On the hospital bed, Sasuke slowly opened his eyes, still dazed. Sitting beside him was Hyuga Gakuya.
"Congratulations," Gakuya said with a smirk. "The surgery was a success. You're officially a girl now."
Sasuke rolled his eyes. He knew it was just Gakuya's twisted sense of humor. Sitting up, he immediately felt that the world around him had changed—natural energy now drifted around him, almost as if it were within his grasp.
Seeing Sasuke so unamused, Gakuya dropped the jokes and got down to business.
"Kabuto will help you adapt to the new organ."
Sasuke, rarely one to show gratitude, actually muttered, "Thanks."
"No need for thanks. You're my partner. The stronger you get, the better."
Gakuya smiled faintly.
"Do your best. This Sage organ is custom-made. It's been infused with the cells of the God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju. Not only will it let you control natural energy, but it'll also boost your vitality and enhance your ocular power."
"Rest up. I've got things to take care of."
He left the hospital room. Outside the door, Kabuto was already waiting.
"Don't let Sasuke go on his revenge quest until I return," Gakuya instructed.
He didn't want to miss the show.
"Understood."
...
Gakuya had White Zetsu lead him to the underground lake that connected to the moon.
Since he hadn't marked the location before, using Kamui for instant teleportation wasn't an option.
Riding on a puppet falcon, it didn't take long for Gakuya to arrive. The cave sat at the border between the Land of Fire and the Federation.
Gazing at the shimmering lake, Gakuya crouched and scooped up some water—yet he felt no moisture at all.
Just like in the original story. No doubt, this was the same lake that led to the moon.
This must be the ancient dimensional gateway left behind by Ōtsutsuki Hamura.
Without hesitation, Gakuya dove in. As he entered the water, bubbles immediately surrounded him. They were illusionary bubbles, the kind that could trap a person in genjutsu with a single touch—spat out by a crab, of all things.
Dodging nimbly, Gakuya avoided the bubbles and swam forward. After a few minutes, all sense of direction vanished. He could no longer tell up from down.
He just kept swimming toward the distant light.
Eventually, he reached the other side, pulling himself ashore.
He was now inside the moon.
Gakuya looked around. He was still inside a cave, but the walls glittered with multicolored crystals.
A massive red crab lay nearby, already aware of Gakuya's presence and watching him warily.
It had been the one generating the illusion bubbles. Gakuya found the creature fascinating—any biologist back in the Federation would've killed to study it.
Forming a spiritual orb in his hand, Gakuya sent it into the crab's brain, easily taking control. He then stored it in his Kamui dimension.
With that done, he made his way out of the cave.
This was Hamura's world—the sanctuary he'd created for his descendants after the Sage of Six Paths used Chibaku Tensei to seal Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path into the moon.
To guard the statue and Kaguya's husk, Hamura had led his clan to the moon, leaving behind only one branch on Earth—the Hyuga clan.
After Hamura's death, his descendants split into two factions over differing interpretations of his teachings.
The branch family believed the world the Sage created had been in endless war for over a thousand years—a failure. It needed to be destroyed.
To that end, they offered up their entire clan's Byakugan and forged a purple Tenseigan, then slaughtered the peaceful main family.
But due to bloodline limitations, the branch family perished as well—leaving behind only a single descendant: Ōtsutsuki Toneri.
Gakuya's goal this time was simple—obtain both of the Tenseigan on the moon.
One was the purple Tenseigan created by the branch family.
The other resided inside the artificial sun that powered the moon's movement—a golden Tenseigan.
As he walked out of the cave, Gakuya reviewed his objectives.
And then—he stopped.
What lay before him was a breathtaking sight.
Tens of thousands of puppets, arranged in perfect formation, stood in silence at the foot of the mountain. They looked like a disciplined army—one assembled specifically to face him.
At the center of the formation, mounted on a high pedestal, sat a giant spherical stone.
Carved into its surface was the emblem of the Ōtsutsuki clan, shining prominently.
No doubt—that was the seal containing the purple Tenseigan.
"Ōtsutsuki Toneri," Gakuya murmured with a smirk, "I didn't expect this kind of welcome. I'm flattered."
There wasn't the slightest ripple in his heart—if anything, he wanted to laugh.
He'd expected this.
In the original story, these moon dwellers regularly observed Earth.
If Toneri had learned about the man who had massacred the Hyuga clan and fused with the Tenseigan, he would naturally anticipate Gakuya's ambition—his hunger for power.
It was only a matter of time before Gakuya came knocking.
Inside Hamura's Temple, Ōtsutsuki Toneri stood before the golden Tenseigan, observing everything through its eye.
He broke into a cold sweat the moment he heard Gakuya say his name.
"How... how does he know who I am?!"
But what he saw next terrified him even more.
Gakuya's gaze pierced the distance—staring directly at him, through the Tenseigan.
...
Gakuya smiled, a grin that seemed to say: Wait there—I'm coming for you.
Turning his attention back to the puppet army below, Gakuya estimated their numbers—around thirty thousand.
Toneri must've hastily constructed them upon suspecting Gakuya's arrival.
After all, space was littered with meteors. Plenty of raw materials to work with.
With that thought, Gakuya didn't hesitate. He activated his Tenseigan Chakra Mode.
A teal aura enveloped him, and his figure turned into a streak of glowing blue light that shot down toward the seal stone.
The puppet army instantly reacted.
In the blink of an eye, countless puppet soldiers mounted puppet falcons and surged toward Gakuya in a wave, trying to block his advance.
On the ground, more puppets raised their arms. Blasts of ocular-powered energy—beams condensed from pure dōjutsu—fired at him like torrential rain.
But none of it slowed him down.
Spinning around him at incredible speed, eight Truth-Seeking Orbs formed a barrier. Any attack—or puppet—that got too close was shredded to dust by their sheer destructive force.
As Gakuya closed the distance—only a few thousand meters from the seal—an unexpected change occurred.
The seal stone, silent until now, suddenly burst into radiant purple light, glowing like a star on the verge of exploding.
And then, just as the energy reached its peak—
A golden beam of light erupted from the Tenseigan, lancing toward Gakuya with blinding speed.
It struck him head-on.
The beam didn't stop. It blasted forward, piercing the moon's crust with unstoppable force.
The entire surface trembled under the impact. Rock and dust flew sky-high, forming a massive crater.
