My eyes found Selene's just as Drey's hand tightened around hers. The sight of their intertwined fingers sent an unwelcome surge of rage through my chest.
"Trust me," I said calmly.
It took everything in me to watch Drey hug her tightly, to see him holding her hand now, and not push him away. Every fiber of my being screamed to intervene, but I forced myself to remain still. She wasn't mine. Yet.
"Thank you, guys," Selene said with a smile, then looked at Drey as he planted a kiss on her forehead. Are they seeing each other already? I found myself questioning internally.
"Let's go to my place," Drey said, his gaze focused entirely on her.
I turned to Maya quickly, giving her a subtle sign to do something, anything, to interrupt this moment. But she only shrugged, clearly not planning to step in. I bit back my frustration.
"Are you okay, Selene?" Maya asked, walking toward her.
