they no longer posed a global threat.
Under Gakuya's guidance, the fragments began to fuse—slowly forming a new moon.
It was smaller than before, necessarily so. The original moon had been hollow, an artificial construct. This one was solid, and required immense effort. He had even drawn in stray meteorites from the far edges of space to complete it.
The strain on his chakra was enormous. To forge this new moon, Gakuya had nearly exhausted everything he had.
Then a new problem presented itself—how to return to the Shinobi World. The spatial tunnel he'd used before had surely collapsed in the explosion.
In the end, he burned through the last remnants of his chakra, activating Kamui multiple times until he finally returned to Earth.
