As Zeran held her upright to keep her from falling, Lethia hadn't even realised her tears had slipped until she quickly wiped them away with the back of her hand.
Maybe she'd been holding them back ever since slapping Renar. She still couldn't believe he could say something so cold, especially when he was the one who'd offered to kiss her in the first place.
"Don't… don't ask me anything. Nothing happened, so you don't have to worry," Lethia said defensively, making it clear she didn't have the energy to explain the absurd mess she'd just walked through.
"I'm not saying anything," Zeran replied simply.
Her fingers tightened around his arm. "Can we just go home right now? I don't feel like I'll enjoy this party."
Zeran straightened her up. "Can you walk?"
She gave a small nod.
Zeran's large, warm hand gripped hers firmly as they walked down the corridor.
