"What in the hell is wrong with you? What is your problem?" I snapped, turning on him with all the anger I'd kept bottled up since dinner.
"Okay," he said calmly, unfazed. "I thought after dinner… I saw you two laughing, air-kissing and all that—I figured things were good now. Why are you still angry?"
I took a sharp breath, trying to calm myself. Maybe I was overreacting. But no, I wasn't.
"I told you not to be here."
"I thought the issue was Leana seeing me. She didn't see me. She didn't even know I was there. So why are you still mad?"
"I'm mad because you don't listen," I shot back. "Because you never listen to me."
"No," he said coolly. "You're mad because I keep my word."
He reached out to touch my cheek. I flinched away, swatting his hand before it could land.
"Don't."
"Come on, don't be mad," he said softly. "I told you... we're talking about this. Today. However long it takes. Whatever I have to do. We are having that talk."
He exhaled, his voice gentling.
