Chapter 69 - Chapter 69

Kael's vision shifted, and he was back in his room in Mondstadt.

After a week away, returning to his room felt disorienting.

What happened in the Life Simulation felt like an incredibly vivid dream.

Although the events in the Life Simulation didn't exist in reality, the emotions he experienced there had left a real mark on his heart.

Suddenly, he really wanted to see Amber.

He began to understand Amber's inexplicable affection.

Amber must have suffered even more than he did.

After all, Amber's feelings from the Life Simulation were fully projected into reality.

[The morticians around your coffin scattered, and the guests panicked upon hearing the scream. Chef Mao, Xiangling, and Keqing rushed forward as quickly as they could.]

[Seeing you open your eyes, Keqing, overcome with emotion, lunged forward, reaching out to embrace you.]

["Be careful!" Hu Tao shouted from a distance.]

[You grabbed Keqing's hand and threw her aside with great force.]

[Keqing crashed into the wall, and the offerings on the wall fell to the ground.]

["Kael! What's wrong with you?!" Chef Mao took a few steps forward, wanting to touch you, but Hu Tao blocked him.]

["He's not Kael anymore! He's a monster controlled by Karma! Everyone, leave this place immediately!!!"]

[Xiangling cried out, "Hu Tao, what are you talking about?! This is my brother! He's not a monster! He..."]

[Xiangling was stunned into silence by your emotionless gaze.]

[The crowd in Wanmin was evacuated by the morticians.]

"What the hell, system! You said my body would function normally! Is this normal?!"

[The host's body is indeed capable of normal activity.]

"This isn't activity! This is indiscriminate violence!!!"

Kael was furious.

He had hoped that after being resurrected, he could comfort Chef Mao and the others.

But with this body, how could he comfort anyone?

He might just end up killing everyone around him!

[In this Life Simulation, the host's resurrection must align with the story's development. In the simulation, the host's energy dissipated upon death, meaning the soul was lost. The body only came back to life due to modifications. This is the most fitting resurrection method for this Life Simulation.]

"Without a soul and controlled by Karma, that's just a monster, right? Is this talent a defective product? If I die in reality and resurrect, will I also lose my soul and become a mindless husk?"

[Don't worry, host. After acquiring this talent, you will resurrect in peak condition after death. You will not lose your soul. However, the story in the Life Simulation must develop logically. This is the most reasonable resurrection method, as calculated by the system.]

"...If I activate Sensory Mode, can I control this body?"

[Yes. After activating Sensory Mode, the host's consciousness will be projected onto this body.]

Damn it, he'd have to take matters into his own hands.

However, he only had 110 Attribute Points left. At 5 points per hour, he could only use Sensory Mode for 22 hours.

22 hours wasn't much. He'd have to figure out how to use this time wisely.

[Hu Tao took out her weapon, the Staff of Homa, and aimed it at you.]

[Sensing the killing intent, you let out a beastly roar.]

[Hu Tao, seeing your inhuman state, showed a hint of pity. "How pitiful. You're already dead but trapped in this world, unable to move on. Let me free you!"]

[Her weapon ignited with Pyro energy as she charged at you.]

[A flash of purple light appeared as Keqing, having climbed to her feet, rushed to your side and blocked Hu Tao's attack.]

[Sparks flew as the sword and staff collided. Keqing's counterattack was strong, forcing Hu Tao back a few steps.]

[But Keqing, already injured from your earlier attack, suffered internal injuries and spat out blood.]

[She panted heavily, glaring at Hu Tao with hatred. "I won't allow anyone to harm him anymore!"]

[Xiangling, watching the tense confrontation, cried out to you desperately, "Brother! Wake up! Please, wake up!"]

[Hu Tao frowned at Keqing. "Stubborn fool!"]

[She raised her Staff of Homa and attacked again.]

[Keqing wasn't weak, but her recent emotional turmoil had left her physically frail. Without warning, she had already been attacked by you.]

[Now, she was at her limit.]

[Keqing barely managed to block a few of Hu Tao's strikes before being knocked to the ground.]

[Keqing struggled to get up, but she had no strength left. Blood continued to pour from her mouth.]

[With Keqing out of the way, Hu Tao approached you once more.]

[Keqing's eyes widened in horror as she screamed from the ground, "No... NO!!!"]

[Suddenly, a spear blocked the path.]

[Xiangling, tears streaming down her face, said to Hu Tao, "My brother just hasn't woken up yet! Hu Tao, give him some time. He'll wake up!"]

[Hu Tao looked at Xiangling sternly. "Xiangling, are you going to stop me too?"]

["Enough!!!" Chef Mao roared from the side. "Get out of here! My son isn't a monster!"]

[Chef Mao stood beside Xiangling, glaring at Hu Tao. "If you want to hurt him, you'll have to kill me first! Step over my corpse!!!"]

[Hu Tao, seeing Chef Mao's desperate plea, knew the ceremony couldn't continue today.]

[She looked at the group with disappointment. "Kael would never want to exist in this form. You're going against the deceased's wishes."]

["As the 77th Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, I cannot allow you to disrupt the order of life and death."]

["I'll be back."]

[With that, Hu Tao turned and left Wanmin.]
