After finishing the rest of my tasks, I leaned back into my chair, stretching slightly. My mind kept floating back to what had just happened earlier. Joonseo ignored me—completely, utterly—as if I were just a stranger passing by. He even called Jieun his girlfriend.
I tried not to cry at work. The last thing I wanted was for Nakyung or anyone to ask me if I was okay. Because I wasn't.
"Minji?" Nakyung's voice brought me back.
"Huh?" I looked up quickly.
She smiled. "You were zoning out again. Wanna grab lunch?"
I nodded, forcing a smile. "Yeah. I could use a break."
We walked to a nearby café, nothing fancy, but warm and cozy. While we waited for our food, she looked at me curiously.
"So… you really worked directly with Mr. Joonseo before?"
I hesitated before replying. "Yeah, I did."
"That's so wild. I've been at this company for a year and never even spoke to him properly." She stirred her coffee. "But you… you were his assistant?"
I nodded. "Yeah, but that's over now."
