Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Sensation of Flying Is Absolutely Amazing (1)

After returning to Soto City, the trio first visited the blacksmith's shop to collect the customized weighted wrist and ankle bands. Without hesitation, Su Xiaoqi strapped them onto his body.

Watching him sluggishly walking over with the weights on, Ning Rongrong couldn't help but ask, "Zhuqing, are you sure this is okay? That's a total of forty kilograms!"

Her curiosity had gotten the better of her earlier, and she'd tried them on herself. Just strapping the ankle weights to her legs had made it impossible to take even a single step.

Now, Ning Rongrong finally understood how Su Xiaoqi could still be so formidable without any soul power.

Zhu Zhuqing replied nonchalantly, "He'll get used to the weight quickly."

To someone like Su Xiaoqi—a Saiyan—this level of weight was nothing. After all, that Saiyan named Son Goku trained under one hundred times gravity.

Ning Rongrong glanced back and forth between Su Xiaoqi and Zhu Zhuqing before finally making a firm decision. "Zhuqing, when you eventually retire your current set of weights, can I have them?"

"Flender may have said some harsh things before, but he wasn't wrong—without someone to protect me, I'm useless as an auxiliary-type soul master."

"You two are my most important friends now, and I don't want to drag you down. I want to get stronger, too."

Su Xiaoqi's weighted set was far too much for her, but Zhu Zhuqing's current set of 12 kilograms was something she could just manage to handle.

Zhu Zhuqing looked at Ning Rongrong deeply, then nodded. "Alright."

"Heehee~" Ning Rongrong beamed at her sweetly. "From now on, just call me Rongrong. Once I'm back at the hotel, I'll write a letter home like Su Xiaoqi suggested, telling my father the real situation at Shrek Academy."

"I know the two of you will leave Shrek Academy eventually. When that time comes, I'll go with you. I don't want to stay in this dump another second."

Ning Rongrong wasn't stupid—she could see that Su Xiaoqi and Zhu Zhuqing held no real attachment to the academy. They were only staying for the satisfaction of putting Dai Mubai in his place. Once they'd had their fun, they'd be gone.

Zhu Zhuqing responded calmly, "I go where he goes."

"You two have such a great relationship," Ning Rongrong sighed, then hooked arms with her and smiled mischievously. "Since we're waiting for him anyway, can you tell me how he saved you? And who liked who first?"

That question really stumped Zhu Zhuqing. She couldn't tell Ning Rongrong about the chat group, but she also wasn't as good at making things up as Su Xiaoqi. In the end, she could only brush it off by saying it was private between the two of them and not something she could share.

Seeing this, Ning Rongrong didn't press further. In the past couple of days, she'd noticed that Zhu Zhuqing was naturally quiet and reserved—only when she was with Su Xiaoqi did she become more talkative.

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

Su Xiaoqi finally caught up with the two of them, apologizing as he did. He'd spent that time adjusting to the extra forty kilograms of weight on his body.

Zhu Zhuqing smiled. "No problem. Should we head back to the hotel or eat first?"

Su Xiaoqi thought for a moment. "Let's eat first. Then I want to train for a bit before going back to the hotel. Watching your fight earlier really made me itch to move."

"Alright."

Zhu Zhuqing smiled knowingly. She knew that as a Saiyan, Su Xiaoqi would get restless without regular training. Ning Rongrong had no objections either—she was eager to train too, especially if it meant slapping Flender in the face later.

So the three of them made their way to the same restaurant they'd visited the day before.

As soon as the waiter saw Su Xiaoqi—the bottomless pit himself—approaching again, he came over beaming. This customer deserved the utmost care; just one of his meals was worth an entire day's revenue for the place.

After a hearty feast, Su Xiaoqi patted his stomach in satisfaction. Ning Rongrong paid the bill, insisting that friends shouldn't be so formal—especially since Su Xiaoqi had helped her out so much today.

After a short break, the trio returned to their usual training spot.

Su Xiaoqi had Zhu Zhuqing begin by getting used to the weighted gear just like he had. Only once her body was fully accustomed would she move on to combat training. As for Ning Rongrong, Su Xiaoqi told her to stick with her usual cultivation method for now.

He firmly believed that the priority for an auxiliary-type soul master was to increase soul power. If she wanted to boost her personal combat capabilities, she could absorb soul bones with battle-oriented traits later on. Physical training was a secondary concern.

That said, if Ning Rongrong did want to build physical stamina, Su Xiaoqi told her to join him for morning runs starting tomorrow.

Ning Rongrong, naturally, obeyed everything Su Xiaoqi said. After agreeing to run with him in the morning, she sat down cross-legged and began meditating.

Meanwhile, Su Xiaoqi and Zhu Zhuqing started a slow jog. At first, everything was normal—but gradually, Su Xiaoqi became distracted, his eyes constantly drifting toward Zhu Zhuqing.

Zhu Zhuqing had already sensed his gaze. At first, it made her secretly pleased—but as it grew more blatant, she couldn't take it anymore. Flushing, she muttered under her breath, "What are you staring at, you pervert?"

"Uh… I think I'll speed up now. You go ahead and keep jogging at your pace."

Without waiting for a reply, Su Xiaoqi accelerated. Zhu Zhuqing's subtle body movements while running had become too much for him to handle.

"He already adapted to the weights that fast?"

Watching Su Xiaoqi pull away from her, Zhu Zhuqing was deeply shocked. It had barely been two or three hours since he'd strapped on the gear.

But Su Xiaoqi wasn't aware of her thoughts. Gritting his teeth, he pressed on. Now free of distractions, he threw himself wholeheartedly into training.

From jogging, he moved on to push-ups and punching drills. He executed each exercise with full focus. Having barely begun to manipulate his "ki" earlier that morning, he now felt increasingly in tune with its flow.

"Weird… why can't I fly yet?"

After several failed attempts at flight, Su Xiaoqi fell into contemplation.

He remembered in Dragon Ball Z how Son Gohan taught Videl to control ki—she had started floating within just a few hours. As a Saiyan, surely he shouldn't lose out to an ordinary Earthling!

Refusing to give up, Su Xiaoqi used 498 points to buy a monthly subscription and immediately pulled up the episode in Dragon Ball Z where Son Gohan taught Videl to control ki.

"Ah, so that's how it works. I get it now."

He took off the weights and, following Gohan's instructions, calmed his mind and began guiding the energy within his body.

Moments later, under Zhu Zhuqing's stunned gaze, Su Xiaoqi slowly lifted off the ground—rising higher and higher.

"Zhuqing! Look! Look! I can fly! Hahahaha!"

Su Xiaoqi whooped with joy as he spun around in the air. His loud shouting startled Ning Rongrong out of her meditation.

When Ning Rongrong opened her eyes and followed Zhu Zhuqing's gaze upward, she saw Su Xiaoqi floating in the sky. Her eyes widened, and after rubbing them to make sure she wasn't hallucinating, she exclaimed in shock:

"Su Xiaoqi, how are you flying?!"
