Chapter 38 - CHAPTER 38 – YUI AND HARUNA'S FEELINGS

*Note: Well guys, first of all, sorry for not uploading a chapter yesterday, but I got up early and by the evening I was so exhausted that I didn't feel like doing anything, not even reading, so I went straight to bed. However, today I woke up completely rested, so… enjoy the chapter! And don't forget to leave your opinions and suggestions in the comments if you want.

And have a good day :)

...

While Akira, Lala, and Peke were talking to each other about what had happened that night, there were also others who couldn't stop thinking about it: Haruna and Yui. But first, let's focus on Haruna.

After coming home and giving an excuse for why she arrived later than usual, she had dinner and went straight to bed. She wasn't very hungry tonight — not after everything that had happened — but she forced herself to eat so as not to worry her sister.

However, the moment she lay down on her bed, wearing her pretty blue pajamas with flower prints, all the memories of the night resurfaced, and any trace of sleep vanished completely. She felt overwhelmed, unsure of what to think — which was only natural after being kidnapped — but what disturbed her the most was everything Yami had told them afterward.

Apparently, Lala was an alien, not a human, and not just any alien, but the daughter of the King of the Galaxy and the First Princess. That fact alone would have been enough to drive any normal person insane. But there was more. Yami herself was an assassin who had been sent to kill Akira, but thanks to him, she had decided to abandon that life and live peacefully on this planet as a normal girl — that alone was extremely shocking. And yet, it still didn't stop there.

Akira — who up until now seemed like a completely normal boy in every possible way — was actually the heir to the King of the Galaxy, future king, and Lala's fiancé. On top of that, he possessed a mysterious power that allowed him to transform into different monsters, each with their own supernatural abilities. It was simply too much information for her to handle!

Tell me something: how would you react if this happened to you? Would you be confused? Surprised? Happy? Or maybe scared? Nervous? Now imagine feeling all of those emotions at once — and you'll understand exactly how Haruna felt. She was just a normal human girl who, until recently, hadn't even seriously considered the idea that life existed on other planets. And now, all of a sudden, she learned that not only do countless planets exist with advanced civilizations far beyond humanity's capabilities, but that her classmate was a princess, her friend was the future king, and the new transfer student was a former assassin… It was simply impossible for her to digest everything at once.

"Whatever it is, I'm glad Akira-kun saved me..." – Haruna said.

She didn't know why, but the figure of Akira when she came to save them both, moved her deeply and although at that moment she was scared, nervous and confused, now, much calmer, she felt her heart beating wildly.

"He looked so handsome..." – Haruna said.

Leaving aside all the overwhelming information, the fact that Akira had come to save her felt like something straight out of one of those stories she used to read as a child.

In those tales, the princess is kidnapped by a devil, and a brave hero, riding a white horse, faces the devil in a fierce battle, defeats him, rescues the princess, and the two fall in love and live happily ever after. Stories meant for children — the kind of situation every girl dreams of at least once, only to later abandon those fantasies as they grow up and realize that real life isn't a fairy tale. That there are no brave heroes on white horses, and that such stories are nothing more than fantasies written to entertain.

However, tonight… she had lived something remarkably similar.

At the time, she had been overwhelmed with fear — terrified for her life. But now, lying calmly in her room, she couldn't help but realize that what happened was very much like one of those stories she used to love so much when she was a child. Akira had risked his life to save her, and not just her, but Yui as well. He had fought against a monster, defeated him, and saved them both.

Her heart began to race slightly as these thoughts filled her mind. Was it really possible that someone like Akira existed? A real hero? And more importantly… what did she feel for him now?

"If only Yuuki-kun could be as brave as Akira-kun..." – Haruna murmured.

While Rito had many virtues (at least in Haruna's eyes), he lacked something that, until today, she never thought much about: manliness, daring, and bravery. She had always believed that those weren't really essential qualities in a man. But today, when Akira had appeared to save her and faced that terrifying assassin without hesitation, she realized that those virtues made a man incredibly attractive.

When Haruna thought about Rito, her heart would always beat faster — and she had believed for a long time that this was love, that she had fallen in love with Rito. But now, after spending these days around Akira, and especially after being rescued by him, her heart also pounded when she thought of Akira — perhaps even stronger than when she thought of Rito.

"Have I fallen in love with him?" - Haruna wondered.

She was confused. She couldn't tell whether these feelings were genuine, or simply the emotional aftermath of being saved so dramatically. Maybe tomorrow, when she saw Akira again, those feelings would fade. Or perhaps they wouldn't — and she truly had fallen for him. But then, what would she do? On one hand, she still had feelings for Rito, but if her heart belonged to Akira… how was she supposed to handle that? Akira and Lala were already engaged; their marriage had been arranged. And she — just an ordinary human — how could she even think of falling for someone destined to be a king?

A harem… - Haruna whispered to herself.

Suddenly, it all made sense. Now she understood why Lala wasn't jealous, why she seemed completely fine with the idea of Akira being close to other girls. If Akira would one day become king, having multiple wives might not be unusual at all. In fact, many kings in ancient times had done so, in order to secure heirs and continue their bloodline. It was likely the same for the king of the galaxy.

But… was she truly prepared to be part of a harem? To share the man she loved with other women? She didn't know. She wasn't even sure why she was thinking about all of this now — after all, she didn't even know whether Akira liked her. And would Akira, a future galactic king, even be interested in someone as ordinary as her?

