Elara checked the vanity mirror one last time, wiping a small smudge of lipstick before grabbing her handbag and hurrying toward the exit. Nessca—named after Ashley's daughter, Vanessa—was launching today, and as the manager, she was expected to be there early to make sure everything was perfect before the event kicked off at 2 p.m. Ashley had entrusted it all to her due to an emergency.
Molita and Rebekah were already on site helping out. The only reason Elara was still home at 9 a.m. was because she'd been waiting for her father to leave for his trip. He still insisted she stop working for Ashley, and she'd been pretending to be the obedient daughter just to get him to lower his guard.
She had even agreed to a dinner date later today with that annoying tick, Wesley, just to appease her father. Which was ridiculous, since she'd still be deep in the restaurant chaos by then.