Her feelings were an absolute mess right now. But, unknowingly, thanks to her growing feelings for Akira, everything Yami had told her earlier had already been accepted deep inside her heart — even if she wasn't fully aware of it.

"Anyway now I can't do anything, I'll have to wait for tomorrow" – said Haruna.

Then, as she continued to think about everything that had happened today, she closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep.

At the same time with Yui.

Yui was lying on her bed, dressed in her usual plain yellow pajamas, without any decorations or embellishments, while her mind was consumed by everything that had happened.

Her thoughts weren't much different from Haruna's, though with one major exception: Yui had never felt anything for Rito. She had nothing to compare these feelings to. But love — real love — wasn't something she was experienced with. At school, Yui was the one responsible for upholding the rules, for disciplining both students and even teachers who dared to break them. One of those strict rules was the prohibition of romantic relationships between students. That made her sense of duty constantly clash with the emotions now rising within her — emotions she could no longer deny.

Unlike Haruna, when Akira had appeared to save them, risking his life to protect her and Haruna from that dangerous criminal, Yui's heart had been deeply moved. The feelings that had once been nothing more than a tiny, buried seed had suddenly started to blossom, blooming like the most vibrant and beautiful of roses.

Akira had become her prince charming.

Because beneath her stern, rule-enforcing exterior, Yui was still a girl — a maiden who secretly harbored a sweet, tender side she rarely allowed anyone to see. And now that side of her was starting to awaken.

"It can't be... I actually fell in love with him" - Yui whispered to herself.

She couldn't believe it. Just two weeks ago, she had practically despised Akira, convinced that he was nothing but another shameless, rule-breaking pervert. And now, not even a month later, she found herself in love with him? Was that even possible?

Sometimes, the improbable wasn't the same as impossible — and Yui was now the perfect example of that.

"Aliens, kings, princes, assassins... it's all too much to take in" - Yui said softly.

Despite her growing feelings for Akira, Yui couldn't forget everything Yami had told her and Haruna — things normal humans were never meant to know. Life existed on other planets, many of them far more technologically advanced than Earth. And if that wasn't enough, Lala was a princess, Akira was her fiancé and the future king of the galaxy, and Yami was a former assassin. Could anything be more shocking? Well, yes — because now, on top of it all, Yui realized she had fallen in love with Akira.

"Everything is difficult to accept, but it's the truth… so I better accept it sooner rather than later" - Yui sighed.

Maybe it was overwhelming for someone like Haruna, but for Yui — who had always been fascinated by space and everything related to it — this revelation was almost like a secret wish coming true. What she struggled to accept weren't the facts, but rather her own feelings.

"How can I like someone like him? And yet... when he appeared to save us, my heart nearly stopped" - Yui admitted to herself.

She wasn't stupid — there was no point in denying what was now obvious.

"But even though I've fallen for him, the school rules forbid romantic relationships between students. That means I can't do anything about it... And besides, now that I know Akira's true identity — will someone like him even notice me? I'm just an ordinary human, from an underdeveloped planet" - Yui whispered.

After all, Akira would soon become king of the entire galaxy. How could someone like her even hope to catch his attention?

"No!" - Yui suddenly shook her head, as if trying to cast away her doubts. "The school may not allow relationships… but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up!"

Her voice, though quiet, was firm. The maiden's determination was born.

Yui was an extremely stubborn girl and when she wanted something, she got it no matter what, everyone in her family was aware of it.

"She may be a mere human incomparable to the millions of beauties that exist in the galaxy, but that doesn't mean I lack attractiveness! I refuse to believe that I can't make Akira fall in love with me!" – Yui said.

Then, she got out of bed, turned on the light, and looked at herself in a small mirror she had in her room.

"I'm attractive, so I doubt I won't be able to make him fall in love with me!" – Yui said with determination.

However, she had momentarily forgotten one small detail: Akira was destined to have a harem. As a future king, it was his duty to preserve his bloodline, which meant having many wives and children. Was she truly ready to be part of a harem?

"I still have until graduation to think about it!" – Yui reassured herself.

She didn't know exactly when Akira would officially become king, but something told her it might happen around the time he graduated. That meant she had almost two full school years to decide about her future with Akira — and, more importantly, to make him fall for her. But there was one small problem: she had no idea how to flirt.

Until now, Yui had never fallen in love before, nor had she ever seriously thought about dating anyone. How was she supposed to win a man's heart? She was a complete rookie — and that put her at a huge disadvantage.

"I don't have time to lose. I'll search the internet! Akira may be the future king, but he's still human. I'm sure I can make him fall in love with me!" – Yui said, her eyes shining with determination.

Unlike the Yui from the original manga, who had an almost irrational aversion to romantic relationships, this Yui was not someone who hated romance. She simply hadn't met anyone who stirred her heart — until now. But now that she had, she wouldn't stop until she conquered Akira's heart. As for the harem issue — well, there was still plenty of time to figure that out. For now, her focus was clear: make him fall for her.

Note: As you can see, this version of Yui is very different from her manga counterpart but still stays true to her personality. The reason I changed this aspect is because her attitude towards relationships in the manga seemed irrational to me. However, this Yui doesn't reject romance itself; she simply enforces school rules, which makes far more sense than how she behaved in the manga. Don't you think? I believe I've preserved Yui's personality while making her behavior more coherent and grounded. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments.
